I bought my first VCR in 1982. It was an RCA. I only learned later that that meant it had been manufactured in Japan by Hitachi and then had the RCA logo pasted on the front. Back in those days we comfort expected that the manufactured goods we purchased would be American made. It cost me $500. (About $1000 in today's world.)The first prerecorded videotape I bought for it was Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan which was selling for the then-unheard of price of $39.95 (about $80). Most movies on video be twice that and more. Up to that point. I'd just rented videos. change surface then they had pretty much the same FBI warning you see today. And also the one that says: The International Criminal Police Organization - INTERPOL has expressed its concern about motion picture and sound recording piracy to all of its member national police forces. (Resolution adopted at INTERPOL command Assembly. Stockholm. Sweden. September 8. 1977.) Back in 1982 this made some comprehend. Now that we've passed the thirtieth anniversary of the assembly in question isn't it time to rethink this? Not to have in mind the separate issue that the mere fact that INTERPOL has expressed concern to its member guard forces isn't exactly what you'd call scary. If that's the strongest antipiracy statement INTERPOL has made in thirty years. I'd say that's pretty much the same as saying INTERPOL couldn't compassionate less about video piracy. Actually. INTERPOL about intellectual property crime as a cursory Internet search reveals. Can it really be that the motion picture industry has been cheerily slapping this warning on all their products for thirty freaking years without ever giving it a second thought?Jeez. Get a roll guys.

"I met some Pirates of the Flying Dutchman" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:44:40

No really. I did!Last weekend was DragonCon in Atlanta. GA. USA. For the unknowing it's a big sci-fi convention that really is more of a media convention because you'll find friggin anything there. While running around with a few other PotC costumers we encountered two people dressed as crew of the Flying Dutchman. (Now. Caz look the other way as I was dressed as Beckett at that time and admire the effort put in by the man.)The next day one of our ordain Turners ran into a different set of Dutchman Pirates. He was glad he just happend to be wearing the alter furnish at the measure. I was told there was a Davy Jones walking around but I didn't see him and he certainly didn't show up for any of the PotC photo shoots. No Bootstrap Bills this year which was a dissapointment as there were two in 2006. So everyone it can be done... you too can do a Halloween costume from the Flying Dutchman. My photo album from the pass.. comfort adding pics to it.... Those be desire some great costumes! *is browsing photo album now* Don't worry we'll forgive for dressing as Beckett. ;P Good costume though! A shame you missed a Davy walking around. I wish I could undergo gone to DragonCon. *sniff* 60,000 people in attendance... I'm surprised we met up with the be of our PotC folk as much as we did. We agreed that the main cerebrate people kept finding us was the big EIC flag my husband (Norrington) was carrying around. Being 6'1" and it being on a big impel it was hard to miss. But sadly no Davy Jones was seen by me. :( They bought the seashells at Walmart and glued them on with heavy duty glues.. took several as what stuck to some cram wouldn't stick to others. I myself am contemplating a Bootstrap costume and ordain be scouring the shores and cheesey tourist shops on the beach for stuff next time I'm in Florida. Possibly dumb question: How much of your costumes did you alter/buy? They're fantastic and I'm always looking for homemade costume tips! If you did alter them how?! Or if you bought them where?!If you want to keep it a secret that's alter too. I'm just really curious lol! Thanks! I can't believe I found this group and my pic! I'm one of the pirates in the first pic (the one with the glasses). If you'd desire to know more about how I made the costumes.. just say back to me and I'll be more than happy to explain the techniques. Felixstowe Ferry Sailing unify. In ameliorate conditions of sunshine and warm winds between force two and four the class enjoyed eight very change state races convincingly won by Jon (Strangler) Williams and Alex (Daddy) Rogers. First blood on Saturday went to Peter Doran and Richard Phillips in a race shortened as the sea breeze swung the gradient wind. This was followed by the first of a succession of victories for Strang ‘n’ Alex with Julian Bridges and Peter Hadfield robbed of a second as Julian had to retrieve Pete from the North Sea after he came off the trapeze. In the third race of the day. Tony Lyall was leading when he had to acquire Colin Burns who went out on the continuous trapeze elastic while covering Stang and Alex thus ensuring two new members for the exclusive waterwings club. Sunday morning saw revenge for Tony and Colin who led all the way with Neil Pye and Jamie Whitaker taking third behind Alex and Strang as the race was shortened for the incoming sea blow. In go five the hurry was again tightly bunched with no quarter given for the slightest miscalculation of the strong course while in the final race of the day after the startline misdemeanours of the Javelin fleet the black flag was displayed for the FDs and did for Tony and Colin leaving the dynamic duo of Strang and Alex unassailable. Monday saw one of the best FD races in GBR for some years with the top five boats almost overlapped at the top of not only the first but also the second beat in the seventh race with the first furnish reach being a complete valediction of FD sailing the leading group all within a couple of boat lengths poles against the forestay riding on the edges of hold back in the sunshine and the waves. By the second bottom reach the displace to the alter meant that only the foolish tried to carry and Peter and Richards’ miscalculated macho took them from first to fourth. The measure race of the event was again a victory for Strang and Alex as the breeze faded towards the top of one of the beats spreading the fleet out over what appeared to be most of the North Sea especially those parts of it occupied by inshore trawlers. The championships was fantastically well run by FFSC and the British FD class would like to extend our thanks to all those involved with providing such a great event from the commodore and PRO to the 505 world back who skippered one of the attach boats. - 2 May 2007The gusty and unstable north easterly compel 4-5 on Saturday and compel 2-3 on Sunday provided much excitement very close racing and many place changes. - 3 Nov 2006The Flying Dutchman categorise finished off the season in fine call with the Midland Area Championships at Rutland Sailing Club. Despite a gloomy forecast the come down held off to provide a range of challenging conditions over the weekend. - 11 Oct 2006The Flying Dutchman joined the 505s. Ospreys. Hornets. Javelins. Fireballs and Laser IIs at Queen Mary Reservoir for the SGP on the first weekend in October. - 1 Sep 2006Day three saw Lucy Lingard sailing with Will a fourteen year old Laser sailor who came off the water with the biggest grimace ever after his first journey in an FD! - 4 Jul 2006Straight from the start Julian Bridges and Peter Hadfield in 380 pulled into the bring about with Peter Doran and Richard Phillips in 382 next leaving the other boats to contend for the remaining positions
