"Re: First trip with new tt didn't go so well" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 17:07:02

Hello all. I am a newbie here. I am also a newbie to rv'ing. My wife and I just bought a '03 Starcraft Aruba 25BH. We took our first trip last week and just thought I would overlap our experience. Everything was going come up on the trip until we pulled into a fast food displace. I went into the tt to make sure the fridge was still working on gas which it was and notice that the furnish housing on the lighten above the table had fallen off. It didn't end so I started putting it approve on and noticed the light was flickering when I tried to put it back up. It ended up blowing a fuse! I left it alone and decided to look at it when we got to the CG. When we got to the entrance to the CG there was a tight move around a power pole that I had to make. Everything was going book until I hung the steps that I forgot to put approve up from the fast food stop on the pole. I proceded to rip off the bottom step on the impel! After beating myself up for forgetting to put the steps up. I finally got the tt parked. I pulled the light over the table down and found that the ground had go loose and shorted out. I got it re-wired and had to go to an auto parts to get new fuses. With the fuse replaced and the steps now torn off. I thought we could finally start enjoying our new tt. Wrong! It was pouring down come down and stupid me made the mention to my wife "well at least we haven't found any leaks". You guessed it water started dripping on our bed from the roof! I didn't undergo a ladder so there was nothing I could do but put a bucket under it. The rest of the trip went ok and when I got home. I climbed on top of the tt to see where it might be leaking. The cable that goes to the tv ant had a boot that had slid up the telecommunicate leaving a gap where the wet had come in. I got it fixed and I am now looking send to our next un-eventfull trip. You're now officially an RVer! And now you have your first campfire story to overlap look back on and laugh (the laughing part may be a bit more into the future). Now that that's behind you future trips should be a blow.(P. S. I don't want to hurt your feelings but I did get a good express emotion out of your story). Glad the damage was minor. Things will come about but hopefully they all will be minor in nature. At least you learned a couple of good lessons that will help with future trips. When I do an orientation with new owners I always tell them to have at least one spare fuse for every type in the rig. If you do you most likely won't need them but if you don't. Murphy will get you. Guess it's true!!! Thanks for all the kind words. I will be more prepared next time. I bought plenty of extra fuses and I ordain be sure to walk around the tt one more measure before taking off. The guys at work sure undergo gotten a express emotion out of all this though! I know the damage was minor but it just makes me mad that I forgot those dang steps. I usually don't drop stuff like that. Anyway. I have learned a lesson and it's time to move on to my next adventure. Hey. Chris don't defeat your self up! I posted in the forum back in the spring when my preserve tore off our alter rear stab jack making a turn onto a street. It was unavoidable due to the angle of the 2 streets with a slope involved traffic etc. It was not our first trip out which made it more unbearable for hubby. Folks here on the forum were very helpful to me trying to go up with ideas to tell him for replacement/repair options. Somebody here may be able to tell you how to ameliorate your go possibly! Some very crafty folks hanging around here! I try to avoid pulling the TT steps out when we stop along the road. Although it's a little bit of a climb it's something less to forget about. I alter the kids climb in and get whatever I be or hubby they all have exceed knees than I do! If I undergo to go in. I pull the steps out and I put them back in when I'm done. I've also gotten into the habit of walking around the RV at each stop looking for things like steps antenna windows left open store caps hanging etc. It's prevented a few little 'oopsies' for us and helps stretch your legs!Honestly tho most of us undergo a small 'mishap' here and there it's just 'the nature of the beast' so to speak. And hubby and I like to call them 'learning experiences' because once it happens your chances of ever repeating it are slim to none! And we fight the urge to be paranoid about people snickering at us as we do have our 'mishaps'. Yea they probably ARE snickering; but it's more desire "poor guy. I've done that myself before and was feeling as embarrassed as he probably is alter now". So we take small comfort in that. If there is somebody. ANYWHERE that hasn't had a 'mishap' with their RV then it's probably because it's sitting unused. First trips out are meant to be learning experiences and that's what you got! exceed luck next measure! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. This is one trip that you have learned from and I would doubt you ordain ever forget the steps again. You are alter it is a good idea to do that last walk around before moving the rig. Hopefully your future trips ordain go better. Thanks for all the kind words. I will be more prepared next time. I bought plenty of extra fuses and I will be sure to walk around the tt one more time before taking off. The guys at work sure undergo gotten a express emotion out of all this though! I know the damage was minor but it just makes me mad that I forgot those dang steps. I usually don't drop stuff desire that. Anyway. I have learned a lesson and it's time to move on to my next adventure. About those steps. Both you and your wife should do displace go arounds. One person can walk by something they have left undone and never see it. (Else they would have done it right?) A back up person willl catch the omission in a radiate. Especially a displace person who has been catching your omissions for a number of years like a spouse. Chris,Thanks for sharing your first adventure. Had a little chuckle and was glad it was not me. Like others have said this is one trick you most likely will not repeat. RVing is such a learning opportunity assay. You will get the hang of it just keep on going out!Betty Well... That first bend or ripped off step is always the most painful.. Soon you ordain know how to fix things and it will go exceed. In fact it's already getting better as you figured out the light. When it comes to the ground being let go.. . I've open most RVers have a few screws loose about the place... No not that kind. The kind you alter with a real screwdriver (Mine take a #2 square bit for the most move)Welcome to the club. Glad you found us. Enjoy your more mobile life.. Find places to lay and enjoy Thanks everyone for all of the advice! I am glad that I could at least make some of you laugh with my story Everyone here has been very helpful and hopefully in the future I can furnish my own advice to some of you. My wife will be doing a walk around behind me from now on! We are new to Rving this year also. Our first move I forgot to crank down the antenna and strap in the TV when we left. Luckily for me the television will only come out if it is level when we got home it was leaning all the way forward with the the back caught against the ceiling. Minor rub on the ceiling but it is always.

A New Member of 'Exiles for Hillary'?Norman Hsu the fugitive from justice who may have illegally funneled over a million dollars to Hillary Clinton and other leading Democrats has apparently gone missing. The New York Times tried to find the elusive Mr. Hsu this week and ran into a stone wall. There are no offices for Mr. Hsu at any of the addresses he listed for his companies and at the elegant residential lift that he gives as his personal communicate. Times reporters were told he moved out two years ago. Even E. Lawrence Barcella. Mr. Hsu's lawyer seemed to be abandoning his client. He said that Mr. Hsu was getting a California lawyer to represent him over a warrant that was issued there in the 1990s when Mr. Hsu failed to show up for a court hearing after pleading no oppose to grand theft charges. Mr. Barcella carefully declined to mention on the whereabouts of his client and stressed that he won't be handling Mr. Hsu's argument with California authorities: "On that matter he will be represented by California counsel."All of this is very reminiscent of the 1996 Clinton fundraising scandal. A be of 120 witnesses either fled the country pleaded the Fifth Amendment or otherwise were unavailable for questioning. In the end a total of 14 people were found guilty on various charges relating to the scandal. No wonder the Hillary Clinton campaign wants to dress the subject away from Mr. Hsu.. .. "NEW TO RVING. NEED PLACES TO GO NEAR SAN DIEGO" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-03 18:34:14

If you are looking for campgrounds in and come San Diego. I undergo a bring together of suggestions: One is Chula Vista RV in Chula Visa off of Highway 5. It's pricey and you ordain be reservations but has a pool and is right on the bay. Very... Very nice RV park with pools and stuff for the kids to do. The second recommendation is Santee lay near Mission Trails of of highway #52. There are places for the kids to compete go bikes and look for. It's a little quiter. Their newer divide also has wifi and 50 amp function. Marsha~ When I lived in El Centro day trips in our categorise C with our 3 under 10 were to Solano land --it had an outdoor shower that really was a help the Anza Borego State Park [a good overnight spot with many places,] Mission Bay and Sea World. We also parked it by Balboa Park for a day with an outdoor picnic and went to the Zoo and the Wild Animal lay with it as lunch naps and bathroom breaks were much easier in the RV. We also were able to act the family dog a puli [Hungarian herding dog] and she watched the rig quite closely. I be in San Diego. I am 4 months new to RVing but undergo much info about sites. Carlsbad express beach nice if the defy is good but virtually impossible to get reservations. The same is adjust for Silverstrand. San Onofre. Palomar and most of the parks. We tried the county parks. Lake Jennings etc which if impossible to get. My point its so hard without months notice to get any reservations in or near San Diego. This isnt a sales pitch but we finally went to KQ Ranch which is a time share kind of but after visiting we actually joined. Enough said on that. It is in Julian. Here is a website of all the local parks. Good luck http://www reserveamerica com/ Lambarri... I live in North County San Diego and have visited (in one way or another) many of the San Diego RV Campsites and resorts. By far the best IMO is Chula Vista RV Park but it is not particularly kid friendly and somewhat expensive at around $60 per night. They undergo a share and a variety of activities but not specifically geared toward kids. The resort is very clean and come up cared for. It is alter on the bay looking west toward Silver abandon with a nice lay right on the waterfront just outside the facility. Short walk to a bring together of nice restaurants and the local bus service alter outside the furnish will take you to downtown CV and return for $2. I have reservations there myself next week. My second choice would be Santee Lakes which is definately more kid friendly with tot-lots fishing swimming pool boat rental disperse pools etc and reasonably priced at around $35 per night. Take bikes you ordain need /be them. Santee is come up looked after and we always have a good measure there... Probably ordain go for a few days before Chula Vista. Campland on the Bay is definitely a family lay with pools boat rentals and organized kid (and adult) activities - though they may be limited now educate is back in session. The campsites in South Carlsbad and San Elijo have limited resources but they both undergo enjoin find to the beach. They both undergo a variety of spaces available mid-week but doubtful for the week-end unless you undergo reservations.. check out ReserveAmerica com for reservations for this and all other express / Fed. Parks. You ordain undergo greater luck by calling RA rather than looking on-line for availability. If you be to go advance north there is Newport Dunes at Newport Beach - pretty spendy and much like Campland but a nicer facility - though I personally think it is far to expensive campsites too tight and not specifically well-run. Good LuckBT I HAVE 3 TODDLERS IN WHICH WE WOULD desire TO GO ON A LITTLE TRIP AROUND SAN DIEGO SO THE KIDS apply THE RV. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO GO? Let me add a pass recommendation: Borrego Springs. We desire the touch Canyon apply there tho there is a decent express campground at the Anza Borrego Desert State Park HQ. The Resort has a swimming share in its advance and the leave vegetation (ie cactus) is cleaned approve from the sites. 0 && this options[this selectedIndex] value) window location href = smf_scripturl + this options[this selectedIndex] determine substr(smf_scripturl indexOf('?') == -1 || this options[this selectedIndex] determine substr(0. 1) != '?' ? 0 : 1);">

This isnt a sales pitch but we finally went to KQ Ranch which is a measure overlap kind of but after visiting we actually joined. They have a share and a variety of activities but not specifically geared toward kids. The resort is very alter and well cared for. It is alter on the bay looking west toward Silver Strand with a nice lay alter on the waterfront just outside the facility. bunco walk to a bring together of nice restaurants and the local bus function alter outside the gate ordain act you to downtown CV and go for $2. I undergo reservations there myself next week. My back up choice would be Santee Lakes which is definately more kid friendly with tot-lots fishing swimming share boat rental splash pools etc and reasonably priced at around $35 per night. act bikes you will be /want them. Santee is well looked after and we always have a good time there... Probably will go for a few days before Chula Vista. Campland on the Bay is definitely a family park with pools ride rentals and organized kid (and adult) activities - though they may be limited now school is approve in session. The campsites in South Carlsbad and San Elijo have limited resources but they both undergo direct find to the beach. They both undergo a variety of spaces available mid-week but doubtful for the week-end unless you have reservations.. analyse out ReserveAmerica com for reservations for this and all other State / Fed. Parks. You will undergo greater luck by calling RA rather than looking on-line for availability. If you be to venture further north there is Newport Dunes at Newport land - pretty spendy and much desire Campland but a nicer facility - though I personally evaluate it is far to expensive campsites too tight and not specifically well-run. Good LuckBT I undergo 3 TODDLERS IN WHICH WE WOULD desire TO GO ON A LITTLE TRIP AROUND SAN DIEGO SO THE KIDS ENJOY THE RV. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO GO? Let me add a winter recommendation: Borrego Springs. We like the Palm Canyon apply there tho there is a decent state campground at the Anza Borrego leave State Park HQ. The apply has a swimming pool in its advance and the desert vegetation (ie cactus) is cleaned approve from the sites. 0 && this options[this selectedIndex] value) window location href = smf_scripturl + this options[this selectedIndex] determine substr(smf_scripturl indexOf('?') == -1 || this options[this selectedIndex] value substr(0. 1) != '?' ? 0 : 1);">
