Overall this is a real nice place. We stayed here off season and were located waterfront on the sound side of the park. Fantastic views of Pamlico Sound which is a wide open body of water between the Cape and mainland with much kite boarding and windsurfing activity. This is one very windy place! We almost had the entire area to ourselves due to the time of year. It would be fairly close during busy season but as previously mentioned that is to be expected for the area. There are no wet view sites on the ocean align... but beach is just over the dunes. Real nice outdoor pool and ok indoor pool and hot tub. Wi-fi is very good as is cable tv. It was irritating to be charged an extra $3 a day for a dog AND an extra $3 daily for cable!!! My only other negative comment is the lack of security on the sound side of the campground. The beach side where the office is is restricted by a coded gate... but the sound side is wide open. There is golf cart security and it isn't exactly a high crime area but for the money i expect some better security. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We enjoyed our stay. Short walk to the land. We drove to a public vehicle access to drive on the land (2 miles away ??) Stayed in site 21 which was difficult to back in because the road begins to turn to the left and it's a one way street. When we left I went alter because of the sharp turn. Besides that we had a good time nice people great weather and no bugs. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Very nice campground. All paved roads with cover control ways and even a concrete patio. It cost a little extra to be right by the dune next to the ocean and they charged me for one of the kids over 12. They are almost adjacent to the Cape Hatteras KOA. We walked over close enough to get a be at the KOA. It looked very nice gravel roads and such just not nearly as polished as Camp Hatteras. If you show a KOA discount separate. Camp Hatteras ordain honor it. The reviews I read on this site seemed to indicate the KOA might have a few more kid amenities desire slides at their share and moon jumper. Camp Hatteras has a very nice share adjacent to the office. There were no trees at either campground. But again both are alter on the ocean. All in all Camp Hatteras is a great oceanfront campground and extremely neat since all the roads are paved and having concrete pads is great. It also is very green with grass everywhere. We camped here in a Motorhome. We camped here for 3 nights. Nice park has free internet pool laundry facilities and the beat is that you can go to the ocean beaches! Beautiful spacious concrete paded sites with some hit. 3 restroom/shower facilities which were very clean. I would definately stay here again. If I had to find a negative it would be that Hatteras is VERY expensive to find food! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Gorgeous campground. Flat concrete sites lovely people working the office. Dog friendly. Wi-fi. No trees blocking my satellite cater. Great midway location. Camping on the ocean or the appear where the sunsets are breathtaking. The only thing that I hated was all the "sticker paws" those nasty sand spurs that fasten into dogs' feet. I've stayed here before and will stay here again I wish. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is a wonderful campground. A constant breeze insures comfort inside or outside your rv. The campsites are spacious but a bit of a contend to navigate due to the layout of some of the roads. All roads are paved and every site has a level pad. The bathhouses are older but updated and very come up maintained. We were also impressed with the staff. All this and the Outer Banks as well. The entire family agreed that we ordain tour again even if we can't get in as Coast to glide members. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Been here many times. By far this is the nicest displace in the Outer Banks. On the south side below the National Seashore so nice and change intensity. Same thing for the people at the campground very laid back. Front desk personnel very nice and efficient. Gated. Sites very spacious by comparison around here. Dogs allowed here on land. And finally there's a lot of good activities during the season as well as locate amenities like a indoor share etc. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We stayed here in the Coast to Coast schedule. This is a fantastic park once you traverse the bridges to get here. It was so windy on our arrival day that we kept the slides closed to prevent the toppers from being torn off. For the next three days of our stay the winds were minimal and the sun was out. The ocean views are outstanding. The staff was friendly and the sites are very ample. We would recommend this park and will return again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Park was very nice especially the sound align. The downside is the location - 17 miles from the nearest grocery. We would not go there again due to the bridges and the lack of facilities in the area. Be aware the wind blows hard there most of the time and is not friendly to awnings or slide toppers. We camped here in a Motorhome. This camp resort is located on both sides of hwy 12. The major part of the campground is located on the ocean side. A small section is located on the sound side which is where we stay. I would recommend this area for those who desire a quiet stay with gorgeous sunsets (as sun sets over the Pamlico appear). The only amenities on this side consider an immaculate bathhouse and laundry. All sites are concrete back-ins with 50 amp service sewer water and telecommunicate. The premium sites back up to the sound and the views are quite stunning. There's a common gathering area with benches for sunset watching or like us just sit approve in your recliner and watch from your approve full view window. There seems to be minimal children in this area as come up. Of course to use the campgrounds many amenities you must cross hwy 12 to enter main part of campground. If the use of those amenities is not an issue for you the sound align is ideal! Sites are roomy and roads are all paved asphalt. We had no be to try Wi-Fi but now own a laptop so we'll try it out with our next visit. Even though prices are center we feel the expense is justified by the change intensity less crowded nicely maintained camp resort. Give it a try! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. As many have stated.. good place to stay. Many sites have sewer at very rear and fresh water near very front of site. We got group evaluate while parked here with a collect. Nice beach access. Windy of cover. Hot tub and inside pool nice and clean. Nothing too close to places such as grocery stores restaurants and fuel so have up on your way in. Wi-Fi iffy at beat. Many antennas but spotty performance at best. Sounds like an ongoing issue. Water compel OK but taste terrible. Lots of geese and seagulls with lots of poop so watch where you walk. I would come back again. Pricey for what you get but about the same as others in area. Staff friendly but always seem hurried and work. Several laundry's through out park with OK equipment. $1.50 washer and dryer. We camped here in a Motorhome. We camped using glide to Coast. We have not been here for nine years. cater is friendly and very helpful. All sites have pads. They are fairly change state together but you have room to back into your site. Bathrooms and showers are clean. You can walk to the Ocean or Bay. Wi-fi works most of the measure. Nice indoor heated pool. The only drawback is that it does get windy. It was off toughen and quiet. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed in a premium place next to the dunes at oceanfront. Sites are paved but are somewhat change state together. Campground offered remove WiFi service which we were able to access most of the measure at our campsite without problems. be rooms were old which is acceptable but were not as clean as they should be which is not acceptable for a campground with these prices. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a great campground. Since we were here in the off toughen it was $53 for any site in the campground. We only stayed here one night and moved to a less expensive campground for the next two days. What a identify! We will stay here again next year. We loved the beach access the wifi and the staff. The sites are wide and aim and cover. The area around the site is mostly sand but hey you are at the beach. We camped here in a Motorhome. Spent 2 days here to look around the OBX and just to chill from 2 days on the road. It was off-season so rates were only $53 for a premium site. This was the first week of the off-season so there were plenty of sites available. Management was cordial friendly and professional. We had a reception problem with our cable. A Techie/Security Guard was dispatched within minutes. He brought with him a TV and cable. Great thinking…we found we had a bad cable and were able to obtain a new one at the office. Other than being closer to the land we didn’t find any benefit in paying extra for a “premium” place. If we were to stay here again we would choose a non-premium grassed site. As has been mentioned by others there is no shortage of sandburs especially at the more sandy sites. This is a real PITA with dogs. The approach to our shower house was less than ideal very sandy meaning your going to end up with sandy dirty feet after your shower. Shower and toilet facilities were basic but clean. We didn’t use the pool so no mention there. This is a gated park. Expect to be strong continuous winds. If you are only going to be in the area for a bring together of days and can boondock consider staying at one of the nearby NPS campsites for $20 per night. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. This is a great park. We stayed here in '06 for five days and came back in '07 for a week. The kids activities were enjoyed by my children - tie dye shirts scavenger hunt ice cream social miniature golf. The showers facilities are some of the best I've seen. They are constantly cleaning them. The concert and watermelon at the pavilion was a nice way to end the weekend. I even enjoyed church at both the local bring together Haven Methodist Church and the AG church. This place is not inexpensive though but as you can see. I returned. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed 8 nights in a premier site that was across from the dunes and the land. You could here the surf inside our 5th Wheel even with the windows closed. It was a very nice clean well run campground We very much enjoyed our stay and would be here again. As for the price it was land front and this is what it took to get an RV site with that kind of access. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a great RV park but hardly worth the absurd $70.00 per night fee. To add bruise to injury they charge $3.00 additional for cable TV. Please isn't the already ridiculous high price enough? The WI-FI is free but only worked two or three times in the four days we were there. If you come to Waves. NC tour Ocean Waves Campground instead of this lay. We camped here in a Motorhome. We arrived to find courteous staff concrete pads / patios and a nice place within walking distance to the beach. The campground is pricey--could've found a better deal at Ocean Waves. The Wi-Fi was spotty at times. Spent 2 weeks here enjoyed our stay pretty crowded in July but settled down in early August. Would recommend for family type camping. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a great lay. Nice level concrete pads. Some sites just a very short walk across the dune to the ocean. It is windy all the time but this helps keep it comfortable in the pass heat. The OBX is always windy! There is smooth it is the beach after all and there are sand spurs. Some have commented about sand and wet in the bathhouses. We seldom use them but I feel they are quite clean given the locations so close to the ocean. Everyone who goes in there is covered in sand and wet. Anyone who has weathered a Hatteras storm can appreciate the amount of bring home the bacon it takes to keep structures such as these standing so close to the ocean! It is ocean front so facilities take a beating but the crew there is always working to keep it alter and fixed. Outdoor pool nice we have never thought it to be too cold. Indoor share gets a bit "icky" at times as it never sees the sun. WiFi is free but spotty availability always. I go every year and the WiFi has not worked well yet. The park is pricey but mostly worth it. It is the best on Hatteras Island. The value of the real estate it sits on just keeps going up and the property could produce more revenue as a condo apply so I am willing to pay up to act it operating as a campground. Clean well maintained oceanfront sites good staff. One of our favorite campgrounds. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We were disappointed with a few things regarding this campground especially at $90 a night. They advertise remove WiFi but we were only able to log on at our site (366 soundside) once in the 8 days we stayed. The office staff even said we were the first to charge that there was a problem. Funny thing was we talked to many people who had the same problem and also complained about it. The sand spurs were a big issue our site had hundreds of dried ones and it was impossible not to bring in them into the camper even though we swept the pad frequently. Going barefoot was out of the question. The outdoor pool was too cold to apply. On the positive side the bathrooms were big and clean and we saw great sunsets over the appear. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We stayed here for a week on vacation. On pulling into the park we open a gated appeal with a guard which was nice. The staff was friendly upon check-in and we stayed at a "premium" site which was the second row from the ocean. Ocean is across the sand dunes but was a short walk. Overall the campground was nice and much more spacious than the others in the area (although still a little small). Campground had concrete roads and pads and were very level. It wasn't very crowded when we were there which made it nice. They had a pool and bet room which the kids liked - although we spent most of our time on the land. Be prepared it is VERY windy on Hatteras. Average wind go is 20mph and we had days gusting to 40mph. There are no shade trees and I had to keep my awning in most of the measure (even with tie downs). We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Paid for a premiere ocean front site. These are truly the sites closest to the ocean. There is a very large smooth dune across from these sites that do not accept a view of the ocean. They are not far away though. The premiere sites were un-kept and looked very worn. These sites are a pretty tight fit. Other sites were less expensive and were in much nicer instruct. This was a nice place to spend time with your family but you will be suprised when you arrive and find out that the misc charges accrue rather fast. Our base rate was $72 per night. So there is an extra charge for many things. Please be sure to call ahead for these charges if possible. The wireless internet access is sporadic at best; be prepared to travel around the campground looking for a good connection. Some employees were nice others were not. Nice and change intensity at night and I had some quality time with my family. Overall. I would consider returning but I figured I would like to help any first timers traveling to there. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed with our C2C membership. Nice lay. Stay away from sites in the front lots of geese and their droppings in that area. Nice indoor and outdoor pool along with a hot tub. Walk over the dunes to the land. Their wifi is very spotty. We had to use the modem at the rec hall. Be prepared for windy weather. We were told that the wind never stops there. We got sand blasted every day at the beach. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is a beautiful campground. Every site is concrete a concrete patio. For being at the ocean the sites were piled that closely together. There aren't any sites that you can see the ocean from but there are sound view sites. The beach is clean and large and doesn't have lifeguards. I think the base rate for the campground is in the $60s but additional charges raise the rates. Cable TV was available for $3 a night. I would advise this campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We booked this campground based on reviews on here. We really enjoyed our be as it was our first time to the Outer Banks. We booked a premere site and were right at the ocean we only had to walk over the dunes to get to the land and that was about 50 feet or so. Nice lots and very clean; sites had cover pads and were aim making it nice for my husband. Only complaint I undergo is that when I booked over the telecommunicate with the campground. I was told that the $68.95 per night was the total charge for full hook up including cable. When we arrived we were charged an additional $8.00 PER DAY for EACH of our children - as well as an additional $3.00 per day for cable - with a Good Sam discount our rate ended up being $80.00 per night including tax. When I questioned the cater about the "childs fee". I was more than shocked to find out the $68.75 was for 2 people only yet they advertise it as a "family rate". We never did get an answer as to why they would charge an additional price per day for kids so this would be the only downfall. A "Family" to me is more than 2 people and if you already have the site with 2 people what difference does it alter if you have kids? That would be like a hotel charging for children to sleep in the bed. Makes no comprehend to us but this is their policy and we werent the only ones who voiced our concern. The populate booking in front of us had 8 children between them! At $8.00 a day per kid plus $64.94 for a non premere site that can get very pricey change surface with a Good Sam reject. I would be here again given the sites are wide and spaced well apart compared to other campgrounds in the area. The KOA down the street was crowded and the sites were so close together I dont know how they got in and out of their trailers. So compared to that. I'd take Camp Hatteras any day of the week. I guess the $80.00 per night is worth not having your dwell see and comprehend everything you're doing in your RV. It is the most expensive campgrounds in the area but again. I think its worth paying a little more for the sites (except for the $8.00 per kid charge). Activities were well planned out - they had dances bingo arts and crafts and pot luck dinners planned throughout the week. Nominal fees for the activities werent too bad. I'd come back here but would really like the campground to change the Family of 2 to a family of 4 and not rush for children. Just doesnt make sense... We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This was a great campground. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Security was thorough but not overbearing. All sites are paved with paved patios. We did not use the Wi-Fi so don't experience how come up it works. This campground is split by Hwy 12 with the largest move on the ocean align and about a third of the cg on the sound side. We stayed on the sound align in a premium place on the sound. Due to the reeds and foliage you cannot get to the water from there but it did provide a beautiful sunset each night and more of a spacious feeling since nothing is behind you but the sound. The bath houses were absolutely spotless.. maybe the cleanest and beat maintained I undergo ever seen. The share areas (indoor and outdoor) were very clean and very well maintained and the clubhouse was spacious and nice. There is a pavilion on the beach with parking there so you can haul all your chairs umbrellas etc up there in the toad if you be to. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby. Try the Top Dog drink the street for a good laid-back open-air kind of undergo. The grilled mahi tacos were great! The only down align is the overall cost. Base price was 69$ plus 6 bucks each for our adult kids - both over 21 years old - that came with us this move. telecommunicate is another $3 per night but we use the dish. All in all it looked desire the nicest RV park in the area and we would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a fun lay in a great area. The sites have plenty of room the roads are paved and you lay on concrete with a concrete patio. It is so nice to wake up and walk over the dune and watch a sunrise. And the sunsets on the Sound side are spectacular too. This place is every bit as laid back as the Florida Keys it's great. My only complaint.. they charge $3.00 per day for cable.. please... at their already high prices this is just nickel and dimeing the customer We camped here in a Motorhome. Spent our second 4th of July in a row here. Campground was beat but still very quiet and peaceful. Facilities were all in good shape. Had a couple of power outages due to VERY high use. Each time the situation was quickly resolved. A number of very strong storms came thru that dumped a lot of rain in a very short period of time. The result of which was a good bit of flooding. Not the cg's fault though. They did what they could to help the campers out that had the worst problems. The Staff here was always very friendly and helpful. Security was more visible this year too. Our only complaint was the number of people not picking up after their dogs. If I were the owner of this cg I'd seriously consider banning pets. We camped here in a Motorhome. We just returned from a week at Camp Hatteras and we had a wonderful time. The campground is ultra clean and the sites are large and paved. The pools/spa are great and the camp store is come up stocked. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restrooms are nice and clean as well. The location is centrally located on the Outer Banks which makes days trips to the North or South convenient. I highly recommend it! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is truly a campground that lives up to its billing. All sites have concrete pads and are well spaced for a private campground. Everything you could be or need is either there or nearby. And North Carolina's Outer Banks are one of natures most beautiful places. This displace is a little expensive but it might just be worth it. We ordain return in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Very nice campground well laid out sites with lots to do. 2 complaints to have in mind; not enough electricity to supply a beat campground on a very hot pass. Several A/C's would not run or stay running due to bespeak. The wireless internet reception was very poor. No reception at my place had to go to the clubhouse. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Lots to do at this park and the ocean is just over the dunes. Even had a snack bar with burgers shrimp platters etc right behind the land. No shade here at all. The wireless internet is convenient. Long drive to any restaurant that isn't a pizza bar or ice cream shop. cater was courteous too. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is only my 3rd campground experience but I offer the following comments: A) The check in was quick the folks were polite and we found our site with no trouble. A plus for sure. B) Site was a cover pad and required only a brush aside adjustment for level. C) The preserve heat wave did create a bit of a stink at the garbage containers. A slight minus we noticed only on the hottest day. D) Notices were posted on all sites that the camp wet had tested positive for bad stuff in the water supply. At least we were notified. E) Lots of electric scooters in use even though they were not allowed. F) Amazed how quiet the campground was after 10. Of course most folks were doing just what we were: a full day at the beach followed by a nice dinner and a few libations. That tends to settle ya' down early. Overall we had a great time. Will go back next year. We camped here in a Motorhome. We were here for the Fourth of July week. Had a great time! Crowded of course but the layout of the park gives you more dwell at your place than with most private parks. Outdoor and indoor pools new this year is a snack bar that offers breakfast and lunch. We've stayed at the KOA next door for the measure 3 years and we won't be going back. The concrete pads and paved roads make all the difference in the world for summer weather in the OBX. If the bath houses were air conditioned. I'd probably give this place a 10!!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Very nice facilities. The hookups worked come up and were in good condition. The campground was having trouble with their water system. We were given a copy of a letter from the state of NC about the poor quality of their water and that it should not be drunk without boiling it first. The compel was low too. We could see the cater working on the situation and performing tests but I don't evaluate they had the problem solved by the time we left. The interior roads and pads are all desire new. Cable has 99 channels and a good quality picture. We stayed on the Pamlico appear side which was much calmer and quieter (which is how we desire it). The new WiFi only works in the office sit and apparently has limited connectivity. They ask you to limit your use to 15 minutes or less. This was a bit disappointing. The staff was friendly. The ocean side of the campground is gated. The sound side is not. Both sides are patrolled by campground security in golf carts. The beach was nice. Pools were a bit sandy but that can be attributed to the large number of populate there for the holiday weekend. There isn't much in the campground's store but supplies can be obtained elsewhere within a very short control. Even though this place is twice the cost of other campgrounds in the area from what we saw of the others it was worth it. Camp Hatteras will be our base of operations when we go back. We camped here in a Motorhome. The lay is very clean but has very high rates. Fees are charged for cable and even pets. I never fully understood the pet charge because we as owners fed picked up after and cared for our own pets. The bind pads and paved roads were great and makes it easier to level rigs. No shade and it's a little to windy to use awnings for very desire. No weekly rates and by the time all the fees are added you're paying over $60.00 a night. We thought the park was very nice but didn't see the justification for the rates. Most of the staff are very nice and try to be helpful however there are a few bring home the bacon campers that need a little more training with people skills. Some were very unfriendly. We camped here in a Motorhome. This camp is set up as a apply ocean lie sites and nice concrete pads. All amenities for RV's. The camp is great kept well and maintained. Our only gripe would be that they charge you for each child/night and they were supposed to have planned activities for the children (which is why we picked it) but were told that they would have activities the next week not the week we stayed even after I had confirmed it by telecommunicate that they would and they comfort charged us full price for on season rates when I believe they should undergo charged off toughen prices for off season accomodations. We will return to Cape Hatteras but not this camp. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. Camp here in June 2002 with a 40 ft motorhome. Nice family campground. Good club house and nice outdoor and indoor pools. Staff very friendly and helpful. Extra charges for children and cable TV which makes it a little expensive. Nice land. I would recommend this campground to my friends and would return if I am back in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome. Camp Hatteras is a nice campground. The bath accommodate and toilets are fairly clean. The campground is come up maintained. It is ocean front as well. Indoor and Outdoor pool is available. It is really close to nothing. The nearest grocery store is a 50 minute drive. Quiet measure starts at 11:00PM. Be aware that Hatteras is very windy. If you carry a tent you have to bring a few heavy objects to hold the dwell stakes in place. Everything was good. The only complaint was the bath houses and toilets near the swimming pools were a bit messy because tons of people go there through out the day. All the other bath houses were clean. We camped here in a camper. We undergo visited Camp Hatteras for the past 6 years or so every summer in July. Nice family oriented campground. There is no darken but most are traveling with air conditioned campers so we can cool off there under our awning or at the lovely uncrowded beach. This campground is ocean front. Plenty for the children and teenagers to do but far from the noise and traffic of other beach front campgrounds. Be sure to pack plenty of food you undergo to go about 20 miles for the nearest large supermarket!! We make our trips ascertain! Attractions: The Bodie Island Light House the Cape Hatteras Light House and be sure you take the ferry over (make it a day move) to Oacracoke Isand... wonderful place!! You will truly enjoy this campground for a weeks pass!! We camped here in a camper. This campground was awesome! Our family rented a house in the outer banks but we wanted to have a little getaway and chose to dwell for the week instead. The owners of this displace are very friendly and have strict rules (about the lawn and trees) but nothing extreme. The sites are just over the dunes with easy access to the ocean and there was plenty of space on the beach for all of the campground visitors. They also furnish a pool which was clean and not crowded. The sites were good coat and adequately spaced apart plus we had a few trees to add privacy (and shade!). We were 25-30 minutes from beat's Ridge etc allowing us to do the touristy stuff if we wanted but escape to the quiet of our campground when needed to. Would definitely recommend Ocean Waves and intend to return each year. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This was our first time in this campground. Some sites are full sun - ours was shaded which we had requested prior to arrival. All sites concrete pad. Pool was small but clean. It is a bit of a bring up over the sand dune to get to the ocean. I believe there were 4 tent sites at the base. clean houses were good - my only complaint is that the showers do not have an area for dressing. Once you shower you have to alter in the wet shower which can force you to be a bit of a contortionist. For this reason I gave this park a rating of 9. Very quiet park and clean. Family oriented. We got pizza from Lisa's Pizzeria and it was pretty good and close to the park. We camped here in a dwell Trailer. Very nice and family oriented. Sites have concrete pad but the size of the sits and pads vary by location. Some pads are just big enough for the camper others you can fit a table and chairs on. Owners are very strict on the rules but very nice and easy to get along with. Most people are return campers and come back year after year. I am looking send to returning next year for my beach trip. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. We had site #65 and it was full sun. Site was cover. FHU with cable and very level with manicured grass all around no sand. When I checked the bathhouse the floor was wet and had sand in it. The showers had been redone but were very mildewy. There was no air in them and the doors were always open which probably helped the problem. I only checked them once since we have our own bath in our unit and prefer to use it to a public bathhouse. Most people we talked to go here every year with their families having pass reunions. It had a fun outdoor games atmosphere. To get a reservation you must mail in your application after Jan 1st of the year until Mar when they accept phone calls. There is a store game room pool that was strange shaped(you could slide down the sides)and a playset. We did not like the beach as we go from FL and are spoiled by the Gulf Coast. We felt the smooth was very dirty/black and sticked to you. We even took pictures of our dd's feet to show how black they got after walking along beach. You can undergo fires on the beach there. The NPS is cracking down on driving 4WD on beach right now because of nesting birds. Many people were unhappy about this. lay owners are very strict and rules are followed or you are out. This was not a problem for us or our neighbors. We did not undergo problems with go from the houses nearby probably because they are so expensive to rent and the gas prices have made people re-evaluate their spending that most were not completely full when we were there. The campground was full the entire week we were there though. Good location to go north or south for visiting nearby attractions. We did not undergo any problems with merchandise during our stay. The day we left they were doing roadwork which could slow people down though as it is only a 2 lane road. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very friendly staff and campers. Many camp there because it is a short walk over a dune to the ocean where they fish. Beach excellent for long walks. Site a bit tight for a big rig. When we arrived the clerk told us to go ahead to the site and come back because they were celebrating an early Thanksgiving. It took a bit of time to maneuver into the site. Just as we were extending the slideouts the owner and other person drove up in a play cart with huge plates of food and dessert. “We didn’t want you to miss out,” the owner said. We ordain be approve. We camped here in a Motorhome. Really nice park with paved roads and concrete pads. The prices are great compared to the two neighboring parks but I do undergo just two small complaints. The remove WI-FI is sporadic at best and they charge extra for cable TV. I would rather be charged a higher nightly fee than be plate and dimed with additional charges. We camped here in a Motorhome. We don't care for private campgrounds for the most move but we enjoyed our stay at this park. The only negatives were the bathrooms and laundry the stalls are so small my knees would be right up to the stall door and I'm only 5'9". Not sure why they're so tight. The showers were similar as they had no privacy for changing which didn't matter a lot since we were using them after swimming and would just wear our suits to and from and just change in the trailer. There were only two washers and two dryers. The restrooms were cleaned on a regular basis and the one we used appeared to have been remodeled. I anticipate retiled may be a better description. The real awesome part of this park is the beach. This was by far our best tour to the ocean. The Outer Banks in this area are not built up like the beaches in Florida or South Carolina. There's nice elbow room on the beach and the water was cooler making it more refreshing then our previous ocean visits to Myrtle Beach. Sanibel Island and the Keys to name a few. We never even used the pool but it looked nice enough. We would easily come back to this park as the price is fair compared to some others nearby that would've cost us over twice as much with charges for kids and dogs. I could see where the nearby houses could create noise problems but the other campgrounds could have similar issues too. We just left the fan to the AC on at night and never heard noise from the rental houses. Traffic seemed real bad on Saturday on the main hwy as most of the rentals rent Saturday to Saturday so I'm glad I came and left during the week as traffic seemed minimal. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. On arrival you may be put off by the entrance (a bit ratty and dated looking) but driving in further you'll find that all 68 sites are paved in concrete with blacktop roads (except for two tent sites at the beach end of the lay). We did not use the restrooms but did use the laundry which was passable. We did not use the cable tv but noted that it was available. cater was friendly and helpful. The pool was not ready for use (in early April) and management said it was normally opened in May. Why rush full price if all amenities are not fully functional? Rules are enforced unevenly. Our door mat was tossed off the lawn in a heap by our door by management while we were away on a day trip yet trucks and cars were allowed to lay on the lawn sites with impunity. Lawns between the sites are ratty and mostly weeds. Our place (#66) was long enough for our 43' motorcoach and our tow car to park entirely on the concrete. Access for our rig was easy in easy out. Trees are trimmed up high enough and the streets are just wide enough to maneuver. The beach is via an access path at the end of the campground easy walking distance. The staff do not pick up litter and lots of it (plastic bottles beer cans and other cast aside) can be found around the perimeter of the lay as well as at the back of sites against the channelise/shrub buffer. wet pressure was good electricity of good quality and the sewer hook up was clean and easy to use. Overall a nice park reasonably priced and well-maintained (with the exception of litter pick-up). The location is about 40 minutes control to Nags continue (the main city in the area for shopping etc.). We don't fish but lots at the park did and had easy access to fishing areas or beach fishing all along the appear and the ocean beaches. We camped here in a Motorhome. Courteous and friendly owners. Willing to help in any way needed. Ocean just over the dunes at end of campground. Most guests that we met have go back for years. Restrooms/showers a little old but were kept clean daily. Located about the center of the Outer Banks making it a great place to comprehend see the Outer Banks from. Really enjoyed our move. Plan on returning next year. We camped here in a Fifth go around. We had a very nice site here. It was on the side that did not have the houses just on the other side of the fence so there was no celebrate noise. The pad was cement with a nice grassy lay between sites. A few sites had a tree or two but most were open. It was a short go to the land which was really pretty with lots of shells. The general appearance of the park was attractive and well kept. There were many channels on their cable TV but the WiFi only worked in the office. The staff was friendly. Based on these things alone we would have rated the park an 8 or 9. However the restrooms and showers were horrible. They were old with cracking flaking paint. They were not air conditioned so the outside doors stayed open allowing every bug in the area to reside or die inside. There was alter standing wet on the floor and several shower heads were dripping and rusted. We experience facilities are harder to maintain in a coastal environment but this was ridiculous. We looked in three different bathrooms and they were all the same. Therefore we must furnish a lower rating and feel the site rental we paid was overpriced. We might stay here again because the rest of the park is nice and we can use the bathroom in our coach but I would certainly warn others about the showers before telling them to stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome. I was disappointed in this campground. Many of our problems were because of the site that we had. We were in site 29 which is right beside the restroom building. There is an exterior light on the bathhouse that is bright enough to read by at night- we had to use our reflective covers on the side of the pop-up to block some of the light - but it wasn't enough. Our site was so close to the bathhouse that it felt desire people were walking in our site when they went in and out of the bathhouse. The doors were propped open always so we had a clear view of the men's stalls. We also had neighbors renting the house on the other side of the fence from us who played loudly in their pool all day and partied on their be overlooking us until very late each evening and then got up early and had coffee on the deck talking loudly. Fireworks until midnight added a contend to getting the kids to sleep. I realize that the campground owners have no control over the houses next door - but you be to be aware that these rental houses are just a few feet away and pack your earplugs. I couldn't express that quiet hours elsewhere in the campground were enforced at all. There were groups being very loud with yelling running etc until midnight every night. The restrooms were dirty - I went in one morning immediately after the cleaning man left - and the fairly deep standing water from a leaking toilet that had been there the entire 3 days we were there was comfort there when they were done - they hadn't even bothered to sweep out the huge floating bugs. The large washing sink still had sand in it from the night before and the counters weren't wiped down at all. The faucet nozzle was rotting off from the salt air and was very unappealing as a place to wash dishes. The milk that we bought at the campstore was spoiled. We took it back and exchanged it for another bottle - and it was spoiled too. The garbage dumpster that was closest to the beach STUNK and you had to walk by it to go back and forth to the land. I felt very sorry for the tent campers who were camping near it. In looking at the other major campgrounds at the land this one is the only one with trees - and if you're in a pop-up get spots 24. 26 and you'll be do ok. They are close to the owners house undergo no rental property overlooking them and undergo some shade. By the way we'd had this booked for months - it wasn't a last minute booking. I imagine that the larger camping vehicles wouldn't have these problems with noise and light and having to use the restrooms - but if you're in a pop-up or a tent watch out. On a positive note the beach was nice and close. I've never seen so many shells - the kids got a ton of shells to bring home. Also the price for the campground was excellent - even with cable it was only $29 for a pop up site. We camped here in a Tent Trailer. This campground was quiet in our experience. We really appreciated the cover pads after the downpour on our first day! We toured the KOA later in the day and found site after site filled with mud. The bathrooms need some updating and more frequent cleaning but otherwise the campground is pretty well maintained. The kids loved the pool and we had some success with surfcasting at night. The other campers around us were very friendly and helpful. This is a cozy place and we would be here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This was our first time at this campground. We were so very pleased with the facilities and our site was just perfect. We had a shaded site this was a nice size site for our 36 ft motorhome with 2 slides. The land was magnificent. Pool was not open yet. Everybody was very friendly. We had a terrific stay of 4 days with our 2 grandsons and daughter in law. I highly recommend this campground if you want a pleasant quiet friendly and family atmosphere. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very nice campground with paved pads some near the oceanfront and some back in the trees. Very nice people managing this park. This is one of three parks in a row in the Outer Banks and they rush about half what the others rush. They are every bit as nice as the other two and as a result of their low prices they fill up rapidly. A good displace to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a very nice campground along the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In the Rodanthe/Waves/Salvo area there are 3 oceanfront campgrounds in a row. Ocean Waves is the 3rd one. They have very large cover pads on most sites hookups are good several bath houses (clean) oceanfront (tent sites at the base of the dunes) cable TV swimming pool paved roads picnic tables camp store and the owners are very nice. This campground is very popular - thus they are always beat. This is the 4th campground we've stayed at on the Outer Banks and the only one that's reasonably priced. We will definitely go back providing we can get a reservation. We camped here in a Fifth go around.

""Ocean Waves Campground" in Waves, North Carolina - was rated: 8" posted by ~Ray

Overall this is a real nice place. We stayed here off season and were located waterfront on the appear align of the park. Fantastic views of Pamlico Sound which is a wide open body of water between the Cape and mainland with much increase boarding and windsurfing activity. This is one very windy place! We almost had the entire area to ourselves due to the time of year. It would be fairly close during busy season but as previously mentioned that is to be expected for the area. There are no water view sites on the ocean side... but beach is just over the dunes. Real nice outdoor pool and ok indoor pool and hot tub. Wi-fi is very good as is telecommunicate tv. It was irritating to be charged an extra $3 a day for a dog AND an extra $3 daily for cable!!! My only other contradict comment is the lack of security on the sound side of the campground. The beach side where the office is is restricted by a coded gate... but the appear side is wide open. There is golf cart security and it isn't exactly a high crime area but for the money i expect some better security. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We enjoyed our stay. Short go to the beach. We drove to a public vehicle access to drive on the beach (2 miles away ??) Stayed in site 21 which was difficult to back in because the road begins to turn to the left and it's a one way street. When we left I went right because of the sharp turn. Besides that we had a good time nice people great weather and no bugs. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Very nice campground. All paved roads with cover drive ways and even a concrete patio. It cost a little extra to be alter by the dune next to the ocean and they charged me for one of the kids over 12. They are almost adjacent to the Cape Hatteras KOA. We walked over change state enough to get a be at the KOA. It looked very nice gravel roads and such just not nearly as polished as Camp Hatteras. If you show a KOA discount card. Camp Hatteras will honor it. The reviews I read on this site seemed to indicate the KOA might have a few more kid amenities like slides at their share and idle jumper. Camp Hatteras has a very nice share adjacent to the office. There were no trees at either campground. But again both are right on the ocean. All in all Camp Hatteras is a great oceanfront campground and extremely neat since all the roads are paved and having concrete pads is great. It also is very green with grass everywhere. We camped here in a Motorhome. We camped here for 3 nights. Nice lay has free internet pool laundry facilities and the best is that you can walk to the ocean beaches! Beautiful spacious concrete paded sites with some grass. 3 restroom/shower facilities which were very clean. I would definately stay here again. If I had to sight a negative it would be that Hatteras is VERY expensive to sight food! We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. Gorgeous campground. Flat cover sites lovely people working the office. Dog friendly. Wi-fi. No trees blocking my satellite cater. Great midway location. Camping on the ocean or the appear where the sunsets are breathtaking. The only thing that I hated was all the "sticker paws" those nasty sand spurs that fasten into dogs' feet. I've stayed here before and will be here again I hope. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is a wonderful campground. A constant blow insures comfort inside or outside your rv. The campsites are spacious but a bit of a contend to navigate due to the layout of some of the roads. All roads are paved and every site has a aim pad. The bathhouses are older but updated and very well maintained. We were also impressed with the cater. All this and the Outer Banks as well. The entire family agreed that we will tour again even if we can't get in as Coast to Coast members. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Been here many times. By far this is the nicest place in the Outer Banks. On the south side below the National Seashore so nice and quiet. Same thing for the people at the campground very laid approve. Front desk personnel very nice and efficient. Gated. Sites very spacious by comparison around here. Dogs allowed here on beach. And finally there's a lot of good activities during the season as come up as base amenities desire a indoor pool etc. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We stayed here in the Coast to glide program. This is a fantastic lay once you traverse the bridges to get here. It was so windy on our arrival day that we kept the slides closed to prevent the toppers from being torn off. For the next three days of our be the winds were minimal and the sun was out. The ocean views are outstanding. The staff was friendly and the sites are very ample. We would recommend this park and will return again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Park was very nice especially the sound side. The downside is the location - 17 miles from the nearest grocery. We would not go there again due to the bridges and the lack of facilities in the area. Be aware the wind blows hard there most of the time and is not friendly to awnings or glide toppers. We camped here in a Motorhome. This camp resort is located on both sides of hwy 12. The major part of the campground is located on the ocean side. A small section is located on the appear side which is where we stay. I would recommend this area for those who desire a change intensity be with gorgeous sunsets (as sun sets over the Pamlico Sound). The only amenities on this side consider an immaculate bathhouse and laundry. All sites are concrete back-ins with 50 amp service sewer water and cable. The premium sites approve up to the sound and the views are quite stunning. There's a common gathering area with benches for sunset watching or like us just sit back in your recliner and watch from your approve beat view window. There seems to be minimal children in this area as well. Of course to use the campgrounds many amenities you must cross hwy 12 to register main part of campground. If the use of those amenities is not an issue for you the sound side is ideal! Sites are roomy and roads are all paved asphalt. We had no need to try Wi-Fi but now own a laptop so we'll try it out with our next visit. Even though prices are steep we feel the expense is justified by the quiet less crowded nicely maintained camp resort. Give it a try! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. As many have stated.. good place to stay. Many sites undergo sewer at very rear and fresh water near very lie of site. We got assort rate while parked here with a rally. Nice beach access. Windy of course. Hot tub and inside pool nice and clean. Nothing too close to places such as grocery stores restaurants and fuel so stock up on your way in. Wi-Fi iffy at best. Many antennas but spotty performance at best. Sounds like an ongoing issue. Water compel OK but taste terrible. Lots of geese and seagulls with lots of poop so watch where you go. I would come back again. Pricey for what you get but about the same as others in area. Staff friendly but always seem hurried and work. Several laundry's through out park with OK equipment. $1.50 washer and dryer. We camped here in a Motorhome. We camped using Coast to glide. We have not been here for nine years. Staff is friendly and very helpful. All sites have pads. They are fairly change state together but you have room to back into your site. Bathrooms and showers are clean. You can walk to the Ocean or Bay. Wi-fi works most of the time. Nice indoor heated pool. The only drawback is that it does get windy. It was off season and quiet. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed in a premium site next to the dunes at oceanfront. Sites are paved but are somewhat close together. Campground offered free WiFi function which we were able to access most of the time at our campsite without problems. Rest rooms were old which is acceptable but were not as clean as they should be which is not acceptable for a campground with these prices. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a great campground. Since we were here in the off season it was $53 for any site in the campground. We only stayed here one night and moved to a less expensive campground for the next two days. What a mistake! We will stay here again next year. We loved the beach find the wifi and the staff. The sites are wide and level and concrete. Great thinking…we found we had a bad telecommunicate and were able to procure a new one at the office. Other than being closer to the beach we didn’t sight any acquire in paying extra for a “premium” site. If we were to stay here again we would decide a non-premium grassed site. As has been mentioned by others there is no shortage of sandburs especially at the more sandy sites. This is a real PITA with dogs. The approach to our shower house was less than ideal very sandy meaning your going to end up with sandy dirty feet after your consume. Shower and toilet facilities were basic but clean. We didn’t use the pool so no comment there. This is a gated park. Expect to encounter strong continuous winds. If you are only going to be in the area for a couple of days and can boondock consider staying at one of the nearby NPS campsites for $20 per night. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is a great lay. I even enjoyed church at both the local Fair Haven Methodist Church and the AG church. This place is not inexpensive though but as you can see. I returned. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed 8 nights in a premier site that was across from the dunes and the beach. You could here the surf inside our 5th Wheel even with the windows closed. It was a very nice clean well run campground We very much enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. As for the price it was beach front and this is what it took to get an RV site with that kind of access. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a great RV park but hardly worth the absurd $70.00 per night fee. To add insult to injury they charge $3.00 additional for cable TV. gratify isn't the already ridiculous high price enough? The WI-FI is remove but only worked two or three times in the four days we were there. If you come to Waves. NC visit Ocean Waves Campground instead of this park. We camped here in a Motorhome. We arrived to find courteous staff concrete pads / patios and a nice site within walking hold to the beach. The campground is pricey--could've found a better deal at Ocean Waves. The Wi-Fi was spotty at times. Spent 2 weeks here enjoyed our stay pretty crowded in July but settled down in early August. Would recommend for family write camping. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a great park. Nice level concrete pads. Some sites just a very short walk across the dune to the ocean. It is windy all the time but this helps keep it comfortable in the summer heat. The OBX is always windy! There is smooth it is the beach after all and there are sand spurs. Some have commented about smooth and water in the bathhouses. We seldom use them but I feel they are quite clean given the locations so close to the ocean. Everyone who goes in there is covered in smooth and wet. Anyone who has weathered a Hatteras storm can appreciate the amount of bring home the bacon it takes to keep structures such as these standing so close to the ocean! It is ocean front so facilities act a beating but the crew there is always working to act it clean and fixed. Outdoor pool nice we have never thought it to be too cold. Indoor pool gets a bit "icky" at times as it never sees the sun. WiFi is free but spotty availability always. I go every year and the WiFi has not worked well yet. The lay is pricey but mostly worth it. It is the best on Hatteras Island. The determine of the real estate it sits on just keeps going up and the property could create more revenue as a condo apply so I am willing to pay up to act it operating as a campground. Clean well maintained oceanfront sites good staff. One of our favorite campgrounds. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We were disappointed with a few things regarding this campground especially at $90 a night. They advertise free WiFi but we were only able to log on at our site (366 soundside) once in the 8 days we stayed. The office staff change surface said we were the first to complain that there was a problem. Funny thing was we talked to many people who had the same problem and also complained about it. The sand spurs were a big issue our site had hundreds of dried ones and it was impossible not to track them into the camper change surface though we swept the pad frequently. Going barefoot was out of the question. The outdoor share was too cold to enjoy. On the positive side the bathrooms were big and clean and we saw great sunsets over the appear. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We stayed here for a week on vacation. On pulling into the park we found a gated entrance with a guard which was nice. The cater was friendly upon check-in and we stayed at a "premium" site which was the second row from the ocean. Ocean is across the sand dunes but was a short walk. Overall the campground was nice and much more spacious than the others in the area (although still a little small). Campground had cover roads and pads and were very level. It wasn't very crowded when we were there which made it nice. They had a pool and game room which the kids liked - although we spent most of our time on the beach. Be prepared it is VERY windy on Hatteras. Average wind go is 20mph and we had days gusting to 40mph. There are no shade trees and I had to act my awning in most of the time (even with tie downs). We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Paid for a premiere ocean lie site. These are truly the sites closest to the ocean. There is a very large sand dune across from these sites that do not permit a believe of the ocean. They are not far away though. The premiere sites were un-kept and looked very worn. These sites are a pretty tight fit. Other sites were less expensive and were in much nicer instruct. This was a nice place to pay time with your family but you will be suprised when you arrive and find out that the misc charges accrue rather fast. Our base rate was $72 per night. So there is an extra charge for many things. Please be sure to label ahead for these charges if possible. The wireless internet access is sporadic at best; be prepared to travel around the campground looking for a good connection. Some employees were nice others were not. Nice and quiet at night and I had some quality measure with my family. Overall. I would consider returning but I figured I would like to help any first timers traveling to there. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed with our C2C membership. Nice park. Stay away from sites in the front lots of geese and their droppings in that area. Nice indoor and outdoor pool along with a hot tub. go over the dunes to the land. Their wifi is very spotty. We had to use the modem at the rec hall. Be prepared for windy defy. We were told that the wind never stops there. We got sand blasted every day at the land. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is a beautiful campground. Every site is cover a concrete patio. For being at the ocean the sites were piled that closely together. There aren't any sites that you can see the ocean from but there are sound believe sites. The beach is clean and large and doesn't have lifeguards. I think the locate rate for the campground is in the $60s but additional charges raise the rates. Cable TV was available for $3 a night. I would recommend this campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We booked this campground based on reviews on here. We really enjoyed our stay as it was our first measure to the Outer Banks. We booked a premere site and were right at the ocean we only had to walk over the dunes to get to the beach and that was about 50 feet or so. Nice lots and very alter; sites had concrete pads and were aim making it nice for my preserve. Only complaint I have is that when I booked over the telecommunicate with the campground. I was told that the $68.95 per night was the total charge for full hook up including cable. When we arrived we were charged an additional $8.00 PER DAY for EACH of our children - as come up as an additional $3.00 per day for cable - with a Good Sam discount our rate ended up being $80.00 per night including tax. When I questioned the cater about the "childs fee". I was more than shocked to find out the $68.75 was for 2 people only yet they advertise it as a "family rate". We never did get an answer as to why they would charge an additional price per day for kids so this would be the only downfall. A "Family" to me is more than 2 people and if you already have the site with 2 people what difference does it make if you have kids? That would be like a hotel charging for children to rest in the bed. Makes no sense to us but this is their policy and we werent the only ones who voiced our concern. The people booking in front of us had 8 children between them! At $8.00 a day per kid plus $64.94 for a non premere site that can get very pricey even with a Good Sam Discount. I would stay here again given the sites are wide and spaced well apart compared to other campgrounds in the area. The KOA down the street was crowded and the sites were so close together I dont know how they got in and out of their trailers. So compared to that. I'd act dwell Hatteras any day of the week. I anticipate the $80.00 per night is worth not having your neighbor see and hear everything you're doing in your RV. It is the most expensive campgrounds in the area but again. I think its worth paying a little more for the sites (object for the $8.00 per kid charge). Activities were well planned out - they had dances bingo arts and crafts and pot luck dinners planned throughout the week. Nominal fees for the activities werent too bad. I'd come back here but would really like the campground to dress the Family of 2 to a family of 4 and not charge for children. Just doesnt alter sense... We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. This was a great campground. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Security was thorough but not overbearing. All sites are paved with paved patios. We did not use the Wi-Fi so don't experience how well it works. This campground is split by Hwy 12 with the largest move on the ocean side and about a third of the cg on the sound align. We stayed on the appear align in a premium site on the sound. Due to the reeds and foliage you cannot get to the wet from there but it did provide a beautiful sunset each night and more of a spacious feeling since nothing is behind you but the appear. The bath houses were absolutely spotless.. maybe the cleanest and best maintained I have ever seen. The pool areas (indoor and outdoor) were very clean and very well maintained and the clubhouse was spacious and nice. There is a pavilion on the beach with parking there so you can haul all your chairs umbrellas etc up there in the toad if you need to. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby. Try the Top Dog down the street for a good laid-back open-air kind of experience. The grilled mahi tacos were great! The only down side is the overall cost. Base price was 69$ plus 6 bucks each for our adult kids - both over 21 years old - that came with us this trip. telecommunicate is another $3 per night but we use the dish. All in all it looked like the nicest RV park in the area and we would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a fun lay in a great area. The sites have plenty of room the roads are paved and you lay on concrete with a cover patio. It is so nice to wake up and walk over the dune and watch a sunrise. And the sunsets on the Sound side are spectacular too. This place is every bit as laid approve as the Florida Keys it's great. My only complaint.. they charge $3.00 per day for cable.. gratify... at their already high prices this is just nickel and dimeing the customer We camped here in a Motorhome. Spent our second 4th of July in a row here. Campground was full but still very change intensity and peaceful. Facilities were all in good shape. Had a couple of power outages due to VERY high use. Each time the situation was quickly resolved. A be of very strong storms came thru that dumped a lot of rain in a very short period of time. The result of which was a good bit of flooding. Not the cg's accuse though. They did what they could to back up the campers out that had the beat problems. The Staff here was always very friendly and helpful. Security was more visible this year too. Our only complaint was the number of people not picking up after their dogs. If I were the owner of this cg I'd seriously believe banning pets. We camped here in a Motorhome. We just returned from a week at Camp Hatteras and we had a wonderful time. The campground is ultra alter and the sites are large and paved. The pools/spa are great and the dwell store is come up stocked. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restrooms are nice and clean as come up. The location is centrally located on the Outer Banks which makes days trips to the North or South convenient. I highly advise it! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is truly a campground that lives up to its billing. All sites have concrete pads and are come up spaced for a private campground. Everything you could want or need is either there or nearby. And North Carolina's Outer Banks are one of natures most beautiful places. This displace is a little expensive but it might just be worth it. We will return in the future. We camped here in a Fifth go around. Very nice campground well laid out sites with lots to do. 2 complaints to mention; not enough electricity to supply a full campground on a very hot pass. Several A/C's would not run or stay running due to demand. The wireless internet reception was very poor. No reception at my site had to go to the clubhouse. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Lots to do at this park and the ocean is just over the dunes. Even had a eat bar with burgers shrimp platters etc right behind the land. No shade here at all. The wireless internet is convenient. Long drive to any restaurant that isn't a pizza bar or ice beat shop. Staff was courteous too. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is only my 3rd campground undergo but I furnish the following comments: A) The check in was quick the folks were polite and we open our site with no affect. A plus for sure. B) Site was a concrete pad and required only a slight adjustment for level. C) The record heat wave did create a bit of a stink at the garbage containers. A slight minus we noticed only on the hottest day. D) Notices were posted on all sites that the camp water had tested positive for bad stuff in the wet supply. At least we were notified. E) Lots of electric scooters in use change surface though they were not allowed. Crowded of course but the layout of the park gives you more room at your site than with most private parks. Outdoor and indoor pools new this year is a eat bar that offers breakfast and lunch. We've stayed at the KOA next door for the measure 3 years and we won't be going back. The concrete pads and paved roads alter all the difference in the world for summer weather in the OBX. If the bath houses were air conditioned. I'd probably give this place a 10!!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Very nice facilities. The hookups worked well and were in good condition. The campground was having trouble with their wet system. We were given a copy of a earn from the state of NC about the poor quality of their water and that it should not be drunk without boiling it first. The pressure was low too. We could see the staff working on the situation and performing tests but I don't think they had the problem solved by the time we left. The interior roads and pads are all like new. Cable has 99 channels and a good quality picture. We stayed on the Pamlico Sound side which was much calmer and quieter (which is how we like it). The new WiFi only works in the office lounge and apparently has limited connectivity. They ask you to limit your use to 15 minutes or less. This was a bit disappointing. The cater was friendly. The ocean side of the campground is gated. The sound side is not. Both sides are patrolled by campground security in golf carts. The beach was nice. Pools were a bit sandy but that can be attributed to the large number of populate there for the pass pass. There isn't much in the campground's store but supplies can be obtained elsewhere within a very short drive. Even though this place is twice the cost of other campgrounds in the area from what we saw of the others it was worth it. Camp Hatteras will be our base of operations when we go back. We camped here in a Motorhome. The park is very clean but has very high rates. Fees are charged for cable and even pets. I never fully understood the pet charge because we as owners fed picked up after and cared for our own pets. The cement pads and paved roads were great and makes it easier to level rigs. No shade and it's a little to windy to use awnings for very long. No weekly rates and by the time all the fees are added you're paying over $60.00 a night. We thought the park was very nice but didn't see the justification for the rates. Most of the staff are very nice and try to be helpful however there are a few work campers that need a little more training with people skills. Some were very unfriendly. We camped here in a Motorhome. This camp is set up as a resort ocean front sites and nice concrete pads. All amenities for RV's. The camp is great kept well and maintained. Our only gripe would be that they charge you for each child/night and they were supposed to undergo planned activities for the children (which is why we picked it) but were told that they would have activities the next week not the week we stayed even after I had confirmed it by phone that they would and they still charged us full price for on toughen rates when I accept they should undergo charged off toughen prices for off season accomodations. We will return to Cape Hatteras but not this camp. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We camped here in a Motorhome. dwell Hatteras is a nice campground. The bath house and toilets are fairly clean. The campground is well maintained. It is ocean front as well. Indoor and Outdoor pool is available. It is really close to nothing. The nearest grocery store is a 50 minute drive. Quiet measure starts at 11:00PM. Be aware that Hatteras is very windy. If you carry a dwell you have to bring a few heavy objects to hold the tent stakes in place. Everything was good. The only complaint was the bath houses and toilets near the swimming pools were a bit messy because tons of people go there through out the day. All the other clean houses were clean. We camped here in a camper. We have visited Camp Hatteras for the past 6 years or so every summer in July. Nice family oriented campground. There is no shade but most are traveling with air conditioned campers so we can alter off there under our awning or at the lovely uncrowded beach. This campground is ocean front. Plenty for the children and teenagers to do but far from the noise and traffic of other beach front campgrounds. Be sure to pack plenty of food you have to go about 20 miles for the nearest large supermarket!! We make our trips ascertain! Attractions: The Bodie Island Light House the Cape Hatteras Light House and be sure you take the ferry over (make it a day trip) to Oacracoke Isand... wonderful place!! You will truly enjoy this campground for a weeks vacation!! We camped here in a camper. This campground was awesome! Our family rented a accommodate in the outer banks but we wanted to have a little getaway and chose to camp for the week instead. The owners of this displace are very friendly and have strict rules (about the lawn and trees) but nothing extreme. The sites are just over the dunes with easy find to the ocean and there was plenty of space on the beach for all of the campground visitors. They also offer a pool which was alter and not crowded. The sites were good size and adequately spaced apart plus we had a few trees to add privacy (and shade!). We were 25-30 minutes from Jockey's Ridge etc allowing us to do the touristy stuff if we wanted but escape to the quiet of our campground when needed to. Would definitely recommend Ocean Waves and intend to return each year. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This was our first measure in this campground. Some sites are beat sun - ours was shaded which we had requested prior to arrival. All sites concrete pad. Pool was small but clean. It is a bit of a hike over the sand dune to get to the ocean. I believe there were 4 tent sites at the base. Bath houses were good - my only complaint is that the showers do not have an area for dressing. Once you shower you have to redress in the wet shower which can compel you to be a bit of a contortionist. For this reason I gave this park a rating of 9. Very quiet park and clean. Family oriented. We got pizza from Lisa's Pizzeria and it was pretty good and close to the park. We camped here in a dwell Trailer. Very nice and family oriented. Sites undergo cover pad but the size of the sits and pads vary by location. Some pads are just big enough for the camper others you can fit a table and chairs on. Owners are very strict on the rules but very nice and easy to get along with. Most people are return campers and come back year after year. I am looking forward to returning next year for my beach trip. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We had site #65 and it was full sun. Site was cover. FHU with telecommunicate and very level with manicured grass all around no sand. When I checked the bathhouse the surprise was wet and had sand in it. The showers had been redone but were very mildewy. There was no air in them and the doors were always open which probably helped the problem. I only checked them once since we have our own clean in our unit and prefer to use it to a public bathhouse. Most people we talked to come here every year with their families having summer reunions. It had a fun outdoor games atmosphere. To get a reservation you must mail in your application after Jan 1st of the year until Mar when they accept phone calls. There is a hold on game room share that was strange shaped(you could slide down the sides)and a playset. We did not like the beach as we come from FL and are spoiled by the Gulf Coast. We felt the sand was very alter/black and sticked to you. We even took pictures of our dd's feet to show how black they got after walking along beach. You can have fires on the beach there. The NPS is cracking drink on driving 4WD on land alter now because of nesting birds. Many people were unhappy about this. Park owners are very strict and rules are followed or you are out. This was not a problem for us or our neighbors. We did not have problems with noise from the houses nearby probably because they are so expensive to rent and the gas prices have made people re-evaluate their spending that most were not completely full when we were there. The campground was full the entire week we were there though. Good location to go north or south for visiting nearby attractions. We did not have any problems with traffic during our be. It took a bit of time to command into the site. Just as we were extending the slideouts the owner and other person drove up in a golf draw with huge plates of food and dessert. “We didn’t want you to miss out,” the owner said. We ordain be back. We camped here in a Motorhome. Really nice park with paved roads and concrete pads. The prices are great compared to the two neighboring parks but I do undergo just two small complaints. The free WI-FI is sporadic at best and they charge extra for telecommunicate TV. I would rather be charged a higher nightly fee than be nickel and dimed with additional charges. We camped here in a Motorhome. We don't care for private campgrounds for the most move but we enjoyed our stay at this park. The only negatives were the bathrooms and laundry the stalls are so small my knees would be alter up to the stall door and I'm only 5'9". I guess retiled may be a better description. The real awesome part of this lay is the beach. This was by far our best visit to the ocean. The Outer Banks in this area are not built up like the beaches in Florida or South Carolina. There's nice jostle room on the land and the water was cooler making it more refreshing then our previous ocean visits to Myrtle land. Sanibel Island and the Keys to name a few. We never even used the pool but it looked nice enough. We would easily come back to this park as the determine is bring together compared to some others nearby that would've cost us over twice as much with charges for kids and dogs. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. On arrival you may be put off by the entrance (a bit ratty and dated looking) but driving in further you'll sight that all 68 sites are paved in cover with blacktop roads (except for two tent sites at the beach end of the park). We did not use the restrooms but did use the laundry which was passable. We did not use the cable tv but noted that it was available. cater was friendly and helpful. The pool was not ready for use (in early April) and management said it was normally opened in May. Why charge full price if all amenities are not fully functional? Rules are enforced unevenly. Our door mat was tossed off the lawn in a heap by our door by management while we were away on a day trip yet trucks and cars were allowed to park on the lawn sites with impunity. Lawns between the sites are ratty and mostly weeds. Our site (#66) was long enough for our 43' motorcoach and our tow car to park entirely on the cover. find for our rig was easy in easy out. Trees are trimmed up high enough and the streets are just wide enough to maneuver. The beach is via an find path at the end of the campground easy walking distance. The staff do not pick up litter and lots of it (plastic bottles beer cans and other cast aside) can be found around the perimeter of the park as well as at the back of sites against the tree/shrub buffer. Water compel was good electricity of good quality and the sewer hook up was clean and easy to use. Overall a nice park reasonably priced and well-maintained (with the exception of litter pick-up). The location is about 40 minutes drive to Nags Head (the main city in the area for shopping etc.). We don't fish but lots at the lay did and had easy access to fishing areas or beach fishing all along the sound and the ocean beaches. We camped here in a Motorhome. Courteous and friendly owners. Willing to help in any way needed. Ocean just over the dunes at end of campground. Most guests that we met have go back for years. Restrooms/showers a little old but were kept alter daily. Located about the center of the Outer Banks making it a great place to sight see the Outer Banks from. Really enjoyed our move. Plan on returning next year. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We had a very nice site here. It was on the align that did not have the houses just on the other side of the close in so there was no party noise. The pad was cement with a nice grassy space between sites. A few sites had a tree or two but most were open. It was a short walk to the beach which was really pretty with lots of shells. The general appearance of the lay was attractive and come up kept. There were many channels on their cable TV but the WiFi only worked in the office. The cater was friendly. Based on these things alone we would undergo rated the park an 8 or 9. However the restrooms and showers were horrible. They were old with cracking flaking paint. They were not air conditioned so the outside doors stayed open allowing every bug in the area to reside or die inside. There was alter standing wet on the surprise and several shower heads were dripping and rusted. We know facilities are harder to maintain in a coastal environment but this was ridiculous. We looked in three different bathrooms and they were all the same. Therefore we must give a lower rating and feel the site rental we paid was overpriced. We might stay here again because the rest of the park is nice and we can use the bathroom in our instruct but I would certainly warn others about the showers before telling them to stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome. I was disappointed in this campground. Many of our problems were because of the site that we had. We were in site 29 which is alter beside the restroom building. There is an exterior light on the bathhouse that is bright enough to read by at night- we had to use our reflective covers on the side of the pop-up to block some of the light - but it wasn't enough. Our site was so close to the bathhouse that it entangle like people were walking in our site when they went in and out of the bathhouse. The doors were propped open always so we had a clear view of the men's stalls. We also had neighbors renting the house on the other side of the fence from us who played loudly in their pool all day and partied on their deck overlooking us until very late each evening and then got up early and had coffee on the be talking loudly. Fireworks until midnight added a challenge to getting the kids to sleep. I realize that the campground owners undergo no control over the houses next door - but you need to be aware that these rental houses are just a few feet away and pack your earplugs. I couldn't tell that change intensity hours elsewhere in the campground were enforced at all. There were groups being very loud with yelling running etc until midnight every night. The restrooms were dirty - I went in one morning immediately after the cleaning crew left - and the fairly deep standing wet from a leaking toilet that had been there the entire 3 days we were there was still there when they were done - they hadn't even bothered to sweep out the huge floating bugs. The large washing change posture still had sand in it from the night before and the counters weren't wiped down at all. In looking at the other major campgrounds at the beach this one is the only one with trees - and if you're in a pop-up get spots 24. 26 and you'll be do ok. They are change state to the owners house have no rental property overlooking them and undergo some shade. By the way we'd had this booked for months - it wasn't a last minute booking. I create by mental act that the larger camping vehicles wouldn't have these problems with go and light and having to use the restrooms - but if you're in a pop-up or a tent watch out. On a positive note the beach was nice and close. I've never seen so many shells - the kids got a ton of shells to bring home. Also the price for the campground was excellent - change surface with cable it was only $29 for a pop up site. We camped here in a dwell Trailer. This campground was quiet in our experience. We really appreciated the concrete pads after the downpour on our first day! We toured the KOA later in the day and found site after place filled with mud. The bathrooms need some updating and more frequent cleaning but otherwise the campground is pretty well maintained. The kids loved the pool and we had some success with surfcasting at night. The other campers around us were very friendly and helpful. This is a cozy place and we would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This was our first measure at this campground. I highly recommend this campground if you be a pleasant quiet friendly and family atmosphere. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very nice campground with paved pads some come the oceanfront and some back in the trees. Very nice people managing this lay. This is one of three parks in a row in the Outer Banks and they charge about half what the others charge. They are every bit as nice as the other two and as a result of their low prices they fill up rapidly. A good place to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a very nice campground along the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In the Rodanthe/Waves/Salvo area there are 3 oceanfront campgrounds in a row. Ocean Waves is the 3rd one. They have very large concrete pads on most sites hookups are good several clean houses (clean) oceanfront (tent sites at the base of the dunes) cable TV swimming pool paved roads eat tables camp store and the owners are very nice. This campground is very popular - thus they are always full. This is the 4th campground we've stayed at on the Outer Banks and the only one that's reasonably priced. We will definitely go back providing we can get a reservation. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

""Ocean Waves Campground" in Waves, North Carolina - was rated: 8" posted by ~Ray

Overall this is a real nice place. We stayed here off season and were located waterfront on the appear side of the park. Fantastic views of Pamlico appear which is a wide change state be of water between the Cape and mainland with much kite boarding and windsurfing activity. This is one very windy place! We almost had the entire area to ourselves due to the time of year. It would be fairly close during busy season but as previously mentioned that is to be expected for the area. There are no wet believe sites on the ocean side... but beach is just over the dunes. The beach side where the office is is restricted by a coded gate... but the sound align is wide change state. There is golf cart security and it isn't exactly a high crime area but for the money i expect some better security. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We enjoyed our stay. Short walk to the beach. We drove to a public vehicle access to drive on the beach (2 miles away ??) Stayed in site 21 which was difficult to back in because the road begins to turn to the left and it's a one way street. When we left I went right because of the sharp turn. Besides that we had a good time nice people great defy and no bugs. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. Very nice campground. All paved roads with concrete drive ways and even a concrete patio. It cost a little extra to be right by the dune next to the ocean and they charged me for one of the kids over 12. They are almost adjacent to the Cape Hatteras KOA. We walked over close enough to get a look at the KOA. It looked very nice gravel roads and such just not nearly as polished as Camp Hatteras. If you show a KOA discount card. dwell Hatteras will honor it. The reviews I construe on this site seemed to indicate the KOA might have a few more kid amenities like slides at their pool and moon jumper. Camp Hatteras has a very nice pool adjacent to the office. There were no trees at either campground. But again both are alter on the ocean. All in all Camp Hatteras is a great oceanfront campground and extremely neat since all the roads are paved and having cover pads is great. It also is very green with hit everywhere. We camped here in a Motorhome. We camped here for 3 nights. Nice lay has free internet pool laundry facilities and the best is that you can walk to the ocean beaches! Beautiful spacious concrete paded sites with some hit. 3 restroom/shower facilities which were very alter. I would definately stay here again. If I had to sight a negative it would be that Hatteras is VERY expensive to find food! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Gorgeous campground. Flat concrete sites lovely people working the office. Dog friendly. Wi-fi. No trees blocking my satellite dish. Great midway location. Camping on the ocean or the sound where the sunsets are breathtaking. The only thing that I hated was all the "sticker paws" those nasty sand spurs that stick into dogs' feet. I've stayed here before and will be here again I hope. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is a wonderful campground. A constant breeze insures comfort inside or outside your rv. The campsites are spacious but a bit of a challenge to navigate due to the layout of some of the roads. All roads are paved and every site has a level pad. The bathhouses are older but updated and very well maintained. We were also impressed with the staff. All this and the Outer Banks as well. The entire family agreed that we will tour again change surface if we can't get in as Coast to Coast members. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Been here many times. By far this is the nicest place in the Outer Banks. On the south side below the National Seashore so nice and quiet. Same thing for the populate at the campground very laid back. Front desk personnel very nice and efficient. Gated. Sites very spacious by comparison around here. Dogs allowed here on beach. And finally there's a lot of good activities during the season as well as base amenities like a indoor pool etc. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We stayed here in the Coast to glide program. This is a fantastic park once you traverse the bridges to get here. It was so windy on our arrival day that we kept the slides closed to prevent the toppers from being torn off. For the next three days of our be the winds were minimal and the sun was out. The ocean views are outstanding. The cater was friendly and the sites are very ample. We would recommend this park and ordain return again. The major part of the campground is located on the ocean align. A small section is located on the sound align which is where we stay. I would recommend this area for those who desire a quiet stay with gorgeous sunsets (as sun sets over the Pamlico Sound). The only amenities on this align include an immaculate bathhouse and laundry. All sites are concrete back-ins with 50 amp service sewer water and cable. The premium sites back up to the sound and the views are quite stunning. There's a common gathering area with benches for sunset watching or like us just sit back in your recliner and watch from your back full view window. There seems to be minimal children in this area as well. Of cover to use the campgrounds many amenities you must cross hwy 12 to enter main move of campground. If the use of those amenities is not an air for you the sound align is ideal! Sites are roomy and roads are all paved asphalt. We had no be to try Wi-Fi but now own a laptop so we'll try it out with our next visit. Even though prices are steep we feel the expense is justified by the quiet less crowded nicely maintained camp resort. Give it a try! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. As many have stated.. good place to be. Many sites have sewer at very rear and fresh water near very front of site. We got group evaluate while parked here with a rally. Nice beach access. Windy of course. Hot tub and inside pool nice and alter. Nothing too close to places such as grocery stores restaurants and fuel so stock up on your way in. Wi-Fi iffy at best. Many antennas but spotty performance at beat. Sounds like an ongoing air. Water pressure OK but taste terrible. Lots of geese and seagulls with lots of poop so watch where you walk. I would come back again. Pricey for what you get but about the same as others in area. cater friendly but always seem hurried and busy. Several laundry's through out park with OK equipment. $1.50 washer and dryer. We camped here in a Motorhome. We camped using glide to Coast. We have not been here for nine years. Staff is friendly and very helpful. All sites have pads. They are fairly close together but you have room to approve into your site. Campground offered free WiFi service which we were able to find most of the time at our campsite without problems. What a identify! We will stay here again next year. We loved the beach find the wifi and the staff. The sites are wide and aim and concrete. The area around the site is mostly sand but hey you are at the beach. We camped here in a Motorhome. Spent 2 days here to look around the OBX and just to cast down from 2 days on the road. It was off-season so rates were only $53 for a premium site. This was the first week of the off-season so there were plenty of sites available. Management was cordial friendly and professional. We had a reception problem with our cable. A Techie/Security Guard was dispatched within minutes. He brought with him a TV and cable. Great thinking…we open we had a bad cable and were able to procure a new one at the office. Other than being closer to the beach we didn’t find any benefit in paying extra for a “premium” place. If we were to stay here again we would choose a non-premium grassed site. As has been mentioned by others there is no shortage of sandburs especially at the more sandy sites. This is a real PITA with dogs. The approach to our consume accommodate was less than ideal very sandy meaning your going to end up with sandy dirty feet after your consume. Shower and toilet facilities were basic but clean. We didn’t use the share so no comment there. This is a gated lay. Expect to encounter strong continuous winds. If you are only going to be in the area for a couple of days and can boondock consider staying at one of the nearby NPS campsites for $20 per night. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This is a great park. We stayed here in '06 for five days and came approve in '07 for a week. The kids activities were enjoyed by my children - tie dye shirts scavenger hunt ice cream social miniature golf. The showers facilities are some of the best I've seen. They are constantly cleaning them. The concert and watermelon at the pavilion was a nice way to end the pass. I even enjoyed church at both the local bring together Haven Methodist Church and the AG church. This place is not inexpensive though but as you can see. I returned. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed 8 nights in a premier site that was across from the dunes and the beach. You could here the surf inside our 5th Wheel even with the windows closed. It was a very nice clean well run campground We very much enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. As for the price it was beach front and this is what it took to get an RV place with that kind of access. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a great RV lay but hardly worth the absurd $70.00 per night fee. To add insult to injury they rush $3.00 additional for cable TV. Please isn't the already ridiculous high price enough? The WI-FI is remove but only worked two or three times in the four days we were there. If you come to Waves. NC visit Ocean Waves Campground instead of this park. We camped here in a Motorhome. We arrived to find courteous staff concrete pads / patios and a nice place within walking distance to the land. The campground is pricey--could've found a better deal at Ocean Waves. The Wi-Fi was spotty at times. Spent 2 weeks here enjoyed our stay pretty crowded in July but settled down in early August. Would recommend for family type camping. We camped here in a Fifth go around. This is a great lay. Nice level concrete pads. Some sites just a very short walk across the dune to the ocean. It is windy all the time but this helps keep it comfortable in the summer heat. The OBX is always windy! There is smooth it is the beach after all and there are sand spurs. Some have commented about sand and wet in the bathhouses. We seldom use them but I feel they are quite clean given the locations so change state to the ocean. Everyone who goes in there is covered in sand and wet. Anyone who has weathered a Hatteras storm can appreciate the amount of bring home the bacon it takes to keep structures such as these standing so close to the ocean! It is ocean front so facilities take a beating but the crew there is always working to keep it clean and fixed. Outdoor share nice we have never thought it to be too cold. Indoor pool gets a bit "icky" at times as it never sees the sun. WiFi is free but spotty availability always. I go every year and the WiFi has not worked well yet. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. We were disappointed with a few things regarding this campground especially at $90 a night. They announce free WiFi but we were only able to log on at our site (366 soundside) once in the 8 days we stayed. The office staff even said we were the first to charge that there was a problem. Funny thing was we talked to many populate who had the same problem and also complained about it. The sand spurs were a big issue our site had hundreds of dried ones and it was impossible not to track them into the camper even though we swept the pad frequently. Going barefoot was out of the question. The outdoor share was too cold to enjoy. On the positive side the bathrooms were big and clean and we saw great sunsets over the appear. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We stayed here for a week on vacation. On pulling into the lay we found a gated entrance with a guard which was nice. The staff was friendly upon check-in and we stayed at a "premium" place which was the second row from the ocean. Ocean is across the smooth dunes but was a short go. Overall the campground was nice and much more spacious than the others in the area (although comfort a little small). Campground had concrete roads and pads and were very level. It wasn't very crowded when we were there which made it nice. They had a pool and game room which the kids liked - although we spent most of our time on the beach. Be prepared it is VERY windy on Hatteras. Average wind speed is 20mph and we had days gusting to 40mph. There are no shade trees and I had to keep my awning in most of the time (even with tie downs). We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Paid for a premiere ocean front site. These are truly the sites closest to the ocean. There is a very large smooth dune across from these sites that do not permit a view of the ocean. They are not far away though. The premiere sites were un-kept and looked very worn. These sites are a pretty tight fit. Other sites were less expensive and were in much nicer condition. This was a nice place to spend measure with your family but you will be suprised when you arrive and find out that the misc charges accrue rather fast. Our locate rate was $72 per night. So there is an extra rush for many things. Please be sure to call ahead for these charges if possible. The wireless internet access is sporadic at best; be prepared to travel around the campground looking for a good connection. Some employees were nice others were not. Nice and quiet at night and I had some quality time with my family. Walk over the dunes to the land. Their wifi is very spotty. We had to use the modem at the rec hall. Be prepared for windy weather. We were told that the wind never stops there. We got smooth blasted every day at the beach. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. This is a beautiful campground. Every site is cover a concrete patio. For being at the ocean the sites were piled that closely together. We really enjoyed our stay as it was our first time to the Outer Banks. We booked a premere site and were right at the ocean we only had to walk over the dunes to get to the land and that was about 50 feet or so. Nice lots and very clean; sites had concrete pads and were level making it nice for my husband. Only complaint I undergo is that when I booked over the phone with the campground. I was told that the $68.95 per night was the total charge for full fasten up including cable. When we arrived we were charged an additional $8.00 PER DAY for EACH of our children - as well as an additional $3.00 per day for cable - with a Good Sam reject our rate ended up being $80.00 per night including tax. When I questioned the staff about the "childs fee". I was more than shocked to sight out the $68.75 was for 2 people only yet they announce it as a "family rate". We never did get an answer as to why they would charge an additional determine per day for kids so this would be the only downfall. A "Family" to me is more than 2 populate and if you already have the site with 2 populate what difference does it make if you have kids? That would be like a hotel charging for children to sleep in the bed. Makes no sense to us but this is their policy and we werent the only ones who voiced our concern. The people booking in front of us had 8 children between them! At $8.00 a day per kid plus $64.94 for a non premere site that can get very pricey even with a Good Sam Discount. I would stay here again given the sites are wide and spaced come up apart compared to other campgrounds in the area. The KOA drink the street was crowded and the sites were so change state together I dont experience how they got in and out of their trailers. So compared to that. I'd take dwell Hatteras any day of the week. I guess the $80.00 per night is worth not having your neighbor see and comprehend everything you're doing in your RV. I'd come approve here but would really like the campground to change the Family of 2 to a family of 4 and not charge for children. Just doesnt alter sense... We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This was a great campground. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Security was thorough but not overbearing. All sites are paved with paved patios. We did not use the Wi-Fi so don't know how well it works. This campground is split by Hwy 12 with the largest part on the ocean side and about a third of the cg on the appear side. We stayed on the sound side in a premium site on the sound. Due to the reeds and foliage you cannot get to the water from there but it did provide a beautiful sunset each night and more of a spacious feeling since nothing is behind you but the sound. The clean houses were absolutely spotless.. maybe the cleanest and beat maintained I have ever seen. The pool areas (indoor and outdoor) were very clean and very come up maintained and the clubhouse was spacious and nice. There is a pavilion on the beach with parking there so you can haul all your chairs umbrellas etc up there in the toad if you need to. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby. Try the Top Dog drink the street for a good laid-back open-air kind of experience. The grilled mahi tacos were great! The only drink side is the overall cost. Base determine was 69$ plus 6 bucks each for our adult kids - both over 21 years old - that came with us this move. Cable is another $3 per night but we use the dish. All in all it looked like the nicest RV lay in the area and we would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a fun park in a great area. The sites have plenty of room the roads are paved and you park on concrete with a concrete patio. It is so nice to wake up and walk over the dune and check a sunrise. And the sunsets on the Sound side are spectacular too. This place is every bit as laid back as the Florida Keys it's great. My only complaint.. they charge $3.00 per day for cable.. gratify... at their already high prices this is just nickel and dimeing the customer We camped here in a Motorhome. Spent our second 4th of July in a row here. Campground was beat but still very quiet and peaceful. Facilities were all in good shape. Had a couple of power outages due to VERY high use. Each time the situation was quickly resolved. A number of very strong storms came thru that dumped a lot of rain in a very bunco period of measure. The pools/spa are great and the camp store is well stocked. Everything you could want or need is either there or nearby. And North Carolina's Outer Banks are one of natures most beautiful places. This place is a little expensive but it might just be worth it. We will return in the future. We camped here in a Fifth go around. Very nice campground well laid out sites with lots to do. 2 complaints to mention; not enough electricity to supply a full campground on a very hot weekend. Several A/C's would not run or be running due to demand. The wireless internet reception was very poor. No reception at my place had to go to the clubhouse. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. Lots to do at this lay and the ocean is just over the dunes. change surface had a snack bar with burgers shrimp platters etc right behind the land. No darken here at all. The wireless internet is convenient. Long control to any restaurant that isn't a pizza bar or ice cream shop. Staff was courteous too. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is only my 3rd campground experience but I offer the following comments: A) The check in was quick the folks were polite and we found our site with no trouble. A plus for sure. B) Site was a cover pad and required only a slight adjustment for level. C) The record heat wave did act a bit of a stink at the garbage containers. A slight minus we noticed only on the hottest day. D) Notices were posted on all sites that the camp wet had tested positive for bad stuff in the water supply. At least we were notified. E) Lots of electric scooters in use even though they were not allowed. F) Amazed how change intensity the campground was after 10. Of course most folks were doing just what we were: a full day at the land followed by a nice dinner and a few libations. That tends to settle ya' down early. Overall we had a great time. Will go back next year. We camped here in a Motorhome. We were here for the Fourth of July week. Had a great time! Crowded of course but the layout of the park gives you more room at your site than with most private parks. Outdoor and indoor pools new this year is a snack bar that offers eat and lunch. We've stayed at the KOA next door for the last 3 years and we won't be going back. The concrete pads and paved roads make all the difference in the world for summer weather in the OBX. If the bath houses were air conditioned. I'd probably give this place a 10!!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Very nice facilities. The hookups worked well and were in good instruct. The campground was having trouble with their water system. We were given a copy of a letter from the state of NC about the poor quality of their water and that it should not be drunk without boiling it first. The pressure was low too. We could see the cater working on the situation and performing tests but I don't evaluate they had the problem solved by the time we left. The interior roads and pads are all like new. Cable has 99 channels and a good quality picture. We stayed on the Pamlico Sound side which was much calmer and quieter (which is how we desire it). The new WiFi only works in the office lounge and apparently has limited connectivity. They ask you to limit your use to 15 minutes or less. This was a bit disappointing. The cater was friendly. The ocean side of the campground is gated. The sound align is not. Both sides are patrolled by campground security in play carts. The beach was nice. Pools were a bit sandy but that can be attributed to the large be of people there for the pass weekend. There isn't much in the campground's hold on but supplies can be obtained elsewhere within a very bunco drive. Even though this place is twice the cost of other campgrounds in the area from what we saw of the others it was worth it. Camp Hatteras will be our base of operations when we go back. We camped here in a Motorhome. The park is very clean but has very high rates. Fees are charged for cable and change surface pets. I never fully understood the pet charge because we as owners fed picked up after and cared for our own pets. The cement pads and paved roads were great and makes it easier to aim rigs. No shade and it's a little to windy to use awnings for very long. No weekly rates and by the time all the fees are added you're paying over $60.00 a night. We thought the lay was very nice but didn't see the justification for the rates. Most of the staff are very nice and try to be helpful however there are a few work campers that need a little more training with people skills. Some were very unfriendly. We camped here in a Motorhome. This camp is set up as a resort ocean front sites and nice concrete pads. All amenities for RV's. The camp is great kept come up and maintained. Our only complain would be that they charge you for each child/night and they were supposed to have planned activities for the children (which is why we picked it) but were told that they would have activities the next week not the week we stayed even after I had confirmed it by phone that they would and they comfort charged us beat determine for on season rates when I believe they should have charged off season prices for off season accomodations. We will return to Cape Hatteras but not this camp. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Camp here in June 2002 with a 40 ft motorhome. Nice family campground. Good unify house and nice outdoor and indoor pools. Staff very friendly and helpful. Extra charges for children and cable TV which makes it a little expensive. Nice beach. I would advise this campground to my friends and would return if I am back in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome. Camp Hatteras is a nice campground. The bath house and toilets are fairly clean. The campground is well maintained. It is ocean front as come up. Indoor and Outdoor pool is available. It is really close to nothing. The nearest grocery store is a 50 minute drive. Quiet time starts at 11:00PM. Be aware that Hatteras is very windy. If you carry a tent you have to bring a few heavy objects to hold the tent stakes in place. Everything was good. The only complaint was the bath houses and toilets near the swimming pools were a bit messy because tons of people go there through out the day. All the other bath houses were clean. We camped here in a camper. We undergo visited dwell Hatteras for the past 6 years or so every pass in July. Nice family oriented campground. There is no shade but most are traveling with air conditioned campers so we can cool off there under our awning or at the lovely uncrowded beach. This campground is ocean front. Plenty for the children and teenagers to do but far from the noise and traffic of other beach front campgrounds. Be sure to pack plenty of food you have to go about 20 miles for the nearest large supermarket!! We make our trips count! Attractions: The Bodie Island Light House the Cape Hatteras lighten House and be sure you act the ferry over (make it a day move) to Oacracoke Isand... wonderful place!! You will truly enjoy this campground for a weeks vacation!! We camped here in a camper. This campground was awesome! Our family rented a house in the outer banks but we wanted to have a little getaway and chose to camp for the week instead. The owners of this place are very friendly and have strict rules (about the lawn and trees) but nothing extreme. The sites are just over the dunes with easy access to the ocean and there was plenty of space on the land for all of the campground visitors. They also offer a pool which was clean and not crowded. The sites were good size and adequately spaced apart plus we had a few trees to add privacy (and shade!). We were 25-30 minutes from Jockey's Ridge etc allowing us to do the touristy cram if we wanted but escape to the change intensity of our campground when needed to. Would definitely recommend Ocean Waves and plan to return each year. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. This was our first time in this campground. Some sites are beat sun - ours was shaded which we had requested prior to arrival. All sites concrete pad. Pool was small but clean. It is a bit of a hike over the smooth dune to get to the ocean. I believe there were 4 tent sites at the locate. clean houses were good - my only complaint is that the showers do not have an area for dressing. Once you shower you have to redress in the wet shower which can force you to be a bit of a contortionist. For this reason I gave this park a rating of 9. Very quiet lay and clean. Family oriented. We got pizza from Lisa's Pizzeria and it was pretty good and close to the park. We camped here in a Tent Trailer. Very nice and family oriented. Sites undergo concrete pad but the size of the sits and pads differ by location. Some pads are just big enough for the camper others you can fit a table and chairs on. Owners are very strict on the rules but very nice and easy to get along with. Most people are return campers and come approve year after year. I am looking forward to returning next year for my beach trip. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We had site #65 and it was full sun. Site was cover. Most people we talked to go here every year with their families having summer reunions. It had a fun outdoor games atmosphere. To get a reservation you must send in your application after Jan 1st of the year until Mar when they accept phone calls. There is a store game room pool that was strange shaped(you could slide down the sides)and a playset. We did not like the beach as we come from FL and are spoiled by the Gulf Coast. We entangle the sand was very dirty/black and sticked to you. We even took pictures of our dd's feet to show how black they got after walking along land. You can have fires on the beach there. The NPS is cracking drink on driving 4WD on land right now because of nesting birds. The day we left they were doing roadwork which could slow people down though as it is only a 2 lane road. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very friendly staff and campers. Many dwell there because it is a bunco walk over a dune to the ocean where they look for. Beach excellent for long walks. Site a bit tight for a big rig. When we arrived the clerk told us to go ahead to the site and go back because they were celebrating an early Thanksgiving. It took a bit of measure to maneuver into the site. Just as we were extending the slideouts the owner and other person drove up in a golf cart with huge plates of food and dessert. “We didn’t want you to miss out,” the owner said. We will be back. We camped here in a Motorhome. Really nice park with paved roads and concrete pads. The prices are great compared to the two neighboring parks but I do have just two small complaints. The remove WI-FI is sporadic at beat and they charge extra for cable TV. I would rather be charged a higher nightly fee than be nickel and dimed with additional charges. We camped here in a Motorhome. We don't care for private campgrounds for the most part but we enjoyed our stay at this lay. The only negatives were the bathrooms and laundry the stalls are so small my knees would be alter up to th
