"MMPC for Chinook" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-19 12:21:58

Even before the N810 is shipped. I’m able to to announce for the new Chinook 4.0 (OS2008) release. Untested in real production environments of course but I see no reason why it shouldn’t work outside my ARM development environment. Packages are (including libmpd). Please report any issues you might encounter. Now I’m eagerly awaiting the availability of the in Germany to finally get rid of my discount code. Thanks Nokia! On a related note: I’m still looking for designers creating some nice. “Play”. “Stop”. “Pause”. “Backward” and “Forward” buttons. These are just too ugly in the current state. Nobody willing to help out? This entry was postedon Wednesday. November 14th. 2007 at 14:04and is filed under. . You can follow any responses to this entry through the feed. You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed. We would like to help you with the buttons. If you like you can use then with no restrictions at all of course. Do you have the exactly sizes etc that you want? also : do you need buttons : in one image only or left - middle (tile-ready) - right format? Note that the URL above is not showing any developers this means that none of you will get your deserved karma points. Still missing an entry at though for your OS2008 compativble version. User report here - I had mpd/gmpc working successfully if I recall correctly on both OS2007 and OS2008. I’d flashed back to bora but decided to give living under the latest.19 release of chinook a try. For some reason audio produced by mpd now sounds - “picket fence” is the best description no matter what the tablet (an N800) is doing. ps yes mpd is running on the tablet as well. I’ve used mpd for a couple of years on my desktop system and quite frankly prefer the simplicity of mpd/mmpc on the tablet when on the go. The other popular players have too much flash and not enough actual usability. Please ignore my prior comment regarding the ‘picket fence’ sound output of mpd; it would appear that a rogue version of libao2 is the culprit. I cleaned and uninstalled mpd and libao2 and used a version from the maemo Hakers (sp?) repo and all is well. "telepathy and chinook" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-02 02:24:28

hi! I'm trying to understand if it's possible to add some telepathy connection managers to chinook. I've started with telepathy-idle (irc give). 1 - download and compiled fine in SDK_ARMEL 2 - copy all to n800 with OS2008 (is there a way to evaluate in the sdk?) - bin file manager file function register 3 - copy the profile file from empathy-common package. Now my first problem. it seems that account creation in maemo is handled by the "accounts" framework (libaccounts osso-accounts-plugin-*). Problems: - be creation dialog doesn't see my new irc connection manager - i can't create a osso-accounts-plugin-irc as there's no (devel) packages on sdk.. - i'v tried to add manually a account to gconf but i don't see it anywhere on n800 gui... so. is it really possible right now to add a connection manager to chinook? If i'm doing something do by can someone point me to documentation? (maemo org is very slow today so i'm not able to look for it..) btw i don't want to see replies like "nokia sucks because foo package is proprietary" or similar. thanks! ciao Luca _______________________________________________ maemo-developers mailing list maemo-developers[at]maemo.org

"Maemo Chinook SDK Final Released" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-16 01:14:23

I've just construe in the site news The final Chinook SDK has been what means the N810 device is shopping in the next weeks. I haven't noticed it in the moment I received the email about the. Great news!!! I have already downloaded and installed the rootstraps which can be found. Personally. I prefer a manual installation so it's just a matter of creating and setting up new targets downloading the and rootstraps run a couple of simple apt-get commands and you're done. We already have the new version of running on Chinook. It is unbelievable how beautiful and delightful the new UI feels thanks to our create by mental act team which has been doing an excellent job. I can say it brings a totally new concept and you'll certainly enjoy it *A LOT*. We'll carry other hot news about Canola really soon!Meanwhile. I back up everybody to try to learn how to develop applications using the specially and.

"Chinook Ogg Support" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-02 00:28:14

One of the in the user community is the Internet Tablet’s give for Ogg files. While this is not something I’ve been personally looking for. I’m still quite happy to share that is now just a move away! For the time being you can use to get your OGG on… Share and Enjoy:These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can overlap and discover new web pages. I assumed you meant ‘now’ just a click away rather than ‘not’ just a click away but then the linked summon says “This package does not enable the built-in player to play oggs.” so… maybe you did convey ‘not’ just a move away. This has existed for quite some measure but it comfort doesn’t give Ogg in the built-in media player. That can work too but it takes some hacking on obscure text files related to the media player.

Hi. I'm trying to create verbally a desktop applet in chinook but it seems it changed from previous versions the link to the howto in the Maemo 4.0 Tutorial is broken: The requested URL /development/documentation/how-tos/4-x/writing_hildon_desktop_plug-ins_for_maemo html could not be open on this server. Any ideas? Thank you very much. _______________________________________________ maemo-developers mailing list maemo-developers[at]maemo.org > Hi. > > I'm trying to write a desktop applet in chinook but it seems it > changed from previous versions the cerebrate to the howto in the Maemo 4.0 > Tutorial is broken: > > The requested URL > /development/documentation/how-tos/4-x/writing_hildon_desktop_plug-ins_for_maemo html > could not be found on this server. > > Any ideas? The new plugin infrastructure in hildon-desktop allows for legacy plugins to be loaded. This said you're probably better working with the new API. It's nicer in my opinion. The documentation doesn't seem to exist but there are examples in the SVN. I don't experience if they're working examples but it's worth a try :) Have fun. "Boeing promotes growth version of Chinook helicopter" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 17:12:57

is pushing forward to open a growth version of the 49-year-old CH-47 Chinook airframe in fiscal year 2010 despite a non-committal stance from the US Army. The company is seeking to win the army's support to build a new airframe powerful enough to haul a 12-13t payload for 400km (215nm) says Jack Dougherty. H-47 create by mental act manager who adds: "That's something we can grow a into." Boeing's current Chinook models undergo the ability to lift a load of that size but only for a very small distance says Dougherty. One notional concept for the proposed growth configuration would strengthen but perhaps not greatly enlarge the H-47's airframe. The current aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 25,400kg (56,000lb) but the army limits this to 22,700kg to decrease its maintenance charge. Boeing would declare to fill this extra payload capability with fuel and alter the airframe sturdier allowing the helicopter to carry its maximum payload on a 400km despatch. The new design also may demand a more powerful engine. Dougherty says. Boeing's options include a growth version of the Honeywell T55-714 or a version of the 6,000shp (4,480kW) Rolls-Royce T406. Alternatively. Boeing could change magnitude the Chinook's growth weight to 27,200kg with a 660mm (26in) plug inserted into the airframe. Dougherty says. Should the army ask for a 31,700kg airframe. Boeing would undergo to adopt an all-new wider airframe for the Chinook as come up as upgrade its propulsion system and drive instruct. Dougherty says Boeing's plan is to gain support for the growth model in the army's next six-year spending plan which starts in FY2010. The company believes it can launch the growth version within the same budget line as the army's procurement account for the current CH-47F. This strategy may offer Boeing the advantage of launching a new airframe without facing a competitive threat from Sikorsky which may be prepared to offer the CH-53K in development for the US Marine Corps. The army is currently focused on supporting the sign fielding of the CH-47F ( ) which achieved the "first unit equipped milestone" with 12 helicopters on 14 August. "We just fielded this [model] and we're not looking for another one yet," says Col William Crosby the function's incoming deputy programme executive officer for aviation. Crosby adds that the army has no requirement for a growth version of the Chinook but says the function "would love to have it" if the funding were available. Boeing views the growth Chinook as a separate initiative to the army's existing Joint Heavy Lift requirement for a 25-30t lift capability.

"Chinook look?n'feel" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 19:17:39

The Chinook desktop with Plankton furnish looks quite ok. It has some transparency as you can see from the desktop screenshot. It seems to work decently although is has some minor and some major issues. They are probably solvable but at least didn’t bring home the bacon out of the box for me. For upgrading your application to match the Chinook’s APIs it’s shelter enough imo. Although I’m not sure which new APIs the Chinook alpha SDK includes in addition to the new Hildon Desktop. The Navigator application menu has a new big be. I’m sure some populate ordain like it and some dislike it as usual. The menu behaviour seems a bit odd like it remembers my last lay in the menu when I open it but is buggy. Some of the old apps work some not. I could get check shots with my check grabber. I could compete OGGs with kilikali but although evince started up it just jammed there. Mirage didn’t even start. And I couldn’t find register Manager from anywhere. Opera works OK when started from the application menu but the Hildon Desktop crashes when I try to change state the Browser menu from Navigator. The most important app osso-xterm luckily works :) Power saving on the other transfer does not. Or at least for some cerebrate the battery didn’t measure even for a day when it lasts easily several days on the latest official release. I might undergo had the usbnet running though which can affect the situation.

"CU to transform program with Chinook" posted by ~Ray

For 17 years the Chinook Clubhouse and CU have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship. The Chinook Clubhouse works to provide employment opportunities for those afflicted with mental illness and since its creation has been referring temporary employees to CU. These temporary workers hired at the University Memorial Center undergo held jobs desire table busing cashiering and serving food. "The relationship has been mostly successful," UMC Director Carlos Garcia said. However the stabbing of freshamn student Michael Knorps has forced CU to reevaluate this relationship. Kenton Drew Astin. 39 and a former Chinook-referred temporary UMC employee was arrested Monday for allegedly attacking the student. In the past the UMC has not required a background check on these temporary workers. Previously councilors at Chinook were only responsible for alerting the university if one of the temporary employees had change state unstable or had terminated their medications. This ordain no longer be the inspect as CU will now act a more proactive role. Following CU-Chancellor G. P. "Chinook on mmc" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 17:29:19

I tried Sardine desire time ago on my n800 and didn’t get it running. Now is released and I decided to try again. I want to have a working n800 always with me so I put the Chinook on the second divide of external mmc (first one is comfort a normal vfat for OGGs etc). apt-get install wgetwget http://repository maemo org/pool/maemo3.2/free/binary/tar_1.14-2.1osso_armel debdpkg -x tar_1.14-2.1osso_armel deb /root/tarmkdir /mnt/dev-rootfs/mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 dev-rootfs/mount -t jffs2 /dev/mtdblock4 /mnt/rootfs//grow/tar/bin/tar cf - -C /mnt/rootfs/ . | /grow/tar/bin/tar xvf - -C /mnt/dev-rootfs/ I chrooted to new rootfs since upgrading a running rootfs would be next to impossible: I had to export osso-af-startup version 1.46-2 from svn hive away and install it manually because the version in Sardine repo had a dependency to non-existent osso-product-info package. It’s downloadable from. Then I upgraded to Sardine nicely with apt-get (dbus tried to lay /var/run directory conflicting with ssh..): apt-get updateapt-get lay hildon-application-frameworkapt-get upgradedpkg --force-overwrite -i /var/cache/apt/archives/dbus_1.0.2-0osso10_armel deb The current Sardine repo seems still to have the same issue with maemo-launcher (see ) that failed my first test with Sardine but this time it’s already fixed in svn. So I exported maemo-launcher version 0.23-1 from svn compiled and installed (downloadable from ). I installed the new missing dependencies with ” question and cancelled the phone wizard. I got an ugly desktop without theme. Selecting the Plankton theme fixed this issue. Now I have working Chinook with my WLAN APs configured and my extra apps installed still plays my OGGs without problems :)
