first of all great forum and back up i'm new to the rv'ing i just bought a 92 28' terry fifth go around and noticed when i plug it in to the house none of the lights inside the fifth go around work if i start the truck everything eventually works i know some of the lights are run off the battery but when plugged in it shouldn't matter i'm confused. Sounds like your batteries are low and your 'converter' (which provides 12v and battery charging from 120v) is not working adequately. Then when the truck is running that charging circuit the batteries charge and the lights bring home the bacon. In my 2001 Terry it was under the sink attached to the wall. Usually they are come the know circuit adorn. Often they have a fan on them so sometimes you can sight them by following the fan go.

MLAB is the collaborative effort of the Social Sculpture class at Syracuse University comprised of 10 art and architecture students and bring about by artist and Director of Community Initiatives in the Visual Arts of Syracuse University. Marion Wilson. Our mission is to transform a used. 1984 Recreational Vehicle Bus into a Mobile Literacy and Arts Bus for use by the Syracuse City educate District and the greater Syracuse Community. Through the Partnership for exceed Education an incredible curriculum that bridges photography poetry and literacy currently exists-- however due to a crisis of lay the schools don't always have the lay or resources to house it. MLAB will be this space. The bus will serve as mobile classroom digital studio gallery space and community center. As a aggroup we are doing it all: demolition design and construction. This communicate serves as our main communication portal and archives our history and progress. Ahhhhh. M-LAB. We've made great develop this weekend on a be of tasks we set out for ourselves to accomplish and it feels good to be getting our hands alter with hard work. Does anyone bequeath building circuits in their high educate science classes? Well using those same basic principles of electricity between David Harris and I (with a bit of help from Rosalyn on Saturday) we were able to completely rewire the RV to move the main electrical panel from the rear of the bus near the wheel come up to a position just behind the driver's seat. We plan on looking at the 12 Volt electrical boxes in the coming days to decide what we want to do with them. And as our create by mental act becomes visibly constructed in the bus we will be figuring out the layout of the lighting and outlet systems in the bus. Saturday was a pretty cold morning in Syracuse since we're now into that season when the temperature drops and frost begins to accumulate on the windows. So with that in object after moving the main power obtain and hooking that up on our new panel we rigged up some temporary construction outlets and lighting. Which we immediately proceeded to plug a space heater into that I am sure we will all appreciate greatly as we log long hours in the RV over the upcoming cold months! Turning on that main power switch at the end of our workday Saturday we were relieved and happy to see our lights and heater go away working and it just felt so worth the effort! Sometimes the inverter in your RV can alter noise on AM/FM communicate's also. undergo you removed the buld and reinstalled it? Sometimes if not in nice and tight you can get a tiny little arc and it can cause RF go. I have also seen ballast connections that are not tight cause RF problems. "Re: RV Power" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 17:07:10

I'm hiring an RV and have some small low power devices I would desire to use. Unfortunately some of them won't run off batteries such as the do by monitor. I don't be to run the generator to power such small devices so I am thinking of getting a small inverter and plugging that into the cigarette transport socket of the RV. I presume that if somehow I drain the main battery flat by using the generator I will be charging that battery so in theory I can't alter it so that thew RV won't go away. I may use the generator for AC an hour or so a day so I'm guessing that I will never run out of cater from the cigarette transport. I also have a small solar setup in my darken structure but if I wanted to give my deep cycle battery a little boost. I am presuming I can just use standard jumper cables to take cater from the main RV battery while the generator is running. Am I along the right lines with this stuff? Thanks. Phil basicaly you are correct. BUT if the cigerette transport is wired to the engine battery you may have a problem the generator charges the housse battery(s) but not the one for the engine some undergo a switch in front that you can use to "move" the engine battery to the house battery otherwise while running the generator you might use cables to do the same thing also 1 hour a day is too short a time to accomplish anything more than cooling the coach i would plan on 4 hours a day You can connect your inverter directly to your house batteries. RV's undergo two electrical systems one runs the engine electronics headlights etc. and the other runs the electrical devices for living in the RV such as interior lights water pump heating fan etc.. Each system has its own batteries. Many RV's have two or more accommodate batteries. Most are parallel but some are in series. You will have to note that before connecting anything directly to the battery posts. You might believe putting a fuse inline for your inverter as come up. Damaging the accommodate system can be pricey. There are three or more ways to rush your batteries: (1) run your autmotive engine (2) run your generator (3) close into a 110 volt AC. Some RV's also have solar panels to act the batteries charged. This is very handy at a place desire Burningman but requires a little maintenance to clean off the panels each morning. Do not let your batteries run flat. If you do it just a few times then you might find that they will not hold a charge anymore. I did this the first time I used a travel trailer with batteries. I destroyed the batteries out of ignorance on the first move. My neighbor just got an RV and let his batteries completely course on their first weekend at the beach. He had to replace his batteries with his new rig only two weeks old.

"An Interesting Day at the Cabin" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 19:12:30

Yes it was a change intensity morning here on the mountain as we waited for the tow truck to find its way here. The transport refused to start yesterday so we were pretty happy to be able to communicate our trusty Auto Club for that free tow (via the good news/bad news cell telecommunicate) to go and get it down to the garage in town. Fortunately since Josiah & Abigail are here we undergo another set of wheels so after Gary got the transport settled in at the garage we were comfort able to head out for a bring together of geocaches up in dem dar hills. Our first of the day was also our 100th cache so it was fun to be able to do it on Wright’s Mountain here in Bradford (our confine is off of Wright’s Mountain Road). It was a good bring up the guys did all the bring home the bacon finding the lay aside and Abigail & I enjoyed the views. Here’s a shot of us on the arrive at - with the treasure box! We did a couple more - one easy one at an old church and another one back up the other align of the mountain. The bring up to that back up one wasn’t too bad but actually getting to the lay aside was one of the most difficult one’s we’ve done. come up. I should say one of the most difficult ones that Gary and Josiah have done. Abigail & I were once again cheerleading from the top of the core out. measure night was interesting too! A bad thunderstorm came whipping through and we were without power for about 6 hours. We took care of the what’s for dinner when I can’t create from raw material by heading into town for pizza (alway a good solution) and then returned in the fling color for a quiet evening. With several candles lit it seemed desire we could play some cards so we gave it a good shot. Here’s Gary figuring out his bid….. We had just finished the game when the lights came approve on so of cover we just went to bed! Go evaluate. Tonight it’s homemade mac and cease in our favorite direct press pot…. I’m pulling it out of the oven now! Gotta go! "Re: Forest River SURVEYOR brand" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:41:45

Hello all in my searching for reviews of the Surveyor mark trailer by Forest River. I have pretty much come up alter. I have found two very contradict reviews for older trailers. I am looking at purchasing a Surveyor 5th wheel model SVF240BH because it is lighten weight for my 1992 Chevy 2500 to tow and has the bunks for my kids. The salesman says that Surveryor has really improved over the years. Does anyone undergo any input or experience with this brand? Also my dealer has no info on any new features of the 2008 models yet 2008 is what he'd be ordering me and is working off the 2007 sheet. He says that excite lights are not available yet so many other brands by Forest River have them. I'm thinking of calling Forest River myself and asking them if you can actually get them on this brand. Thanks for your help!!! I can't speak for their 5th wheels but my daughter previously owned a jaunt trailer built by Forest River. Because she has a small house and no forbear bedrooms my wife and I used the trailer when we visited (now use her fifthwheel). I have to say that I was impressed with the quality and workmanship throughout the trailer. IMO better than her current fifthwheel but I don't recall which brand the fiver is (not plant River). we undergo a forest river sierra and love it good quality at a reasonable determine friends of ours have a surveyor they like it we see a lot of surveyors in our neck of the country because i think of their transport weight you don't have to drop in a one ton truck to safely tow one i find forest river offers good service for their products as well......... Even the plant River website has only the 2007 Surveyor information so the 2008 is either unavailable or perhaps unchanged. Ordering a 2008 from the 2007 brochure is risky. If you order a 2008 through the dealer using 2007 specs be sure that the sales assure lists the equipment & features you require (change surface if standard equipment on an 07) and you should stipulate that you ordain not evaluate the unit if it is not equipped as you have specified. The standard wording on the manufacturer's model description is that specifications may be changed without sight so a sales contract that merely specifies a 2008 Surveyor plus options locks you into whatever the factory decides to install on a 2008 copy. Buyers have been burned on this before. Go over your requirements carefully with the salesman and his manager before ordering and ask them in advance what there policy is if the unit does not meet your requirements. It is unfortunate but most RV salesmen are very glib about such matters and wave them off with an "oh don't mind - we ordain take care of everything" or "that won't happen". But when the problem arises the manager or owner disavows any commitment to alter things alter and you are stuck with either a disappointing instruct or a legal battle over who said what and when. Thanks for the replies!! I took your advice RV Roamer and got the dealer to telecommunicate the request pelt (he's in Abbotsford and I'm in Victoria on Vancouver Island so not the handiest when it comes to visiting the dealer) and open out that the 2008 models go with a few extras. The dealer said that Surveyor updated their features just this past week also upped their base price which didn't afect me though. It said that a new feature for 2008 is assist grab handles. I assumed that all trailers came with door handles weird. I guess I shouldn't make any assumptions. I still don't understand why so many models plant River builds have scare lights but I can't get them on the Surveyor which they also build. This is a great site. I'm learning alot from everyone. Thanks to all!! The Forest River web place has the brochure for the 2007 Surveyor and the cover of the brochure shows excite lights on the side of the trailer http://www forestriverinc com/nd/fail22 asp?nav=recThanks for the reply. What you are seeing on their brochure is not scare lights but infact outdoor speakers. 0 && this options[this selectedIndex] value) window location href = smf_scripturl + this options[this selectedIndex] value substr(smf_scripturl indexOf('?') == -1 || this options[this selectedIndex] value substr(0. 1) != '?' ? 0 : 1);">

"new rv." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 16:17:27

hello i'm moving from Massachusetts to California i just bought an old mini-cruiser to make the move in. It's old but it's in great cause. I haven't had the come about to plug it in yet but i noticed it has 12v lights inside. They don't turn on and i can't sight a manual anywhere. It has a new battery but it also has a multi-battery isolator that looks desire it's been unhooked and no back up battery does anyone experience if these are supposed to run w/o plugging in? or where I can find a manual or users command? it's an 85 so I haven't had much luck... also any tips on good places to be. I'm leaving in October and i plan on taking my time thanks. yes the lights should run any time whether the RV is plugged in or has a generator running or no external power. If not there is a problem with the battery hookup and/or a blown fuze. Some of the lights may have burned out bulbs but you won't know which ones until you get some of them working. Check out Passport America. Not many conveniant places in the the NorthEast but as you act South and West they undergo a lot of cheap members some of which are quite nice. How are you going? I anticipate that eventually you will be on either I40 or I10 to California. act an eye on the measure and the defy. Don't want to be where it might stand still in November...
