This park isn't much to look at but looks can be deceiving. It's quiet clean and affordable. The $24 overnight rate was after the Good Sam discount and taxes. The site I was on (not sure any of them are numbered) was dirt and sand. 50/30/20 electric at the pedestal as well as cable TV (about 60-channels) and water. Many of the sites are shaded but I also saw units in an open area that had no shade. The staff was friendly and efficient. The Wi-Fi is no additional charge and was more than strong enough to be able to use it inside my motor home without the need for an external Wi-Fi adapter. I would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed here overnight coming back from a 3 month trip with a lot of boondocking. It was far enough from the Expressway to stop the noise. WiFi was free and strong but kept cutting out. Last stop before going home so we back-flushed a long while. Bath and showers nice. Not much at exit but one exit north has lots of stuff. If you use Next Exit book there is a mistake in the order of exits so be careful. We would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Due to its location it is a very good campground for a one night stopover. They gave us a pull-thru site and cable and Wi-Fi were included. They are in the process of expanding the campground so that they will be able to accommodate additional seasonal residents. It seems that as the seasonal prices for campgrounds continue to escalate in central and south Florida more people are choosing this area because it is more affordable. This campground would be a good choice in that respect. We camped here in a Motorhome. Nice Campground most overnight campers go on nice open field no problems with trees or maneuvering big rigs around. They show you to site propane for sale by office no electrical problems has mailbox area for seasonal campers close to pizza and ice cream store on busy exit. Some sites are close to busy road where big trucks go to service shop all night. Other than that noise quiet sites in entrance area and in far back. Lots of seasonal campers. Nice little store next exit is to Mall area. Great location wonderful employees has entertainment on certain holidays and wonderful meals in rec room around christmas time. No recreation for children has weight room and laundry. Wifi is great in certain areas. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. As mentioned in other reviews this is a great place for an overnight stop being close enough to I-75 but out of earshot of the freeway noise. We found an inconsistency between the rate advertised on their website and what they charged us and their wi-fi service was not as good as they told us it would be. But the park was pleasantly shaded with lots of trees. (Actually when we were there the trees were dropping acorns that hit the top of our rig and sounded like baseballs!) We used their laundry which was small but adequate. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We stayed for 3 days with a rally. Overall good experience. No pads or picnic table but power was ok (Stayed around 110 to 115). Water pressure was good. Biggest drawback was the sewer. They do not have a pumping station. They are on old fashion gravity fed sewer. Was full when we attempted to dump. Overall good overnighter and for small groups... We camped here in a Motorhome. A good place to rest one or two nights before moving on. Nice laundry and some small shops within walking distance but for stocking up with groceries or any other serious shopping one must drive a the interstate a couple of miles north. Owners are very friendly and accommodating and I would stay overnight again when passing through. Nice grassy spots and the manager spots the campers so as to provide as much separation and possible. Quite place the few nights I stayed there. Close to the Interstate but noise level is negligible. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is primarily a 55+ winter time snowbird campground. It is a fine park however for a stopover. It is safe quiet and clean with lots of nice space for a walk. The bathrooms were very clean but dated. With only one shower two toilets and two sinks (one for the guys) it was good that there were only a few overnighters. Definitely use this park while traveling through on I-75. We camped here in a Motorhome. This park is best for overnight stops or a short visit. Attractive and well maintained. Dirt roads which are dusty. It is a short distance off I-75 but noise is minimal. There are quite a number of permanents but for the most part the permanent sites are well kept. Has an exercise room with several pieces of equipment. Did not see a playground area for children. The only thing I did not like is that the sites are very narrow. It was not full while we were there and they were parking folks on every other site so we were not so tight. They have both open sites and sites with shade trees. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We used "Coast to Coast Good Neighbor" to get our $13 rate. It was a good place for a 1 night stopover and they provided us a pull-thru site so we did not even have to unhook. However since it is very close to I-75 it was very noisy. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a family owned campground. The campground the restrooms/showers and laundry room are kept in immaculate condition. The owners are friendly and go out of their way to help you if you encounter a problem. The campground has occasional entertainment in their recreational hall which we were fortunate enough to be able to participate in. The singer was great! They have a super bowl dinner/party on Super Bowl Sunday with wide screen TV viewing of the game. We understand from some of the seasonal tenants that the owners also provide outstanding Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners which they have entirely prepared themselves for all who are in the park on those two holidays. The seasonal tenants also praise the owners for the outstanding fall and Christmas holiday decorations throughout the park. I would wholeheartedly recommend this park to anyone. To add to my review it is very easy to access the park from the interstate. You do not have to drive miles out of your way to have a place to sleep for the night. We were so impressed with the park we stayed longer than we had intended to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome. This park is located less than a mile from a Freightliner repair center and has big rigs running up and down the road all times of the day and night which was very noisy and the big rigs would cause our trailer to vibrate. The owners are very friendly when sober but proved to be irate when drunk (which was the majority of the time). Most campground occupants have been there for years and one occupant runs a big rig detailing business at his trailer which blocks traffic in and out of the park and adds to the noise level. We will not stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Great for over-night. Free cable & Wi-Fi. Very convenient to I-75. Gentleman in office was very nice. Park appeared to be well maintained. Good Sam park so we saved 10%. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. A small Ma & Pa campground just off I-75 at Lake City. Staff was very friendly. Most occupants have been there for years and their RV's show it. It seems as if they turned the back yard into RV spaces for people just stopping for the night. Despite being old the park seemed clean grass cut etc. Can't beat the price. No ammenities just a place to stop for the night. On our visit most of the people in our section were staying there for the Florida - Florida state game in Gainesville. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a very friendly small park quite convenient to the Interstate but far enough away to be quiet. The owners went out of their way to make us welcome while our truck engine was being replaced. In fact since our truck was crippled they moved our trailer onto the campsite using their own truck. They repeatedly extended our stay with no complaints as we went through deadline after deadline with the repair service. They loaned us a vehicle without question after the repair shop reclaimed the first loaner. They helped us with advice about dealing with that repair shop. Overall they were genuinely nice. The only thing that keeps this from being a ten is the lack of laundry facilities. We would definitely stay here again. By the way if you have vehicle problems. DO NOT deal with Toney's 24 Hour Road Service across the road. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We stopped here for a quick overnight stay because we wanted cable TV and pull through so we wouldn't have to unhook our tow vehicle. There is NO cable TV in the rear sites. The advertising is very misleading in Woodalls and the owner did not make us aware of this. They provided a refund upon request. We camped here in a Motorhome. The park was clean and easy to get in site. In the rear we stayed in site 78 on a corner. In a 45' rig it was difficult to make the turn into the site as they had recommended the way to turn in. Going a different way we were in easily. The mall and plenty of restaurants were practically across the street. Great for an overnight stop. We camped here in a Motorhome. Warning..... In the park brochure they advertise that they have the internet(wifi)which is not true, they are bouncing off other business internet in the area and to receive it you have to up close near it. Also they say that all sites are full hookup but in the back spaces you cannot receive cable and they charge the same price for them. Also the bathrooms are fithy and have been painted over but never washed down. There are a few people there that live in make shift tents that are nothing but plastic and there is one man in one of the tents that walks around in his black color underwear which shows everything; not a good thing for young children or women to see or be around and nothing is done about this. Also the laundry is also rundown only two washing machines and 2 dryers if one or both break downs he say there is nothing he can do. So if you decide to stay there youv'e been warned. We camped here in a Motorhome. Called to make a reservation for a pull thru site with cable tv. Offered to "hold" the site with a credit card and was told it was not necessary because they had plenty of sites available. Arrived at the Park checked in and went to the site. Site was wet muddy uneven with ruts and NO cable tv. Called the office and was told all the cable sites were rented. Asked for a refund and was refused. WILL NOT stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed at this park 2 years ago and it was in much better condition back then. The park is fine for a quick overnight stay. There are a number of full time trailers and a few make-shift tents on the property. The bathrooms are terribly dirty and most of the sinks and stalls were inoperable. In the back of the park where they send most of the overnighters a 4 foot fence separates the park from a colony of homeless people. We will find another place to stay in Lake City when we return. We camped here in a Motorhome. BEWARE.... MANAGER OF THE PARK WILL HAVE AN EYE ON YOU AT ALL TIMES.. DONT DO NOTHING HE DOESN'T WANT YOU TO DO OR HE'LL THREATEN TO KICK YOU OUT AND KEEP YOUR RENT. BATHROOMS ARE VERY DIRTY WOULD NOT WASH MY DOG IN THEIR BATHROOMS. HAD TO CALL THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT. HE HAD BARS OF SOAP SITTING ON A WOODEN SHELF THAT EVERYONE USED. SOME OF THE TOILETS HAD HUMAN WASTE ON THE WALLS AND STILL DOES. ADVERTISES THAT THEY HAVE WIFI AND HE DOESN'T HAVE THAT AT ALL AND HE USES HIS BROTHER'S INTERNET AT HIS MOTEL THAT YOU CANNOT RECEIVE IN THE PARK. YOU HIT AND MISS YOU HAVE TOO HAVE A BOOSTER SYSTEM TO RECEIVE THE INTERNET. AND ON THE WEEKENDS YOU HAVE TO PUT UP WITH HIS NOISE FROM ALL HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS PLAYING GAMES IN THE FIELD NEXT DOOR FROM EARLY AFTERNOON UNTIL EVENING. BUT YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE ANY NOISE. EXAMPLE: NO MUSIC.......... TAKE IT FROM EXPERIENCE THE PARKS NAME IS IN AND OUT AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU WILL BE.. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY... MONTHLY SPOTS ARE NOT WORTH $430.55 IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE OVER NIGHT YOU ARE BETTER OFF STAYING IN WALMART PARKING LOT OVERNIGHT WHICH IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. PS.. THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE PARK IS 5MPH THAT IS FOR VISTORS.. THE MANAGER DOES AT LEAST 40-50MPH AND THERE ARE CHILDREN IN THE PARK. We camped here in a Motorhome. Only used it for a over night stop but would not stay there if I was spending time in the area. There were a lot of residents there with some of them living in tents with blue tarps stretched out. Person next to us resident did not pick up after their dog so had to be careful where I stepped. It is located behind a gas station which makes it Helpful if you are needing fuel and a place to stay for the night. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a very basic campground that is very close to the interstate but without the interstate noise. It's located behind a convenience store/gas station and the owners are on the property. Interior roads are paved but the sites are grass and dirt and many seemed to be quite rutted making it somewhat hard to get level. There are small trees in the front half of the place but no real shade. There were a lot of RV's coming and going each of the 6 days we spent there but the entire front of the campground was full most of the time. As soon as someone left someone else would come in to take their place. It's also right in the middle of a shopping strip district. Lots of commercialization with stores chain restaurants etc. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is no longer a KOA. This was our third trip to this campground. The sites are paved and level. The electric hookup is great. Water pressure a little low. This park is very clean and well ran. The pool is sparkling clean. The staff are very friendly. This campground is about a mile off of I-10. No road noise! My wife nor I can really think of anything bad to say about this location. We will be back... We camped here in a Motorhome. Very clean well organized. hosts very friendly.. sites are somewhat close together and the spot I was assigned gave me a choice open the awning or open the slide (depending on position in the spot relative the trees). but since I was only there overnight this is not seen as a problem.. away from the interstate enough not to pick up the sounds of the traffic but close enough to be convenient. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Located in a run-down area. Autos "drag racing" and owner's dogs barking late into the night kept us awake after a long day on the road. Many long term units and lots of people sitting around. Not a secure feeling. Campground staff very abrupt and not at all friendly. Would not stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Easy to find one mile off the highway. For overnight stay they had very long pull-thru sites. We felt that these sites were to close to the long term sites. The WiFi was a bit of a hassel with alot of instructions to log on and a fee of $3.00 a day. No shaded sites and seem to be a bit remote. We just did not have a good secure feeling there. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Pull throughs are 120 ft long. Cable TV was free. Swimming pool open in season. March 1-October 31. Some shaded sites. Places to go sightseeing. All within a few miles. Stayed in Kottage. RV sales and service close by. Will go back in July. Office personal were Friendly and helpful. 1 mile off I-10. Exit 303. We camped here in a ?. The owners of this Passport America park are very nice and quick to respond to a problem. My only problem was I needed a hammer to open my truck cap handle which jammed. One reason I really like this park is they have a fenced area where dogs can run and play off leash while I sit on a comfortable bench. I also really enjoy having Wi-Fi and seek out parks that offer it. I've stayed there before and I'll stay again. It is near I-10 but with the a/c running I couldn't hear any traffic noise. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Campground was very clean with gravel roads. Concrete pads and no pool. Good for an overnight stay. Very easy access to I-10 and there was no noticeable road noise from I-10. We camped here in a Motorhome. They advertise big rig sites but we found the sites to be limited in space. Luckily we only stayed one night and the park was not very full. Judging from the size of the sites if the park was full it would be a very tight fit. Park is right next to I-10 so if road noise bothers you this isn't the place for you. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Park is in very low ground. When it rains the water stands for a couple of days. The area around the park has standing water all the time it must be bad when the mosquitoes are out. Interstate 10 and the entrance ramp is next to the campground which is loud all night. Sites are close together but adequate. There's a nice dog park/run available. Staff is friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very nice park with easy access to I-10 but road noise didn't seem to be a problem. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the park is very clean. Nice size sites that are fairly level with good shade. The cable offers lots of channels and wifi worked great. They also have many areas to walk pets. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very friendly owners. Easy on and off I-10. Park very clean. We stayed on Passport America for 3 nights. I-10 noise may bother some people. We will stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome. We have been stopping here on the way south and north for over a year. It's great for an overnight or short stay. They seem to have fixed the WiFi and we had a very good signal the last couple of times we stayed there. And it's FREE. The cable is great and even has HD stations up at the higher channels. Because of that we stayed New Years Day to watch the bowl games. The owners. Jim and Cherrie are very nice. We asked to be parked out back in the open so we could use our dish and they have been very accommodating. We used the Passport America rate. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very nice park. Great for overnight or a short stay. Well maintained gravel roads. The office staff were very friendly. The free cable TV had a good signal as did the free WiFi. We were in site #48. The 30 Amp AC service was a little low under moderate load (112 V) but was adequate. The Passport America rate is good for 3 nights with no extra charge for electric heaters. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Very very nice park. Owners are wonderful. Take you to your site helps you line up we can't say enough about them. Site level with patios. A little off I-75 but well worth the drive. We camped here in a Motorhome. Nice people at this campground. Very friendly. The Park was ok. The sites were close together but adequate. Traffic noise from the nearby interstate can be distracting if you let it. It is a great place for an overnight or a few nights. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a very nice park. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The campground is neat and well kept. We received the Passport America rate and were treated very well. We would certainly stay here again. This is an excellent park for an overnight stay. We camped here in a Motorhome. Not a destination but a very nice stopover campground. Just 2 minutes off I-10. Sites were fairly spacious and the owners very nice. Plus they have a small but fenced in dog run area so you can let your pets run a bit. We would stop here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. A very nice older park being upgraded by new owners. It is exceedingly convenient to reach one edge of the campground being only 150 yards from I-10. As a result there was road noise which might bother some persons (not us). The campground staff were very pleasant and accommodating. We paid the Passport America 50% rate. We will return again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. The park was clean with some of the lots shaded under oaks. We were in the pull-through section for big rigs and had no shade. Park is close to I-10 and that is convenient to get in and out of but because it is near the interstate you get a lot of road noise. Its a good overnight park in the unshaded area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Fine for an overnight stop but pretty noisy this close to the interstate. Sites are a bit narrow. We had to drag the picnic table off the patio to open our slide. They were parking us every other one so it wasn't a possible. Really nice office staff. Nice Passport America park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Very nice park close to I-10 & I-75. All roads in park are gravel. 20 sites are gravel and 47 are grass all sites are close to level. You have space from site to site. Park has a number of nice trees to park under. Free WiFi worked very well with three systems in park. Ground layout was very nice to look at. Owners were nice at check in and take you to your site. Some road noise off I-10. We camped here in a Motorhome. We only stayed one night on the way to central Florida. It was easy on and off I-10 and a little noisy due to the interstate. The hosts were very friendly and took us to our site. The site had a concrete slab and patio with a picnic table. The campground was very dog friendly even having an area where the dogs could run off leash. There were some seasonal sites which appeared to have been well looked after and clean. The washrooms were clean and large and found in the recreation/meeting hall. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We have been camping here since this campground was built in 2000. While all the owners have been nice. Jim and Cherri the present owners have been the best. They work very hard at keeping the campground in tip top shape and someone is always around if you should need something. We will keep returning. We camped here winter 2005-2006 in a Park Model. We camped here in a. We stayed here one cold night. Kids and wife enjoyed playing pool and the Christmas decorations were an added enjoyment. The bad: Very close to I-10 and somewhat loud. I somewhat thought this might be the case prior to reserving. Park sites were a little tight but suitable for our needs. The good: Free excellant wireless internet access! Cable TV 50amp service. The lighting in the park is very nice. A convenient store is not on site but a gas station with milk ice and beverages are at campground entrance. (Walking distance) I would camp here again but would try and locate away from I-10 if interstate noise is a problem for you. Fortunately our camper blocked most of it once closed up and inside. Was very cold that night. We have camped in a lot worse places and several better ones. The electronic conveniences and grounds keeping will keep us coming back. We camped here in a Motorhome. Hi. This place is great!!! I could not say enough about it: it is very very clean nice shaded camp spots. 80 channels of cable clean and nice new washers and dryers in a clean well lighted laundry room open 24 hours a very clean clubhouse open 24 hours with coke machines and snack machines a huge pool table has nice clean showers and bathrooms with plenty of room games and magazines of all sorts to use the park has just the right amount of lighting at night "not to much or to little "just right" has 2 ponds with benches that you can sit and watch the large goldfish swim has a nice large fenced in area that you can turn your dog a loose and let her run on the side of the park. The people that run the camp ground are some of the sweetest people you will ever meet; they will go over and beyond to make sure your stay there is one that you will remember as great. Clean and very quite park; I heard nothing at night except the crickets. This is a place that if I need to go there again. I will be looking forward to the stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Passport America and Good Sam Park. Under new family ownership and management since October 2004. As noted in above review park is close to I-10 but surprisingly there wasn't much noise. We slept with windows open and had no problem sleeping. The newer sites are long and level but narrower than older grassy sites. (around 20 feet wide). Enough room for slides and awnings but close. All sites have cement pads cable wi-fi and 50 amp free. Very clean well maintained and friendly owners. We will return We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Some of the nicest employees we have ever encountered. Park is being expanded with 40 or so new very very long pull-throughs and concrete patios. Will be very nice when they finish. Would highly recommend this place. They go out of their wayto make you at home and to meet your needs. We camped here in a Motorhome. The owners were helpful and friendly. The owner said a new playground a new pool andmany new improvements would be coming in the Summer of 2004. I recommend this park highly. It was clean and spacious and I would stay again at thiscampground. We camped here in a Motorhome. I use your review in finding campgrounds all over and decided to check this campgroundout. I found the management and staff to be very friendly and helpful. They were pet friendly and their sites are easy to get in and leave. They have someone who cooks meals a few nights a week and we tried it and the food was excellent for a $4.00 donation. Well worth the price for a great home cooked meal. We were told that the park is going through some major changes and look forward to coming again to see the changes and pool. Worth the stop! We camped here in a Motorhome. This park could be a nice place with different management and staff. The owners are RV'ersbut absent most of the time it seems (never present on either of our visits). They have made great stides in expanding the park soon to be well over 100 sites with a nice clubhouse and WiFi throughout the park but there are two sets of rules in the park. One for long term residents and one for everyone else. Dogs of long term residents including management are allowed to run free throughout the park without even the hint of supervision let alone someone to clean up after them but if a "pile" of droppings is spotted on your site you will hear about it even if you don't have a pet! Twice dogs from other sites jumped into our coach when we opened the door and we had to chase them back out and neither time was an owner in sight. They have meals served in the clubhouse 3-4 nights per week an arrangment they call Judy's Diner whereby you can purchase a meal for a $4-5 "donation". They use the word donation to get around health codes regarding resteraunts etc to which they would be liable if they charged a fee for the food. Children are allowed but not really welcomed as the managers like to "gossip" about the poor behavior of the kids in the park and seem to blame every evil that occurs imagined or otherwise on them and we don't even travel with kids but I feel sorry for any that do visiting this park. Finally if you have a park that has expanded and allows tents pop-ups and other units that are not self-contained you need more then 2 toilet/shower combos in the park. There seemed to be quite a wait to even use a toilet in the morning with others in the shower at the same times. We have returned once to the park and hoped it had improved but we will not again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is more of a correction than a review. Based on the review that was submitted above ,my wife and I decided to spend Thanksgiving weekend here. When we arrived we took one look at the place and left! This would be an ok stop over if you wereheaded somwhere else. You could literally throw a rock and hit a semi as it was going by on I-10! People need to be honest with their reviews. The one above sounds like it was written by the campground owners. We camped here in a Motorhome. We literally stumbled across this campground on the internet while shopping for a winter snowbird retreat. Oaks 'N' Pines is located at the intersection of I-10 and 441 in Lake City. Florida. It is only about a year or two old. The owners are as nice as they come and they aim to please. During the winter months there are cook-outs every Saturday night. Chicken and ribs are supplied and you bring a covered dish and utensils. There is a recreation hall for games pool table. TV puzzles and just about anything else you could want to keep one occupied. There are trees shrubs roses etc everywhere and there is a definite sense of pride and accomplishment when you talk to the owners and the employees about the campground and their plans for the future. Outdoor activities include: horseshoes shuffleboard walkin trails etc. The atmosphere reflects the attitude of the owners and employees that of friendliness and the feeling of satisfaction. Try them and I know you will be pleased. We camped here in a camper. First we arrived at the park after an all day rain and the entry road and serious lack of CG signs ( they said that "someone" stole them ) made it a trip through mud-ville. It is away from grocery stores,(civilization ) the sites were soggy and water logged and we only were offered 30 amp and water and a view of nothing. The owners/staff tried to be accommodating but there is no way our 40' 5thwheel could fit/enjoy the space they offered us. The campers that were there appeared to be long term "homesteaders". The only reason we considered it was because it was a Passport America park but it's not worth even the PA price. If you try and find the park with a GPS forget it. The GPS recognizes Old Wire Road by a different name. We would not return and in fact only stayed long enough to turn around and leave. They have a long way to go before they meet even minimum cg standards. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a brand new (since August 2006) family owned park. They are still in the process of building shower/restroom facilities and adding more spaces to the park. It is very clean and quiet. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable of the area and surrounding attractions. Rates are more than reasonable and although we are not pet people this is a very pet friendly park but not to excess for people like us who don't like to be awakened to barking or stepping in poo while walking the nature trails around the park. Located down a dirt road (rather bumpy in places) you feel as though your spending the night in the woods very peaceful. Highly recommended will definately visit again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. A quiet and off-the-beaten-track campground. Since the last review they have a free wi-fi connection. The owners were pleasant and helpful and the half price Passport America fee (for 3 nights in the winter season)was hard to beat. They are new owners and have plans for a pool and game room in the future. We would recommend it if you like peace and quiet but not far from the interstate. We camped here in a Motorhome.

""Fort Desoto Campground" in Tierra Verde, Florida - was rated: 7" posted by ~Ray

This was our first visit to this park. We liked it very much and ordain return. I agree with others about the low hanging trees.. this needs a little attention. Also the shell rock that was used to adjoin the dirt floor at our site and most others we saw needs to be added to. At our site there was almost none left so you were in dirt only. The park was quiet during the week and packed full of families over the weekend. Park did quiet down at the 10:00 PM curfew time. Very friendly staff clean bathrooms. Great place to come to if you like to fish. Bugs were minimal breeze was good. We brought a small boat and used it daily to travel to nearby beaches and collect shells and go fishing with our daughter. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Just returned from our fourth visit to this park. It is a great park. It does not have sewer hook ups and the clean accommodate could use some bring home the bacon. Also. I have noticed that the roads could use some tree trimming. You definitely have to be careful going in and because they have not trimmed the trees getting into some of the sites can be quite difficult and could be much easier with some removal of bushes or trees. The sites differ greatly as far as size and go of getting in and out and you might want to call if you have a large unit. The views from some of the sites are spectacular and the bike trails are great. There are two fishing piers but they are about 2 miles from the campground the beaches are very nice but again are between two and three miles from the campground. The price at the campground keeps going up and they need to take some of the money and devote it to clearing the roads and maintenance. Pets are only allowed in one section. There is wifi but only at the office. With a little effort this place could be a 9. Oh by the way be aware that there is an ant problem and you need to bring some spray. Bug spray is also a plus in the summer. We camped here in a Motorhome. This campground is awesome. The people are very friendly and the sites are perfect. Lots of vegetation around sites. You can actually go online and take a look at the site before you alter a reservation. The only drawback is that you undergo to make sure that you check for cancellations on and around thursday evening or friday morning as this is the only way you will get a site. This is a very popular campground to the area. This is a great family gathering campground. You are going to like it. You also have a trail to get to the beach!! The facilities are easy to get to and very clean. We camped here in a Motorhome. County Park – water and electricity and close to $40 a day now for an rv (last year it was 25 – big jump). Florida has so many taxes on tourists the tourist development tax sale and county. Three loops in the campground – one for vans tents and popups one for rv’s and others with pets and one for rv’s etc. All the reviews have been alter on about this campground – it is beautiful and the sites are private with a lot of shade. Ours was facing west over the gulf so the sunsets were beautiful with a nice breeze coming off water. There are bike trails a fort and one of the best beaches in the country to walk ride or control to. The bathrooms could be more updated but they are ok and the showers are hot. Easy checkin and the campground is very quiet at night and change surface during the day. We went in May during the week for three nights so were able to get reservations for a place and there were many other sites available but they did have posted that they are booked every weekend through July. I know it’s very hard to get reservations here from January through April and I can see why. Everyone we met complained about how hard it is to get a site during those months. If you schedule though they do not give out refunds if you have to cancel but you have a year to remake reservations. It worked out well for us because we canceled last year and stayed this year at last years price and that was close to almost $15 a day difference. They do have laundry facilities a camp store playgrounds cast aside station and a campers dayroom. Would love to come back but if only we could get reservations! There is a raccoon problem here from late in the afternoon through the evening and you can not leave any food out and even your coolers. The squirrels are brazen too one tried to sit in my husbands chair and connect me eating peanuts outside. I had to go inside the camper to get rid of him. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is my third move to this campground. We really love the location and views from the waterfront sites. The place we had this measure was really difficult to get my 35 foot motor home in. If the campsite across the road had not been empty I might not have made it. They really need to trim some tress and remove some that are right along the road. I would check with the office before booking a site if you undergo a large rig (we were on site 95). The campground does have wi-fi,but only with in 65 feet of the office. So you have to go up there to get on the internet. There are great places to ride a ride here. We rode for over 6 miles. Wide paved paths. The beaches and piers are not too far from the campground and you can boat and fish at the campground itself just no swimming. The biggest negative to this park is the restrooms. They were built probably in the 60's and are showing their age. The tile is cracked and it is difficult to keep the floors clean. There is no A/C and the showers are open at the top. There is a roof but from the top of the walls to the high roof is open. Probably helps with heat but allows all sorts of bugs in the restrooms. The cater is very nice and helpful. If they would trim some trees and update the bathhouses they would have a top rate campground. We camped here in a Motorhome. I had a good time at this park. The sites are spaced far apart and you feel secluded. The fellow campers and Park Rangers were very nice. The restrooms were clean but outdated. They undergo no ac and they appeared to be built in the seventy's. There was rust on the surprise grates. If the bathrooms were updated I would give this park a 9! We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. Enjoyed a 2 week stay in February. Grounds were exceptionally well maintained and facilities were clean. Had a pull through site which was convenient. Wi-Fi was being installed just before we left - only disappointment was that Pinellas County IT people didn't appoint enough IP Addresses so was unable to cerebrate. Campground highly recommended. We camped here in a Motorhome. What a spot!!! Many waterfront sites where one has easy find to open a kayak or a canoe. The campground is very close to the land (a ride ride away). Other amenities i e shopping library.. are a distance away but truly this place is a GEM. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Great Park after leaving the measure park in Tampa where way too many dogs were we appreciated the no pet area we were in. They do have 1/2 the park for pet owners to stay in which was nice for us. We camped alter on the beach in a very tropical looking site. Spaces are large but access to each site is very tight for larger units requiring several people to watch as you back in your site. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is my back up trip to this park and I still love it. The sites can be a little tight for rigs over 35 feet and there are some low hanging channelise branches that you undergo to watch out for. Our site. 95 was a tight fit but once in we had a great water believe just no room to put out the awning but there was plenty of shade and the weather was great. There is a small store at the campground but the prices are high as are their bike rentals. The campground is about 2 miles from the beach. A great bike ride but the nicest beach is perhaps 5 miles from the campground. There are two fishing piers and it is a great place to go bikes and plenty of small boat find. If you have a big rig. I'd call and talk to them about a site. I saw a guy who could not get in his site and had to be moved. He was lucky there were sites available. This displace is very popular and you usually need to reserve well in advance. We camped here in a Motorhome. We were very disappointed that we were not warned of the low branches in the pet friendly section of the park! We trusted that the staff would have warned us that our 35' desire and 13'2" high rig would fit. It was impossible to maneuver into the first assigned site (#92). We made it into place #85 after scraping a tree branch the size of a trunk causing $7,000+ worth of damage on our month-old fifth wheel's roof. The rubber roof was torn in four places and the frame was bent. Had the staff warned us or had our reservation for three days not been paid in advance. (and was non-refundable -- only transferable to another date within a year) we would not have attempted it. We camped here in a Fifth go around. We go here at least a couple of times a year. We enjoy it and its close to home. We are not crazy about their reservation system. There a a lot of raccoons and they are pretty aggressive so don't leave anything out. Clean and well kept sites can be hard to approve into due to tree overhang. Price has went up recently so almost $40 with tax. For a county park it is a little pricey. We will camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. A great county park. Some problems getting reservations. Some problems with small sugar ants in the campsites. Some problems with rowdyness in the campsites after dark. Local police have to guard it due to lack of proper supervision by the campground rangers. Very few pull through sites and lots of overhanging branches on oak trees so be very careful of your overhead clearance. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. We had an excellent site but it did take some manuevering to get in but once in it was big and you can't beat the view. Right on the wet kids fishing from the site. Relaxing easy drive to the beach. Bathhouses were very clean. My husband grew up coming to this campground and our family enjoyed it just as much! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Stayed on site 134 and had lots of space. Would recommend pulling in rather than backing in to full advantage of water view. Very nice park great for bike riding with miles of paved paths. Beach is not within walking distance but there is ample parking and it is beautiful. Our place had 30amp function but the park ranger said the non-pet friendly sites have been upgraded to 50amp service and that the pet friendly sites should be upgraded in the next year. We definitely intend to visit again just wish they had sewer hook ups! We camped here in a Motorhome. First of all. I do not give any campground a 10 that does not have sewer hook-ups. So 9 was the best this campground could get. It would undergo gotten a 9 if the rest rooms had been as clean when we arrived as they were when we left. They cater cleaned them while we were there. They are not the best create by mental act in that the walls do not go to the ceiling and there are a lot of critters in Florida! One of the showers did not have hot wet. So no 9. Otherwise this is a very nice campground. There is a special section for campers with pets and the sites are very nice. Lots of shade and bushes etc between sites. Our site backed up to the wet and we could look for right at the back of the site. The roads are a bit tight but we managed just fine in a motorhome. Roads in the campground are not paved but pretty come up taken care of. The campground is about a mile from the main part of the park. There are great bike trails that go everywhere and even places to rent bikes and boats. There are two fishing piers and miles of nice beach-- just hard to get to from the campground. Might be a bad selection if you do not have a car and want to hit the land but otherwise a very nice campground. We camped here in a Motorhome. We had a pet so we could only be in a specific area. There was a lake (pond) that was kept up mowed etc. but the RV sites were all grown over with weeds and our site was on the water but crummy back water. Even if you'd want to go to the water you had to walk through weeds and mud to get to it. We were really disappointed as some people had told us it was nice there. I'll never go there again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Our second stay at Ft. Desoto and it is an excellent park. Some sites are huge and most conclude isolated due to dense rub between sites. Water pressure was good despite FL drought. Kids had great time at beach and in the park. Make sure you keep food inside at night. Many raccoons and they are not shy. Book early because weekends alter up fast (people alter reservations and then don't use them). I had to get in line at 4:30 AM to ensure I got a pass "go up" site. After June 1 you can't get into line before 6:00 AM for walk up. Overall one of the best parks around and the only decent one in the St. Petersburg. FL area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We had place #226 which was a tight fit. Could not put our awning out but after the go gusts (from 10-20) we were glad we didn't try. Bathhouses have washer/dryers sites have only a stand up grill and a picnic table. No ground fires unless you use a container. There is a camp store with very basic items a museum pier beautiful beaches ferry to Egmont Key nature trails rentals for kayaks canoes windsurfing a nice bicycle path with jitneys to rent ride ramp (can keep boat in water at your place if on water)Pet playground(come beach) and kids playgrounds in camping areas. Anything you want to do for recreation can be had here. We were camping with our large assort and used a displace thru place for our meal which was plenty big enough. The PT's all dogleg strangely and most have trees that lean into them. Choose site very carefully because measure year when we camped here we had to replace our entire 5th go around roof because of trees that bend into the road (beware area 2 place #151 come bathhouse) The rangers know about these trees but do not cut them at all. NRP This was our first outing with our new motorhome and we enjoyed the park. We camped here in a Motorhome. An excellent park especially for the rate. We had a pull-through site (#173) which had hibiscus plants that provided a nice check from the neighboring sites. In 30 seconds you could walk to the western edge of the camping area for a sunset view across the backwaters area. Note it is not on the ocean (do a explore air believe) but various beaches are just a ride ride (10 minutes) or car trip (2 minutes) away. A real treat was seeing the sunrise from the land closest to the Sunshine Skyway. The beaches in the park were clean with great shelling. Make sure you undergo some outside help pulling a big rig into the pull-throughs as some of the trees grow in at an angle and might brush your rig. Definitely a place we will go back to - hard to reserve in advance as locals undergo a one month continue start. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a beautiful park. The only mention I would alter is that some of the sites are very difficult to back into because of overhanging trees. We think our place. #91 was the worst; avoid it if you can. I had 4 populate giving me directions and we made it in with no damage but it was exhausting! The rate given above includes taxes and ReserveAmerica fees We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Although this is a beautiful park the stay was spoiled as a prove of channelise residue falling on top of our motor domiciliate. The cover and awnings were completely stained after a 14 day stay even though we swept the roof at least 4 times while we were there. They don't allow you to process your instruct so we were stuck with a stained mess that forced an 8 hour project and still we're left with stains. We would certainly believe camping there again but limit to a site not under be oaks. It seems there are very few of those. You could not keep the site clean of tree residue to the extent you couldn't even cook outside unless there was a cover on the food while cooking. The staff was friendly and all other aspects of the stay was great. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to get Direct TV even under the trees. We camped here in a Motorhome. A beautiful campground. The only real problem is that some of the sites are very tight to get into due to all the closely-spaced trees and the change access road. Be very careful and check out for the many large overhanging limbs. Bigger units may want to avoid the sites numbered below about 105 due to a lack of space for backing and maneuvering in that area. The sites themselves are mostly good-sized once you get into them. There are a few long pull through sites. We camped here in a Fifth go around. Quiet alter well-maintained campground. Area 1 has some sites on the water (a bay not the gulf) and they can be open and windy; Area 2 sites in general have more vegetation and shade -- and privacy. Restrooms clean spacious and nicely-designed and each has a laundry. North land is 4 miles distant. Paved bike paths total 10 miles if you do round trips; there isn't much hiking except on paved bike paths. Nearest grocery hold on is several miles distant on 19; the campground store has the basics but no refrigerated food. The fort is worth a half-hour visit max. We camped here in a Motorhome. Beautifully kept County Park one of top 10 beaches lovely big sites. Unfortunately only one area is "dog access" so you are restricted as to what campsites you can stay in with a pet. Some of the branches are pretty low we tore a roof vent off just driving down the road and almost tore the a/c off backing into the campsite. Lots of mosquitoes. But the views and the relaxing atmosphere more than make up for it. Tried to reserve online when we got home for a return trip but the "dog access" sites were not available. Would like to go back soon it's beautiful one of the nicest campgrounds I've ever stayed in. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We camped here during the hot August season. It is an excellent campground lots of dwell privacy between campsites and very clean. We had an ocean front campsite on the north end. It was beautiful lots of touch trees and lovely sunsets. The only downside was that the insects were very bad. I am sure that it was the season for them. If you like camping near or on the ocean this is the place. The beach in the park is one of the best around. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. Fort De Soto was one of the most beautiful campgrounds we have stayed at and is about a 5 minute drive to the beautiful North Beach. Sites are sandy very large and very private with your own private view of the water. You cannot swim in that area because of deep holes. We saw a great deal of wildlife - including racoons. The racoons really weren't a problem however you did need to look out for them if you were walking around after dark. There were also quite a few cats. They are currently having a problem with ants. There are two washrooms and dryers outside of the restrooms ($1.00 per wash/.75 for one dryer cycle). hold on is not well stocked and it is a long drive to a decent sized grocery hold on. Campfires are not allowed object in an approved enclosure - they recommend a steel tub like you would wash a small dog in - it was to be enclosed on the bottom and on all sides. We had no problems manouevering our 25 ft TT in and out of our site (#218). We stayed here for 4 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We will defintely go to this campground if we are in Florida again. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. This is a great park. The sites are aim and easily deep enough for our 30 ft class A (although not overly wide) but fairly thick trees all around provide nice privacy. The utilities are about half way back in the site and we needed a few feet of our 10 ft water extension since we had backed up as far into the site as we could. Many people pulled in forward for a really great view. The piers and the remants of the fort were interesting to see and the east beach area had a really good view of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Tarpon Springs was a nice day trip. All of the beaches had an amazing variety of shells and sea life visible. We liked watching the big boats and tugs going by. We had place #215 and loved it. The bay is just a few feet behind the RV; we saw beautiful sunsets. Two separate dump stations have easy access. Bathrooms and showers were alter with good hot wet. Each bathhouse also had one open air washer and dryer. This seems to be a very work well run park and after seeing it I'm not surprised at how popular it is even though it's a bit expensive. If we ever get anywhere come this area again we will go. There are two toll points on the way into the park ($1 and $.55 for four axles) and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge was $2. We camped here in a Motorhome. We really enjoyed this campground and we sure weren't the only ones. Everybody we spoke with loves this displace and returns year after year. Because stays are limited to 2 weeks there is no seasonal community but there certainly are loyal regulars. The modem located in the campground office is excruciatingly slow. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome. Excellent experience would visit again for sure. Only thing preventing a 10 is no sewer hookups excellent sites a little tight to get into but once you are in it is great all facilities are clean and in good working request. Bike paths are excellent! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. First measure at this displace and we loved it. We ordain definitely go back. Large level sites. We had a waterfront place. You can launch a kayak from your own place or look for there. We were in the pet loop. I saw no raccoons only a few squirrels here and there. The beach is a 2 mile bike ride away. Doggie park and doggie land available also. Tour the Fort while there. We ordain definitely go back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We camped here for the first time after hearing great reviews about this park. They were right. It is a great park with beautiful views. Many bike trails and easy find to the beach. The sites are large. We had a waterfront place and had lots of room the sites are very level. Very nice informative rangers. The only downside is you have to pay a toll every time you leave the cg to get approve in but it is only $0.35. We had heard they had a raccoon problem but we only saw 1 while we were there. We will definitely return to this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Love the island setting in Tampa Bay. Shelling was even possible on the beach come the Ft. Yes Raccoons abound but they didn't bother anyone's hose. We put a plastic lay of wet out just to be sure. Sites can be very odd with branches in the worst places. But the setting is so pleasant. Highly recommend you view site before committing to pay. Heard dish the dirt that internet reservations may be coming this year. No heat in clean houses brrrr in Jan. Wash/Dry.75/.50 We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a beautiful state park right on the Gulf of Mexico. We stayed in Sept of 2003 andpractically had the park to ourselves. There are kayak rentals available and small camp store. The beaches are right drink the street and of cover don't drop the assemble itself. This is real gem! We camped here in a dwell Trailer. This is a county run campground. It has many low limbs and some sections are for tenters only because of the inability of RVs to maneuver around the trees. Unfortunately they let the tenters go where they want so many times the sections for tenters only is alter but there is no vacancy for RV's because tenters have filled the only sections RVs can fit into. Also you have to pay in cash reservations have to be made in person only up to a month in advance. Right now they are having a problem with raccoons. They are all over the place and I love these creatures but they grate through all your hoses etc at your campsite. We camped here in a camper.

This was our first visit to this park. We liked it very much and will return. I agree with others about the low hanging trees.. this needs a little attention. Also the shell move back and forth that was used to cover the dirt surprise at our site and most others we saw needs to be added to. At our site there was almost none left so you were in dirt only. The park was quiet during the week and packed full of families over the weekend. lay did quiet down at the 10:00 PM curfew time. Very friendly staff clean bathrooms. Great place to come to if you like to fish. Bugs were minimal breeze was good. We brought a small ride and used it daily to travel to nearby beaches and collect shells and go fishing with our daughter. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Just returned from our fourth visit to this park. It is a great park. It does not have sewer hook ups and the clean accommodate could use some work. Also. I undergo noticed that the roads could use some tree trimming. You definitely have to be careful going in and because they undergo not trimmed the trees getting into some of the sites can be quite difficult and could be much easier with some removal of bushes or trees. The sites vary greatly as far as size and ease of getting in and out and you might want to label if you have a large unit. Oh by the way be aware that there is an ant problem and you need to carry some disperse. Bug spray is also a plus in the summer. We camped here in a Motorhome. This campground is awesome. The people are very friendly and the sites are perfect. Lots of vegetation around sites. You can actually go online and take a be at the site before you make a reservation. The only drawback is that you have to alter sure that you check for cancellations on and around thursday evening or friday morning as this is the only way you will get a site. This is a very popular campground to the area. This is a great family gathering campground. You are going to love it. You also have a dawdle to get to the beach!! The facilities are easy to get to and very clean. We camped here in a Motorhome. County Park – wet and electricity and close to $40 a day now for an rv (last year it was 25 – big jump). Florida has so many taxes on tourists the tourist development tax sale and county. Three loops in the campground – one for vans tents and popups one for rv’s and others with pets and one for rv’s etc. All the reviews have been right on about this campground – it is beautiful and the sites are private with a lot of shade. Ours was facing west over the gulf so the sunsets were beautiful with a nice breeze coming off wet. There are bike trails a fort and one of the beat beaches in the country to go ride or drive to. The bathrooms could be more updated but they are ok and the showers are hot. Easy checkin and the campground is very quiet at night and even during the day. We went in May during the week for three nights so were able to get reservations for a site and there were many other sites available but they did have posted that they are booked every weekend through July. Bathhouses undergo washer/dryers sites have only a stand up cook and a picnic table. No ground fires unless you use a container. There is a camp store with very basic items a museum pier beautiful beaches ferry to Egmont Key nature trails rentals for kayaks canoes windsurfing a nice bicycle path with jitneys to rent boat ramp (can keep boat in water at your site if on water)Pet playground(near beach) and kids playgrounds in camping areas. Anything you be to do for recreation can be had here. We were camping with our large group and used a displace thru site for our meal which was plenty big enough. The PT's all dogleg strangely and most have trees that lean into them. decide site very carefully because last year when we camped here we had to replace our entire 5th wheel roof because of trees that lean into the road (beware area 2 place #151 near bathhouse) The rangers know about these trees but do not trim them at all. NRP This was our first outing with our new motorhome and we enjoyed the park. We camped here in a Motorhome. An excellent park especially for the rate. We had a pull-through place (#173) which had hibiscus plants that provided a nice screen from the neighboring sites. In 30 seconds you could walk to the western edge of the camping area for a sunset view across the backwaters area. say it is not on the ocean (do a Google air believe) but various beaches are just a bike ride (10 minutes) or car trip (2 minutes) away. A real treat was seeing the sunrise from the beach closest to the Sunshine Skyway. The beaches in the park were alter with great shelling. Make sure you have some outside help pulling a big rig into the pull-throughs as some of the trees grow in at an go and might brush your rig. Definitely a displace we ordain go back to - hard to reserve in go as locals have a one month head start. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a beautiful park. The only comment I would make is that some of the sites are very difficult to back into because of overhanging trees. We think our place. #91 was the worst; avoid it if you can. I had 4 people giving me directions and we made it in with no damage but it was exhausting! The rate given above includes taxes and ReserveAmerica fees We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Although this is a beautiful park the stay was spoiled as a result of tree residue falling on top of our go home. The cover and awnings were completely stained after a 14 day stay even though we swept the cover at least 4 times while we were there. They don't allow you to wash your coach so we were stuck with a stained eat that forced an 8 hour project and still we're left with stains. We would certainly consider camping there again but limit to a site not under live oaks. It seems there are very few of those. You could not keep the site clean of tree residue to the extent you couldn't even cook outside unless there was a cover on the food while cooking. The staff was friendly and all other aspects of the stay was great. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to get enjoin TV even under the trees. We camped here in a Motorhome. A beautiful campground. The only real problem is that some of the sites are very tight to get into due to all the closely-spaced trees and the narrow access road. Be very careful and watch out for the many large overhanging limbs. Bigger units may want to avoid the sites numbered below about 105 due to a lack of space for backing and maneuvering in that area. The sites themselves are mostly good-sized once you get into them. There are a few desire pull through sites. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Quiet clean well-maintained campground. Area 1 has some sites on the water (a bay not the gulf) and they can be open and windy; Area 2 sites in general have more vegetation and shade -- and privacy. Restrooms clean spacious and nicely-designed and each has a laundry. North beach is 4 miles distant. Paved bike paths total 10 miles if you do round trips; there isn't much hiking except on paved bike paths. Nearest grocery store is several miles distant on 19; the campground store has the basics but no refrigerated food. The assemble is worth a half-hour tour max. But the views and the relaxing atmosphere more than alter up for it. Tried to reserve online when we got home for a return trip but the "dog access" sites were not available. Would desire to go back soon it's beautiful one of the nicest campgrounds I've ever stayed in. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We camped here during the hot August toughen. It is an excellent campground lots of dwell privacy between campsites and very clean. We had an ocean lie campsite on the north end. It was beautiful lots of palm trees and lovely sunsets. The only downside was that the insects were very bad. I am sure that it was the season for them. If you like camping near or on the ocean this is the place. The beach in the park is one of the best around. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. assemble De Soto was one of the most beautiful campgrounds we have stayed at and is about a 5 minute control to the beautiful North Beach. Campfires are not allowed object in an approved enclosure - they recommend a steel tub like you would process a small dog in - it was to be enclosed on the bottom and on all sides. We had no problems manouevering our 25 ft TT in and out of our place (#218). We stayed here for 4 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We ordain defintely go to this campground if we are in Florida again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is a great park. The sites are aim and easily deep enough for our 30 ft categorise A (although not overly wide) but fairly thick trees all around provide nice privacy. The utilities are about half way back in the place and we needed a few feet of our 10 ft water extension since we had backed up as far into the place as we could. Many populate pulled in forward for a really great view. The piers and the remants of the fort were interesting to see and the east beach area had a really good view of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Tarpon Springs was a nice day move. All of the beaches had an amazing variety of shells and sea life visible. We liked watching the big boats and tugs going by. We had site #215 and loved it. The bay is just a few feet behind the RV; we saw beautiful sunsets. Two separate dump stations have easy access. Bathrooms and showers were clean with good hot water. Each bathhouse also had one change state air washer and dryer. This seems to be a very busy well run park and after seeing it I'm not surprised at how popular it is even though it's a bit expensive. If we ever get anywhere near this area again we will go. There are two toll points on the way into the park ($1 and $.55 for four axles) and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge was $2. We camped here in a Motorhome. We really enjoyed this campground and we sure weren't the only ones. Everybody we spoke with loves this place and returns year after year. Because stays are limited to 2 weeks there is no seasonal community but there certainly are loyal regulars. The modem located in the campground office is excruciatingly slow. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome. Excellent experience would visit again for sure. Only thing preventing a 10 is no sewer hookups excellent sites a little tight to get into but once you are in it is great all facilities are clean and in good working order. Bike paths are excellent! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. First measure at this displace and we loved it. We will definitely go approve. Large level sites. We had a waterfront place. You can launch a kayak from your own site or fish there. We were in the pet circle. I saw no raccoons only a few squirrels here and there. The beach is a 2 mile bike ride away. Doggie park and doggie land available also. Tour the Fort while there. We ordain definitely go approve. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We camped here for the first time after hearing great reviews about this park. They were right. It is a great park with beautiful views. Many bike trails and easy access to the beach. The sites are large. We had a waterfront site and had lots of room the sites are very level. Very nice informative rangers. The only downside is you have to pay a toll every time you leave the cg to get back in but it is only $0.35. We had heard they had a raccoon problem but we only saw 1 while we were there. We ordain definitely go to this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Love the island setting in Tampa Bay. Shelling was even possible on the beach near the Ft. Yes Raccoons abound but they didn't bother anyone's hose. We put a plastic lay of wet out just to be sure. Sites can be very odd with branches in the worst places. But the setting is so pleasant. Highly recommend you view site before committing to pay. Heard rumor that internet reservations may be coming this year. No alter in bath houses brrrr in Jan. process/Dry.75/.50 We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a beautiful state park right on the Gulf of Mexico. We stayed in Sept of 2003 andpractically had the park to ourselves. There are kayak rentals available and small dwell store. The beaches are right drink the street and of course don't forget the fort itself. This is real gem! We camped here in a Tent Trailer. This is a county run campground. It has many low limbs and some sections are for tenters only because of the inability of RVs to maneuver around the trees. Unfortunately they let the tenters go where they want so many times the sections for tenters only is empty but there is no vacancy for RV's because tenters undergo filled the only sections RVs can fit into. Also you have to pay in cash reservations have to be made in person only up to a month in advance. Right now they are having a problem with raccoons. They are all over the place and I love these creatures but they chew through all your hoses etc at your campsite. We camped here in a camper.

This was our first visit to this park. We liked it very much and will return. I agree with others about the low hanging trees.. this needs a little attention. Also the shell move back and forth that was used to cover the dirt floor at our site and most others we saw needs to be added to. At our place there was almost none left so you were in dirt only. The park was quiet during the week and packed beat of families over the weekend. Park did quiet down at the 10:00 PM curfew measure. It does not have sewer hook ups and the bath accommodate could use some bring home the bacon. Also. I have noticed that the roads could use some channelise trimming. You definitely have to be careful going in and because they have not trimmed the trees getting into some of the sites can be quite difficult and could be much easier with some removal of bushes or trees. The sites vary greatly as far as size and ease of getting in and out and you might want to call if you have a large unit. The views from some of the sites are spectacular and the ride trails are great. There are two fishing piers but they are about 2 miles from the campground the beaches are very nice but again are between two and three miles from the campground. The price at the campground keeps going up and they be to take some of the money and devote it to clearing the roads and maintenance. Pets are only allowed in one section. There is wifi but only at the office. With a little effort this displace could be a 9. The only drawback is that you have to make sure that you check for cancellations on and around thursday evening or friday morning as this is the only way you ordain get a site. This is a very popular campground to the area. This is a great family gathering campground. You are going to love it. You also have a trail to get to the land!! All the reviews have been right on about this campground – it is beautiful and the sites are private with a lot of darken. Ours was facing west over the gulf so the sunsets were beautiful with a nice breeze coming off water. There are bike trails a fort and one of the best beaches in the country to walk ride or drive to. The bathrooms could be more updated but they are ok and the showers are hot. Easy checkin and the campground is very quiet at night and even during the day. We went in May during the week for three nights so were able to get reservations for a site and there were many other sites available but they did have posted that they are booked every weekend through July. I know it’s very hard to get reservations here from January through April and I can see why. Everyone we met complained about how hard it is to get a site during those months. If you book though they do not give out refunds if you have to cancel but you have a year to remake reservations. It worked out well for us because we canceled last year and stayed this year at last years price and that was close to almost $15 a day difference. They do have laundry facilities a camp store playgrounds dump station and a campers dayroom. Would like to come back but if only we could get reservations! There is a raccoon problem here from late in the afternoon through the evening and you can not get any food out and change surface your coolers. The squirrels are brazen too one tried to sit in my husbands chair and join me eating peanuts outside. I had to go inside the camper to get rid of him. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is my third trip to this campground. We really like the location and views from the waterfront sites. The site we had this time was really difficult to get my 35 foot motor home in. If the campsite across the road had not been empty I might not undergo made it. They really need to cut some tress and remove some that are right along the road. I would check with the office before booking a site if you have a large rig (we were on site 95). The campground does have wi-fi,but only with in 65 feet of the office. So you have to go up there to get on the internet. There are great places to ride a bike here. There is a cover but from the top of the walls to the high roof is open. Probably helps with alter but allows all sorts of bugs in the restrooms. The staff is very nice and helpful. If they would trim some trees and update the bathhouses they would have a top rate campground. We camped here in a Motorhome. I had a good measure at this park. The sites are spaced far apart and you feel secluded. The fellow campers and Park Rangers were very nice. The restrooms were clean but outdated. They have no ac and they appeared to be built in the seventy's. There was crumble on the floor grates. If the bathrooms were updated I would give this park a 9! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Enjoyed a 2 week stay in February. Grounds were exceptionally well maintained and facilities were clean. Had a displace through site which was convenient. Wi-Fi was being installed just before we left - only disappointment was that Pinellas County IT people didn't appoint enough IP Addresses so was unable to cerebrate. Campground highly recommended. We camped here in a Motorhome. What a spot!!! Many waterfront sites where one has easy access to launch a kayak or a boat. The campground is very close to the land (a bike ride away). Other amenities i e shopping library.. are a distance away but truly this place is a GEM. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Great Park after leaving the last park in Tampa where way too many dogs were we appreciated the no pet area we were in. They do have 1/2 the park for pet owners to stay in which was nice for us. We camped right on the land in a very tropical looking site. Spaces are large but access to each site is very tight for larger units requiring several people to check as you back in your site. Will be here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is my second trip to this park and I still love it. The sites can be a little tight for rigs over 35 feet and there are some low hanging tree branches that you have to watch out for. Our place. 95 was a tight fit but once in we had a great water believe just no room to put out the awning but there was plenty of shade and the defy was great. There is a small store at the campground but the prices are high as are their bike rentals. The campground is about 2 miles from the beach. A great bike ride but the nicest land is perhaps 5 miles from the campground. There are two fishing piers and it is a great displace to ride bikes and plenty of small boat access. If you have a big rig. I'd call and talk to them about a site. I saw a guy who could not get in his site and had to be moved. He was lucky there were sites available. This place is very popular and you usually need to reserve well in advance. We camped here in a Motorhome. We were very disappointed that we were not warned of the low branches in the pet friendly section of the park! We trusted that the staff would undergo warned us that our 35' long and 13'2" high rig would fit. It was impossible to command into the first assigned site (#92). We made it into site #85 after scraping a channelise branch the coat of a trunk causing $7,000+ worth of damage on our month-old fifth wheel's roof. The rubber cover was torn in four places and the frame was bent. Had the staff warned us or had our reservation for three days not been paid in advance. (and was non-refundable -- only transferable to another date within a year) we would not have attempted it. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We go here at least a couple of times a year. We enjoy it and its close to domiciliate. We are not crazy about their reservation system. There a a lot of raccoons and they are pretty aggressive so don't get anything out. Local police have to patrol it due to lack of proper supervision by the campground rangers. Very few pull through sites and lots of overhanging branches on oak trees so be very careful of your overhead clearance. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. We had an excellent site but it did take some manuevering to get in but once in it was big and you can't beat the view. Right on the water kids fishing from the site. Relaxing easy drive to the beach. Bathhouses were very clean. My husband grew up coming to this campground and our family enjoyed it just as much! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Stayed on site 134 and had lots of lay. Would recommend pulling in rather than backing in to full advantage of wet view. Very nice park great for bike riding with miles of paved paths. Beach is not within walking distance but there is ample parking and it is beautiful. Our site had 30amp service but the park ranger said the non-pet friendly sites have been upgraded to 50amp service and that the pet friendly sites should be upgraded in the next year. We definitely plan to visit again just wish they had sewer hook ups! We camped here in a Motorhome. First of all. I do not furnish any campground a 10 that does not have sewer hook-ups. So 9 was the best this campground could get. It would undergo gotten a 9 if the rest rooms had been as clean when we arrived as they were when we left. They power cleaned them while we were there. They are not the best design in that the walls do not go to the ceiling and there are a lot of critters in Florida! One of the showers did not have hot wet. So no 9. Otherwise this is a very nice campground. There is a special section for campers with pets and the sites are very nice. Lots of shade and bushes etc between sites. Our site backed up to the water and we could look for right at the approve of the place. The roads are a bit tight but we managed just fine in a motorhome. Roads in the campground are not paved but pretty well taken care of. The campground is about a mile from the main part of the park. There are great ride trails that go everywhere and even places to contract bikes and boats. There are two fishing piers and miles of nice beach-- just hard to get to from the campground. Might be a bad selection if you do not undergo a car and want to hit the beach but otherwise a very nice campground. We camped here in a Motorhome. We had a pet so we could only stay in a specific area. There was a lake (pond) that was kept up mowed etc. but the RV sites were all grown over with weeds and our site was on the wet but crummy back water. Even if you'd want to go to the water you had to walk through weeds and mud to get to it. We were really disappointed as some people had told us it was nice there. I'll never go there again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Our second stay at Ft. Desoto and it is an excellent park. Some sites are huge and most feel isolated due to dense brush between sites. wet compel was good despite FL drought. Kids had great measure at beach and in the park. Make sure you act food inside at night. Many raccoons and they are not shy. Book early because weekends fill up fast (people alter reservations and then don't use them). I had to get in line at 4:30 AM to ensure I got a pass "walk up" site. After June 1 you can't get into line before 6:00 AM for walk up. Overall one of the beat parks around and the only decent one in the St. Petersburg. FL area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We had place #226 which was a tight fit. Could not put our awning out but after the wind gusts (from 10-20) we were glad we didn't try. Bathhouses undergo washer/dryers sites have only a stand up cook and a eat table. No ground fires unless you use a container. There is a camp store with very basic items a museum pier beautiful beaches bring to Egmont Key nature trails rentals for kayaks canoes windsurfing a nice bicycle path with jitneys to contract boat ramp (can keep ride in water at your place if on water)Pet playground(near land) and kids playgrounds in camping areas. Highly recommend you view site before committing to pay. Heard rumor that internet reservations may be coming this year. No heat in clean houses brrrr in Jan. Wash/Dry.75/.50 We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a beautiful state park alter on the Gulf of Mexico. We stayed in Sept of 2003 andpractically had the park to ourselves. There are kayak rentals available and small dwell store. The beaches are alter down the street and of cover don't forget the fort itself. This is real gem! We camped here in a dwell Trailer. This is a county run campground. It has many low limbs and some sections are for tenters only because of the inability of RVs to maneuver around the trees. They are all over the place and I like these creatures but they chew through all your hoses etc at your campsite. We camped here in a camper.

""Black Bear Campground" in Florida, New York - was rated: 4" posted by ~Ray

We all must have gotten the same unlevel site next to that ancient Pace Arrow! Sewer was leaking somewhere out approve but the WiFi WAS working and despite the pouring rain it was an OK overnight stay. I can't imagine driving a 40'+ MR up that forge and around the curves. Tip: Diesel Pushers - pull in your awning over the door prior to heading down the hill - I tore mine off here - my first MR accident. We camped here in a Motorhome. The web site makes this be like its wonderful. In reality it is on top of a almost mountain like forge or continue. There is a hard switchback on the way up to the camp sites that could be hard for big rigs. We made it with the 29 foot travel trailer but it is tight. They ask the motor homes with a "Toad" to unhook before you go up. The swimming pool is not on the same level with the campground and is a little far to go to. They prohibit ride riding up or drink the hill too steep. So can not ride your ride to the pool. We selected this CG based on their New York City tours. We never did get on a tour even though we stayed for five days. So if that is your plan alter reservations come up in advance. Their attitude about helping us was "too bad". Many extended stay folks in seemingly alter campers. The one next to us seemed abandoned. Heavily overgrown with grass and piles of wood covered with ratty tarps. telecommunicate TV didn't work at all and WiFi was out move of the time. Showers were reasonably clean. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. The park is on a steep hill. They try to sell the journey aggressively. It is a good journey and convenient.. So if you are looking for a journey it is a good bet. The tour guy is nice. But it is obvious the campground gets a commission because they sell it hard. Their sites are not level. And when I went to tell them about it all they did is make fun of me asking why I couldn't get my rig leveled. They said "the sites are level we put a aim to it". I didn't know what to say??? The sites at OUT OF LEVEL by at least THREE FEET. What kind of level are they using? I don't mind an unlevel site but don't alter fun of your guests! We will NOT return for that reason. They pressure you to increase your be "Well. we undergo this nice place if you were willing to stay an extra night or two we could alter it happen". OK. I took the bait and that "nice site" was not level either! I could NOT get my rig leveled and looking around the park it was a common theme. There is a center and sharp move on the park but if you can alter it this far to Florida. NY then you probably will alter the sharp turn. Their electricity had a LOW VOLTAGE condition. They blamed it on the electric company. They must think I am stupid ?? There is 118V when I put no load and once i try to get a fill there is 95V. If it was the electric affiliate it would be 95V to begin with. They wont accept responsibility. Instead they are building the park adding more sites and everything is done in a shoddy matter. These guys need to step back and act their blinders off and look at themselves. We camped here in a Motorhome. This park advertises its proximity to New York and offers van tours to NYC leaving from the park. That's probably it's best feature. The park is situated on the side of a hill requiring you to alter a steep arise and navigate a sharp curve to get to the camp sites. And of course the laundry facilities are at the bottom of the forge in the office! Uneven gravel sites and there were problems with low voltage on the days we were there. WiFi reception was excellent however. There are many long term residents living in rundown trailers or coaches. Would not be my first choice if we return to this area. We camped here in a Motorhome. This park was chosen because of it's location near a train displace with good connections to NYC. There are a large be of long call guests and some of the trailers and rigs looked desire derelicts. Not very inviting! The grass in our campsite was long and needed to be mowed. Over all a disappointment specially considering the price. We stayed here pre-payed for five nights with a no refund policy if you check out early. We told the lie office the first morning that we open trash in the fire pit at our place and that it needed to be mowed. And again on the third day. When we left on the 5th day it was the same. This RV park would not be our choice again. It's a shame because with some work this could be a really nice park... We camped here in a Motorhome. Location location location. We visit family in New York City and this is the closest park not counting the one in Jersey City. NJ where you can only stay two weeks. We have stayed here twice for two months at a measure. The cater is very helpful and friendly. Sites are only adequate they need more back up with the mowing and weed removal. Very quiet and on a hill with good views in the winter and early move. wet compel is an issue as come up so keep your water tank full in case you be to supplement. We will be back again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This was a differ nice campground quiet and restful. The staff was top notch and had all the local information you could every want. The WiFi Internet was the best I used all toughen. The sites were large and level and the road were set up one way and were in good condition. We have recommended this park to friends and they loved it as well we will go approve. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Road to the upper sites was tricky with a Big Rig but possible. You must unhook at the office. lay needs lots of work. Office staff pleasant but either we were overcharged for a back-in or the price was outrageous for this park. There are not many parks in this area and the control to West Point was 45 minutes. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is an old campground not well maintained. Only reason for staying here was proximity to satellite repair people. Lots of seasonals; some look like they've been here forever. Free WiFi but reception in our area not strong. (We needed it until our satellite fixed.) Only a few sites with southern sky exposure for air. Kind of kooky old owners but they tried to be accommodating. They promote their facility as being close to New York City and tours directly from campground are available. But if reason for coming is to see the City we preferred Croton inform lay in Croton-on-Hudson with Metro North instruct station alter outside park (where we stayed in August). We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We have camped at Black Bear numerous times and yes there use to be old junkie campers and old bathrooms but I wish to say that they undergo new people caring for the dwell and it is very clean and organized. New bathrooms and showers and very come up maintained the grounds are in great shape well groomed. Pool area very clean. Roads in good cause. Management very helpful. And they do have tours to NYC. The only thing they lack here is activities. All in all it is a good clean park. We camped here in a Motorhome. I agree with most of the comments of other reviewers the place is messy facilities not well maintained etc. However we stop here whenever we are in the area because it is the beat domiciliate locate for visiting NYC (which we like to do). It takes about an hour or so to arrive the city on a NJT commuter instruct located about 15 minutes from the campground. The office has a flyer telling how to do this. The other campgrounds in the area (Newburgh KOA. Yogi feature Gardiner) are at least 30-40 minutes farther out from the City. We camped here in a Fifth go around. This park was neither great nor terrible as the rating reflects. The roads to the sites were unusually center and we chose not to use the dump site because of this. The sites were spacious but the grounds were not particularly well tended. We did not go to the swimming pool. The showers were trailer-type construction and were alter one time but not the back up. Quiet. Free Wi-Fi and cable were reliable. Location is convenient to despatch 17 but quite a way from NYC. Owners were cordial and helpful but a little pressured for their tour (which we did not take) and extra days. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. The beat WiFi around. It worked come up in all parts of the campground and was never drink. The staff were friendly and helpful. lay is just a short drive to the train displace for function to New York City. There is a large woods within the campground that is great for walking a dog. Many small towns around that are worth a tour. The only reason for a less than excellent rating were the presence of a few "permanent" campers that were in poor condition. We would be here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

""Manatee Hammock Park" in Titusville, Florida - was rated: 9" posted by ~Ray

This campground is a good place to stay to see the Space go Launch. The cater were friendly and helpful. The WiFi was located at the office/rec dwell and was not accessible from most RV sites. The park is located in a very densely tree covered area and was fairly hard to maneuver a larger RV in. I would probably not stay here again do to the gloomy trees. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We camped here to go to the Shuttle launch and Cape Canaveral. It was fine. The pool was not very warm but the laundry worked great. Everybody was friendly and the park was kept up nicely. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We had learned from other forums this was a good if not the best. RV Park from which to watch a go launch. I had also read reviews reflecting low overhead clearance of low hanging tree limbs had caused alter to the roofs of several RVs. On Sat.. Dec 1st I read in the paper that a shuttle launch had been scheduled for Thurs. Dec 6th. I called the park and asked if there were any available sites. I gave the weekend manager the size and height of my rig and was told spaces were going fast and that there might not be one available large enough for our rig. She told me she would call me back before then end of the afternoon with any say. That afternoon I received a call and was informed a site large enough for my rig had been found. This park has a heavy cover of palms oaks. “water” oaks pines elms and other trees. After checking in. I walked in lie of the rig to ensure we weren’t going to hit any low hanging limbs. The exterior height of my rig is 12’ 09” and there were NO limbs on the main roads that would cause us any concern. I walked the park many times (dogs will do that to you) and observed no sites large enough to fit us (36’ 5er) with any threatening limbs. Seems as if the management has favorably responded to earlier complaints and trimmed accordingly. We expected the park to be full but discovered it at between 70% and 80% RV capacity. All extension requests were granted (launch kept getting postponed). We open this to be an exceptional park. Sites were spacious and occupants friendly and helpful. The location is unbeatable as is the $24 nightly tariff (Jetty Park almost 17 miles south is $40 per night. not sure if they charge extra for daily parking). The sites are not paved but it isn’t difficult to level your rig. You ordain need “patio” rugs to cut down on the leaves and dirt entering your rig. Although I’m.

This is not an rv park. Its mostly permanent sites. You are parked between houses. Very tight. Not dog friendly at all. Some roads are for pets & you can walk them only on that road. They are not allowed on other roads. If you go to a site that allows the pet you have to carry it or go in a car so the dog isn't on roads its not speculate to be on. ordain never be here again to dwell! We camped here in a Motorhome. First of all-- I am not sure why this is called a "resort". It is a campground right off Hwy 19. That aside it is a book place to be. The sites were mostly grass or smooth but pretty level. Had nice wifi and it was free. Cable TV is extra. The campground is within walking distance of several nice places to eat and a WalMart. Nice place to stay if you are on the way to someplace but certainly not a destination type place. New owners are trying hard to please. We camped here in a Motorhome. Since new Managers took over it has changed for the better since last year when we were there. The pool is now heated. WiFi is working great new share table in the recreational hall sites have been cleaned up and reservations have improved. The bathrooms and showers are much cleaner now and they have many activities during the winter season. The new managers are very polite and friendly and just ask that you follow the park rules which is for everyone's safety. I would definitely go there again. Suncoast RV Resort in Port Richey. Florida has really changed for the better and many more changes are going to happen for the new toughen. This is what the new managers undergo told us. We can't act to get back there next season. You should analyse it out. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Sites are small-Some only 15 feet wide. Lots of trees to work around. I have seen motorhomes hit the trees. Pool is a problem due to back up not being able to keep it clean. Lots of "no see ums"-they bite. Small park but friendly campers. WIFI sucks. We camped here in a Motorhome. First the good things. The location is great. There are at least 10 restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Walmart and a huge indoor mall are 5 minutes go away. There are lots of trees and most sites offer shade. The park is very dog friendly with lots of walking areas. The share heater is fixed. There are organized activities everyday. The determine by the month is a bargain compared to other parks in the ares. Now the bad. The no-seeums are awful and the new owners don't disperse. The wi-fi is improving but decrease. While the large pull-through sites are fine many of the rest are very small and those shade trees make it hard to use them. The roads are change. This combination of narrow roads and trees makes for many dents. The new owner is keeping deposits until you checkout and then issuing a check. This means he has your fasten for the whole time you are here instead of deducting it from your monthly rental. This has caused many complaints. A Canadian bring together who left in Feb complained because they don't deal with a U. S bank and had trouble cashing the check. The owner told them "That's the cost you undergo to pay for being Canadian and coming here." Don't camp near the approve. When it rains the whole area is always flooded. The washrooms are satisfactory but not spotless desire they have been in previous years. Don't bring home the bacon here after 4 o'clock or on a Sunday the office is closed and there is no one around to help you out. We have camped here for several years now and have always enjoyed it but because of the new owner and his policies we won't be approve. We camped here in a Motorhome. Sites were very tight. Roads were narrow. It was change intensity and quite peaceful during my be. The no-see-ums are terrible between 4:00 and 8:00. I did not have any real issues but the management did boot out a camper for posting a review on another camping site while I was there. I felt that this was completely uncalled for. I did not use any facil
