This is a convenient campground to Mackinac Island and Northern MI. It is a great place to use as "base camp" to see the local sites. It is clean fairly wooded and well maintained. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. It is not a large campground and does not offer a ton of things to do - which is okay - because we did not camp there for those reasons. This is our second time camping at this campground and we would not hesitate to camp there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Busy crowded and minimal maintained cg with few recent updates. Pads are mostly sand and dirt with some gravel. MH's are advised to unhook prior to going to the site. Limited numbers of full hook-up sites with 50 amp. Cramped tight spacing leaves little privacy and can create difficulty when pulling out or as in our case backing out of our pull thru due to neighbors vehicles and a tree blocking our turning radius. Your picnic table will sit nearly on top of your neighbors sewer opening making a non-sewer site actually more desirable. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Sites were small and conjested to attempt to get our smaller motor home into. Had to do a lot of stretching of the power cords to plug in with the location of the power pole. As travel with dogs prefer a larger site to give them some room to stretch their legs some without taking constantly having to take them walking. Picnic tables for one site are right next to table for the next site over. Did discover some larger campsites in the back section to the north of the bathhouse which might have been better however we were not offered these sites upon registration. The pool area was so crowded upon checking it out thought different about going for a swim. Black flies were bad but this is the case in the UP in early summer. There is a nice indian trading post next door which makes for some interesting shopping. This was our first experience with a KOA Campground. The staff was not helpful and the camp store was void of most necessities including a cold pop as the pop cooler was empty. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a warning about Machinaw City KOA's cancellation policy. We had reserved the campground several months prior to our arrival. A week ahead of our arrival we were camped about an hour away and decided to visit this campground in our towed car. Upon viistation we found the campground not suitable for a big rig. The sites were not level the roads muddy and there were low branches everywhere. Upon returning to our rig I called and cancelled our reservation. My phone call was 12 hours less than one week before our arrival. Apparently hidden in the "fine print" on page 3 of the on line document there was a clause that if you cancelled after a full week before arrival you did not get your deposit of one full day refunded. This is a warning to all campers to read the fine print carefully. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Price reflects KOA member discount. We had a pull-thru site but it was too short to allow our toad to remain hitched although there was room to park it across the back of the rig. The site was slightly off level requiring boards to be placed under the one front wheel to allow the wheel to remain on the ground once the levelers were lowered. Site was loose gravel and sand. Picnic table and fire ring were provided. Some low trees & shrubs between the sites allowed minimal privacy. Many tall trees providing plenty of shade so satellite reception might be a problem. Services were located conveniently. No problem with overhead branches. Wi-Fi was very slow. No cable but antenna reception was great on three channels. Very convenient to Mackinaw City and the Mackinac Island ferry companies would send a shuttle to pick you up at no charge. No view of the bridge. Very small playground and pool. Limited supplies in the store. Helpful staff. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good location in relation to town. They have a well maintained path from the campground to another path that goes all the way downtown (about 2 miles) good for walking or jogging but not bikes. The campground is dusty and the sites are close together. All the sites are in the woods but a few you may be able to get satellite check the site before setting up some are better then others. A friendly staff and very few items in the store. We would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a lovely campground in October. The autumn foliage was stunning. Sites are spacious; the management is very helpful with directions and visitor information. They arranged a free shuttle to Mackinac Island ferry that accommodated our bikes. There is a pretty nature walk right from the campground as well as a beautiful beach at the end of the road. We will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The sites are close but there is so much to do that you don't spend much time there. Bring your bikes! It was a long way to the pool showers etc. We camped in electric and water only down on the bridge end and we had a real journey to the pool. The pool was fabulous and heated. My kids loved it (ages 5. 4 and 1). We will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very close to town. There is a bike trail to town which takes 10 minutes to ride. The shuttle comes to your camp site and takes you to the ferry docks to go to the island. The pool is a bit small. The roads are good gravel but can get dusty at times. The sites are large and can accommodate large rigs. We've stayed here twice in the past year and we'll stay here again. Campfire wood is available 24 hours a day. Very friendly staff. Very clean restrooms. All the showers could use a better spray head. Overall this is a great campground near enough to everything and yet secluded enough not to hear any noise from the interstate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Despite reading several negative reviews our experience was outstanding. This was probably because we stayed during the "off" season. The sites are very close together however all were vacant around us. In fact only a handful of the sites in the park were occupied. It was quiet and the park was well maintained. The view of the bridge is breathtaking- especially at night. The campgound is only a couple of minutes from downtown Mackinac City. Again if you looking for a peaceful stay go after Labor Day. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very large campground that feels like it's run by a corporation. There are many cabins as well as RV and tent sites. Even though it's big the section we were in offered a fair amount of privacy and quiet. We were in the section that can access satellite TV so we didn't have a direct view of the lake (Huron). That's OK though because it looked pretty crowded along the lake. It was an easy walk to get to the lake so it was just right for us. From the lake shore there is a nice view of Mackinac Bridge and Island. The water had a bad smell and was off color so we tried not to use it. The sites were mainly gravel and fairly level. The office staff was a little stand-offish at first but when I needed to talk to them several times about some mail I was expecting they were very friendly and helpful. The dumpsters are located at the entrance to the park so you must carry it out when you leave. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for the 2008 summer season. This is a very well run family owned campground. The owners are very hard workers and are constantly making updates to the camp sites and cabins. The cabins are absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. The website has a lot of information about the local area and things to do. The store is beautiful and well stocked employees are very friendly. The RV sites are level and clean. You must be able to get along with your neighbor because of the closeness of the sites. The staff had people on duty constantly and any problems that are reported are taken care of immediately. I would stay here again. I just wish the season was longer. It is so beautiful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We really enjoyed this campground. We traveled with three other big rigs. In order for all of our rigs to have full hookups we were off the waterfront; however we had a short walk to the water that had a wonderful view. Overall the park is very well kept. The sites we were on could have used some attention to the foliage. We stayed here three nights and would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This place is well run and clean. We paid extra for a large 50 amp site and it was worth it. Some of the sites can be claustrophobic ,and when there are a lot of kids in the campground they can also be noisy. You pay extra for Wi-Fi and it is poor at best. It works O. K.,but their fair use policy is so tight that even a good sized email will slow to an absolute crawl. Most of the restaurants in town have Wi-Fi so unless you just have to have it take your laptop to town. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have been staying at this campground for more than 5 years. Needless to say we enjoy it. We like the "camping atmosphere" that is has. I enjoy being able to take my family for walks/bike rides on the paved roads and still be able to take a nature walk and/or jog on their multiple natural paths. We love to be able to wake up in the morning and look out at the Mackinaw Bridge and Mackinac Island and be so close that running into historic Mackinaw City is very easy. We have stayed in full hookup sites and Water/Electric. Both are very nice. There is no honey wagon service but we have the "blue tank" which is easy to bring to their well maintained dumping station. Many sites are separated by trees and/or shrubs like arbor vitaes. This is nice for a little seclusion and privacy from neighboring campsites. Some sites are a little narrow but that is an acceptable trade off. In other words. I would rather sacrifice a little space for privacy to looking into your neighbors windows and vice-versa. I love taking walks in the evening and see all the different campsites campers tents motor homes etc. The kids love the playground (there are a few of them but they like the main one best). They like the original playground equipment that the owner's father built. It is a safe playground and we feel safe allowing our children to play there. The nostalgic firetruck that gives rides every night for the children is a great idea and the kids love it. The pool is nice but could use a supervisor if not a lifeguard. We have experienced excessive horseplay there that for some reason some parents allow. The beach is nice but could be a little larger (since the campground owns 1 mile of lake front) and could be slightly better maintained. Our kids love it though! One of the things we like most is the large amount of grassy lake front that is common ground for all to enjoy. This is an area where you can sunbathe relax in front of the lake play ladder golf washers etc. and even enjoy the lighted bridge after dusk. So far we haven't had much to complain about here. If you stay during off season though be prepared for less. The camp store is closed as well as the arcade. There are also no bike rentals during off season. Over all this is a very nice campground. Don't expect an RV resort when you come here just good old fashioned camping at it's best. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great week at Mackinaw City Mill Creek. Hard not to like this campground with the lake right out your door. Staff was great and plentiful to help you out and keep the grounds clean. Only thing it could use is more modern bathrooms and facilities. A very large campground with limited facilities. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
What an experience in this campground. And it is definitely a campground not an RV resort. There are tents everywhere with towels and swimming suits hanging on makeshift clotheslines. It’s full of kids and dogs and it is unbelievably noisy most of the time. The roads are narrow and the sites close together. The rear of our coach was barely three feet away from our neighbors and there was barely space on either side to open our slides. Big wooden posts that are meant to define this narrow space were a real hindrance for backing in. Close living: Kids ran and biked across sites over hoses and under windows. Our neighbors had electrical problems one night and conversed below our bedroom window well after midnight shining flashlights in all directions and talking in loud voices. Dogs: Although there were strictly stated rules on the checkin brochure we had barking dogs on every side. Occasionally someone would shout to the dog which was a bigger intrusion than the barking. Some dogs barked off and on all night long. Firepits: Fires are allowed in designated firepits which guests can move wherever they want. Firewood must be purchased only from the park. A layer of smoke permeated the entire campground much of the time. The two units on our right also smoked an illeagal substance each night around their campfire. Security: There was none. I never saw any monitoring of the campground to provide security or to remind campers about the rules. I felt anything on the coach could be taken or damaged without anyone ever noticing. Garbage: Although there were frequent cans in which to deposit ashes from the omnipresent campfires one had to drive a mile to the front of the park to deposit garbage in the proper area. Water pressure at our site was generally a trickle. Too many waterlines and too many people. Quiet hours: They were stated. 10 p m until 7 a m. and they were totally ignored and certainly not enforced. Would I return? Never never never. It is overpriced oversubscribed and undersupported. It is rustic if not outright primitive. The only thing it has going for it is a beautiful view of the Straits and proximity to all the Mackinac attractions. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an old park and need lots of updating. Playground equipment for the kids is the old metal stuff. The sites were very small and tight. Wi-Fi was not free but signal strength was great. Staff was friendly but there was garbage lying around in a few areas. Our lot faced the lake so the view was great. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
My family has been staying at Mill Creek Campground for a number of years. It's only a few miles from downtown but it's far enough away from the hustle and bustle that we can relax there without being in the middle of downtown. Actually they expanded a lot of the sites last year so there are bigger sites for RVs now and they upped the electric too. It's been really busy on the fourth of July before but other times we have stayed there when it wasn't a holiday it wasn't too bad. They always seem to be upgrading stuff last year they added Wi-Fi coverage so I was able to get the laptop online. They even remodeled the shower buildings which are really nice now. We even got free use of the driving range at their new golf course a few miles away. I would recommend this place any day. We'll keep going back the family that owns/runs the place is really nice and that's number one in my book. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very narrow sites. Site situated across road from lake shore. Great view. Had a family emergency needed to leave 3 nights early- wouldn't give me any kind of refund. Would not stay here again. Made plans for Straits State Park over the bridge We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Yes the park is crowded but not that bad. We stayed in lot 102 so it may have helped that we were near the roadway and didn't have other campers in the way. Never had to wait to use a shower nice water pressure. Only thing I wasn't fond of was the small fire pans. Never could get a decent fire going in that small pan. Probably meant for it to be that way but I'm happy I wasn't planning on cooking over the fire or I would have had to find another way to eat. I would visit again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We returned to this park this year after a number of years without visiting. We stayed in one of the new "large" 50 A FHU sites. I must say that this park has gotten too big for their own good. The park has more than doubled in overall size but the support facilities have remained the same. From where our campsite was to the nearest (only) shower house it was at least 3/4 of a mile! The new sites will be nice some day when the grass starts growing. Right now they are all gravel the "large" sites were larger than the standard full hookup site but the location was well away from the lake. Since the "large" sites command a premium price tag they should be located closer to the lake. Also with 800 plus sites the narrow twisty access roads have outlived their usefulness and are in dire need of re-design hopefully they will get their act together. We will visit again but it won't be for a few years.... We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is huge! Our original reservations were for their deluxe 50 amp sites which were new in 2007. In our area there were no trees or shade of any kind. Our leveling jacks on our motorhome sunk 8-10 inches into the sand/gravel/dirt. These "premium" sights were very far away from the lake pool store etc. Finally after leveling and realizing we were sinking we went back to the office and asked to be relocated. They moved us to a 30 amp site that was close to the lake. These sites were extremely tight for our motorhome and we were unable to use our awning because of the close proximity of our neighbor. The people were very friendly and tried to be helpful. At least at the 30 amp site we weren't sinking. We would probably try to stay somewhere else on our next visit to Mackinaw. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lots of potential in this campground but they need to condense the lakefront sites and make them twice the size that they are now. We had a wonderful view of Lake Huron but could almost reach out and touch our neighbor's camper. We did alot of sightseeing when we stayed at the campground and the location is great for many things like taking the ferry over to Mackinac Island which is a "must do". The sites are just not big enough to accommodate the size of campers today. I wouldn't write the campground off but I do think there are some significant updates that need to be done -- mainly being the size of the sites. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Got back a few days ago from the Mackinaw City area and Mackinaw Mill Campground. For those of you that are wondering what the new extra large full hookup sites are like as I was after hearing all the complaints about the regular size full hookups they are not bad. Our site was right across the road from the full hookups that are by the lake. They have a lot more room than the sites right by the lake. And yes the ones right by the lake are tight but I have seen other campgrounds with just as tight of sites so their's is not all that highly unusual. It also appears they are also adding even more of the large sites further back into the campground. Lot of clearing of land going on and you can see the rough hookups of sewer electric and water they are installing. Looks like a lot of improvements are going on there. As far as the rest of the campground go's it's a pretty nice place. It's clean and well kept. Nice pool although we did not swim as it was fairly cool for the middle of July in the 60's and 70's. Not a bad rec room with several pool tables and a lot of vintage video games. Also a nice bike ride into town as there is a bike path. And yes the view of the bridge it great. I would stay there again if I ever returned to that area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park was huge and the sites were very close together. The view of the bridge was awesome and there was a lot for the family to do. The pool facility was great! We had an excellent time and would return to this campground. Bring bikes it is the only way to get around in a timely fashion. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very large park close to the city of Mackinaw. There are allot of things to see and do close by however the park is very tight. They have put too many camping sites in the park and on most sites you are not even able to open your awning. I did not like how cramped the park felt and the fire pans they give you to have your campfire in were not even big enough to put a whole piece of wood in. My back was against the next sites car in my lawn chair. I would not go back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Had a fantastic time at Mill Creek. We skipped the full hookups which are cramped (however there are new large full hookup sites available this year that are much bigger). We were in a shady section with water and 30 amp and all the sites were very large with many right on the lake across the access road. Great camp store with all the goodies dump station rec room with arcade bike rental propane fill-up all available. WiFi is available in many parts of the park. Staff was very friendly and they were seen throughout the day as they worked in the park. There is a small sandy beach but most of the shore is typical for Lake Huron rocky. The showers and rest rooms were very clean and were taken care of at least twice a day. There weren't very many people in our area but the park was very quiet at night even in the packed full hookup section. Number is posted to call for any loud noise after 11pm so it seems they will enforce it. There is a shuttle bus to the ferries that stops in the park but you are only 3 miles from town. Note there is a Super Walmart in Cheboygen which is about 12 miles south on 23 if you need anything. Basically there are 2 parts to this park: Full hookups that are mostly cramped and nice wooded sites most with electric and many with water. If you can get by without the sewer I think you'll really enjoy the larger and shaded sites available. There is also a really nice rustic and 20 amp section that is perfect for tenters and small popups very heavily wooded almost like a state park. We will be back without a doubt. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
The campground is well cared for staff is friendly and helpful. Even if you don't have a site facing Lake Huron there is a grassy lawn along most of the lake and spectacular sunsets can be seen. We were in Row 4 about the middle of the street and we often could see the lake and Mackinac Island from our rig. We could ride our bikes to Mackinaw City (3 miles of easy biking) and could ride our bikes to Historic Mill Creek which was about one mile away. Only negative is that many sites are too narrow We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Huge park we stayed last week in May so not very crowed yet. Everything clean. Sites are close together. If you get one on the end of the row facing lake very nice. Great view. We would stay again off season. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
30' wide site with picnic table and campfire dish. Roads are paved but sites are gravel. Includes arcade internet cafe playgrounds and cabins. There is no laundry. Awesome view of the Straits of Mackinaw. Beautiful landscaping and excellent maintenance. You must purchase firewood from the resort. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Lakefront sites are beautiful and reasonably priced but a little tight width-wise. If you want lakefront ask for site #609 -- it's huge. Some areas are sunny and some are shady. WiFi is not free but it's pretty cheap if you go for more than one day. Lots of kids around but it's quiet at night. The staff is much in evidence and they come around to clean up after each site is vacated. Would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a third rate park in a million dollar location. The park is grossly underpowered with only 20 and 30 amp sites and even though the park is heavily treed and most satellite systems won't work here management refuses to install cable TV (you can only get three or four channels on your antenna here). Wi-fi is ridiculously expensive in those few sites where you can get it. This park was built when an 18 foot motorhome was a behemoth and it hasn't been upgraded or improved since. A shame that someone has a park with such potential but won't improve it. Stay somewhere else. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very large campground. Some sites heavily wooded and others with a direct view of Lake Huron. Very close to all the tourist spots in downtown Mackinaw City including ferry access to Mackinac Island. Sites for larger rigs near the lakefront are very small but what a great view. Nice long lawn area to take a lawn chair or fly a kite. We wanted to have a campfire - but would not consider it as we did not feel it would be safe being so close to our neighbors. Neither the store or the internet cafe was open during our stay. We assume these amentities were not available after labor day however the rates remained the same. It was very quiet during the day and at night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Huge campground with tremendous variety of sites. Our experience was quite different than the last reviewer's - probably due to our location. If I was rating the full hookup section (bridgeview area) I'd probably give it a 6 due to the small size of the sites and the lack of shade. We were happy to be in the older section near the pool bath house store and gameroom. This section has plenty of shade trees nice size sites with water and electric hookups only - it might be worthwhile to skip the sewer hookup to camp here. There is another more densely wooded area with lots of privacy but too much road noise for us (section nearest entrance and office). The only thing better than the view and watching the moon rise over the water each night was our fellow campers! This came as a pleasant surprise especially considering the amount of alcohol available for purchase in the store. We stayed from a Friday-Tuesday in late August and were surrounded by families and retired couples - no partiers! Less than 5 minutes to Mackinaw City and ferries to Mackinac Island. Only complaint were the showers - clean yes - but need to be reconfigured. Curtains separating stalls instead of walls no way to adjust water temperature (too hot) and shower heads that keep timing out. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Excellent Campgound with beautiful views of the Mackinaw Bridge. Landscaped lakefront park with park benches. Sites were tight together but view was worth it. The tent sites have great shade and privacy while the full hook up sites are not as private. Exceptional cabins available for non-campers. I really liked this park even with tight spacing. We camped here in a Motorhome.
After our first visit with a small Motorcoach I said that I would never return-600 campsites and one bathhouse are you kidding me!? Now we have a 36' 5th wheel and believe or not we went back (I mention how big our fiver is here for those who have stayed their before-it is a true test of your camper parking abilities like no other place wouldn't you agree?). Why did we return? Location location location! Forgive them for their shortcomings (extremely cramped sites and horrible amenities)-full hook up is the only way to go here. It is the best place in the Mackinaw area-which is a beautiful area! During the 4th of July you can sit on the Lake Huron shoreline and watch the fireworks going on at Mackinaw City. Mackinaw Island and St. Ignace in one sitting. Add the view of a lighted Mackinaw bridge into all of that and it is truly breathtaking. They probably won't ever improve their sites-they are not lacking customers because it is a great location and probably don't feel the need to change what they have. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Although they list "600 sites with lake view," there are sites numbered in the 900's you do need to stroll for a lake view. All the sites are very tight to the extent of our awning being 4 feet from our neighbor's slide outs and being within 10 feet of their trailer. Limited privacy because of congestion. Very crowded park and due to the number of people one must be extremely cautious when riding bikes with children. The vent stacks from the full hookup sewers produced a horrible smell which was hard to get away from. We couldn't have a fire due to the site size and the danger of it burning our trailer or truck. Rules were set out for speed limits in the park and no dogs on common areas or beach but not enforced. Pool definately did not feel heated. The store is pricey and sells hard liquor which loud patrons took advantage of. We needed to leave the campground to enjoy some peace and would never return to this site again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We paid extra for a water front site only to find out that there is no beach just slippery moss cover rocks. We took the grand kids to the pool only to find about 30 unsupervised kids running diving and jumping around of course they had three signs up prohibiting all of these things and also stating that no one under 16 was allowed in the pool without an adult present. Well there were no parents and no one from the park to enforce the rules. The bathrooms and showers are few and far between (this is a very big park) it would have been at least a ten minute walk to the shower house. The sites were very small when the people next to us made a fire I had to move our car to keep the flames from it. When we first pulled into the park there were tons of employees there to tell use where to park and where to go to register but other then the front gate I don't recall seeing another employee anywhere in the park. As we drove through the park we notice numerous sites where the picnic tables were covered with empty beer and wine bottles it was quiet in our area but I don't see how it could have been in these areas. We would not camp here again. (5 years full timing) We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lots of stuff to do in area and overall a nice campground. Some sites are smaller than others with full hookup sites close together. Campground grounds are well maintained. Although dates of operation were listd as May 1 to October 31,we visited in September after Labor Day and found the store and area for modem was locked tight even though lots of campers still head to this area and were camping here. Also there was only 1 bathroom area still open with 2 showers and 4 stools for entire park. They are now charging an extra $4 nightly for waterfront lots which they hadn't done on prior visits We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very good park. We unhooked our tow upon arrival in town and looked at theother area campgrounds and decided to stay here. They have nice sites and are very clean. It was quiet at night and some sites are across from the lake with a nice view of the lake and bridge. I would definitely stay here again. The management said sewer hookups had been approved by the city and would be installed next year. I believe it is a little expensive though for only water and electric hookups at present. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Overall this is a very nice campground. The campground was well maintained with mostly paved roads The sites really vary. Some are quite large and are under tall trees some are small and out in the open. Sites with tall trees are closer to the highway but the road noise was very minimal. The full hook ups near the lake are more like a little village with a little shade. It was mostly families or older couples. The lake view is great but there isn't much for beach because Lake Huron is rocky and cold. They don't let you reserve a particular site so be very clear about what type of site you like and what you do or don't want to be near. We didn't like the site they assigned to us but they were quite gracious about letting us switch. The staff were very friendly. We had a nice large site under the trees but we discovered the skeeters were worse here than the open sites near the lake. If we returned we would stay near the lake. The showers and bathrooms were kept very clean but the water was barely lukewarm for showers. This was our only complaint otherwise we would return. Very reasonably priced. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This is a wonderful campground. Close to everything. Many of the sites have a view of Mackinaw bridge. The only down side I can say is the full hookup sites are small. When we were there my pop out touched the awning of the neighbor. There is a lot of common areas to use. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is a basic park for short stays. There are no sewer hookup. You have to move your rig to the dump station. Shower bathrooms were moderately clean but not a pleasure to use. Shower and change room floors were kind of yucky. Rate paid included a Good Sams discount. I would stay again for a night but no longer. Sites are very heavily used by tenter's. Loud music playing. Many many camp fires causing smoke problems. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I'm sorry I didn't have more time to spend. I was traveling home and stopped for the night. The park is on the Lake Huron side of the Mackinaw bridge in a nice cove. Spots are wide and shaded. Many activity areas - basketball court beach etc. It quieted down at 10. They have access to the tourist things in the area. Showers and toilets were very clean. Overall the CG is well kept even seasonal sites were kept up. Would stay here again (for longer next time). We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground has a beautiful view of the Mackinaw Bridge and Island. The facilities were very clean and the grounds were well-maintained. We will definitely be back again and more importantly tell our friends to visit! We camped here in a Tent.
Park was clean but extremely crowded. It's an alternative to a hotel but just as busy and just as close to downtown. As we pulled in you could see many of the sites right from the highway. Will not come back here it doesn't feel like camping it feels more like just one more place to get crowded in to. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Small quiet clean campground with a few lake view sites or just a short walk to thelake from other sites. Nice view of the bridge. Very friendly helpful staff. Small playground. Only downside no sewer hookups but not a biginconvenience. Enjoyed it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Had site right on water with views of UP. You could walk from your site through a trail and site on the beach. Nice. Tons of bike and walking trails. Close to town and UP. Only complaint is showers. You had to keep pushing the button on the wall for the shower water to keep running. Not a problem they did get you clean just annoying. The sites along the beach were all sand so be prepared with a broom. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Beautiful beaches to walk fish and swim. Wonderful woods with nature trails. A large wilderness area. Sites have fire pits and picnic tables. Sites are at least 40' wide. Paved pads and access roads. Plenty of staff. Very family friendly. Twenty minutes from town with all the major tourist attractions. This would be a ten if it had water and sewer at sites. In the newer Pines campground many sites are close enough to a water tap to run a hose to fill fresh water tanks. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I believe we were the first campers for the 2008 season. We arrived mid April in mid week to find a maintenance guy hooking up the power. All the picnic tables were still neatly stored on their sides for the winter. Snow was still under trees. Ice was still 50' out from the beach. Beautiful park & we had it all to ourselves for a couple nights. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Resting on the shores of Lake Michigan this park is a gem. Many sandy water front sites or if you prefer wooded sites with long asphalt pads for big RVs are available. The park is remote - 11 miles from town but offers great camping with a beach and other camping activities offered by state parks. We were able to get satellite in the beach campground after carefully selecting our site. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the best campgrounds we have been to. This campground is very close to the beach and the beach is great. They have many trails and the park is very close to Mackinaw city where you adults and children can do just about anything. We will be back next year. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
