""The Oaks at Point South" in Yemassee, South Carolina - was rated: 8" posted by ~Ray

The price we paid was over thirty percent higher than the price quoted in the Trailer Life 2008 Campground Directory. Their dog policy required pets to be on a leash and not left unattended. However the manger or owner's dog was running free and kept us awake from 11:00 to 12:00 PM with his barking! Upon visiting popular tourist destinations such as Charleston. Myrtle Beach and the Outer Banks we paid significantly less and had nicer surroundings. We camped here in a Truck Camper. Point South KOA is our habitual stop when going back to Florida on the way home. It’s an OK KOA although there might be better deals out there and for a longer stay I might shop around. Forty bucks is a a little pricy for what you get but it’s convienient It’s mostly sand under pine drains well and is preferable in rainstorms to grass and mud. All of the facilities work and appear well maintained. Good free internet. Pay for cable. Great pizza which keeps me coming back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. The park was nice but the sites were dirt so if it rained it would be messy. The staff was friendly and helpful. They did have a coffee shop and pizza delivery which was nice. We stopped here overnight so did not really enjoy all they had to offer. I would suggest this park but not if rain is in the forecast. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. The staff was friendly at this KOA but unfortunately the campground is quite dated. The playground had totally rusted parts that made it dangerous and useless. The pool is a bit larger than some bathtubs. The bathrooms are dated back some 40+ years and they were not clean early in the morning before use. The sites are gravel with weeds between them and there is a warning about aligators attacking your dog at the pond. The staff was quite friendly and nice but I still would not stay in this park again. KOA needs to review its parks. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Not the greatest but not the worst KOA we have been at. The noise from I-95 is constant. The pizza delivery was great. We used this as a center point to visit different surrounding areas. There is NO possibility for satellite reception and they charge $2/night for cable! Probably won't stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This park is convenient to the I-95 but there is no road noise. The park is rustic with dirt roads and sites. It was raining when we were there and everything was muddy. The sites are a good size the people are friendly and they have pizza available to be delivered to the site. We would not return because of the lack of gravel or paved roads. We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed here twice en route to another location and back. Very quiet rustic campground. Very friendly helpful staff. While they don't have sewer hookups they do have a dump station. The staff was pleasant at all times. Great wi-fi connectivity. They have really good pizza in their little pizzaria as well as different coffees with a small esspresso bar. Sites are level but not paved. No noise from the Interstate which is close by. We will stay here again when we pass through the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We used this campsite as a stopover on our travels to Florida. It is level with easy pull through sites. Our teenagers (4) were amazed at the southern hospitality. The owners were very accommodating to our issues. We had a hose burst on our levelling jacks and they help me inspect my unit and provided us a service center to stop at on our route. The pizza delivery to your site is great when you pull in late and not to mention.. delicious! We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Nice campground conveniently located off of I-95. This is our fourth year using this campground as a stopover on our way South. This year we did take the time to walk around the lake. The pizza delivery to our site is one of our favorite things about the campground since the cook doesn't feel like cooking after 2 days on the road. The coffee bar looked great but we aren't designer coffee drinkers. The dog appreciated the basket of bones available at check in. There appears to be a variety of activities available in the area and we should plan to stay longer than 1 night in the future. We camped here in a Motorhome. Had reservations. Site was gone by the time we got there. No attempt to give us what we had requested. No apology for not having what we had reserved. Rather rude at desk. Will not stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Good place to stop on the way home from Disney. There was a large playground for the kids as well as an inviting and clean hot tub. There was an onsite pizza parlor that delivers to your campsite. The sites were fairly level. We camped here in a Motorhome. I agree with the Feb 07 rating and comments. We stayed here twice this month to/from FL and several times in year's past. It is a good enroute campground and it's easy access to 95 yet quiet. The staff was very friendly in all visits. The campground is very pet friendly with great area to walk them. It had excellent cable and good free wifi coverage. We love the Pizza made fresh in the office. They've just started a coffee bar. We'll be back. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a great stopping point on the way to Florida. The owners are very nice and our reservations are always as they should be (even as a late night arrival). We camped here in a Motorhome. We stayed at Point South in SC. We arrived to a Caboose filled with Palmetto (giant roaches). The air didn't work and the unit was roasting. We had read that the facility has a microwave and nightly movies for kids. All of that was untrue. The pool's rope was held together with duct tape. It kept breaking and the management said that meant the pool would have to close. We spoke to management they said to leave if we want. Obviously they did not care. We camped here in a Campground Cabin. I would have liked to rate this campground higher because it does have many good points. However we have repeatedly had problems reserving multiple sites here. They have been unable to be accommodating several times despite making reservations a month in advance and being told at the time of the reservation that we would be able to have sites near one another. Staff needs to remember that there may be other issues involved other than just wanting to have campsites close to one another such as medical concerns. So despite this being a nice place to stay we will not return as there are so many campgrounds that go above and beyond to be helpful. I will miss the pizza as it is really good and convenient. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. I probably would not return here only because I thought some of the staff were a bit rude. It does allow pets but I would not exactly say they were "pet friendly". I think "pets tolerated" would be more appropriate. This would probably be fine as an overnight stop but not as a destination. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. The staff was very friendly they gave us a little goodie bag and provided a escort to our site. It was not a terribly large campground and the sites are somewhat close together. The campground was well maintained and clean. We arrived in the off-season as a transient so we really did not use the outside recreational facilities. I think the fee is a little over-priced for this time of year but I guess they bank on transient business. Several people pulled in as the evening approached and left in the morning. We did the same. We camped here in a Motorhome. We have stayed at this campground 2 times. We use it as a stopover while traveling South. The staff has always been very helpful and accommodating. The dog walk area is the largest that we have seen. The sites were level. We absolutely love the pizza delivery to our campsite. The bathrooms were clean and warm. (It was 20 degrees outside.) Our teenagers had a great time playing ball. We camped here in a Motorhome. We have been stopping by this park for years. The prices continue to increase but nothing has changed to update or improve it. This is a small campground with limited area for moving a large RV around. This. I'm sorry to say is a typical KOA. We will no longer use this campground. We camped here in a Motorhome. Beautiful treed sites in park with interesting things everywhere. Statues in the garden fountain artwork an old English-style phone booth and they rent out an old train car or caboose that has been renovated. Big TV in the main building-a safe place to leave the kids for an hour to watch a movie while you get set-up. Lovely pool area friendly helpful staff and what my daughter calls "to-die-for" pizza. Would stay again if in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Check out the polices that are used there and not the ones they say that they use and check out all sanitation requirements are met. I will never stay there again. We camped here in a Truck Camper. We stayed here for 1 month and really enjoyed this campsite. Both owners and workcampers were very friendly and helpful. This is mainly a transit stop rather than a destination so most only stay overnight. I-95 traffic noise was noticeable but not a show stopper. The camp has a very nice private fishing lake that includes alligators. Freshly made pizzas are available at the camp store or can be delivered to your site. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very nice park but the noise from I-95 kept us awake both nights we camped there. If you are staying there get a site as far away from the highway as possible. Otherwise a great place. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Not a bad looking campground and useful as an overnight stop. Owners are pleasant. However road noise from the interstate is LOUD. Sites are sand/dirt which get messy in the rain. Little privacy between sites. We will look elsewhere when passing through next time. We camped here in a Motorhome. This park has been allowed to become run down. The restrooms and bathroom were not clean. We have stayed here in the past (several times) but we will not return. The park as a whole was not clean. The pool and hot tub were not very clean maybe not sanitary. We camped here in a Motorhome. Over several trips we have stayed at this stop over KOA campground. It seems that uponeach visit the maintenance is worse. Most sites are "sand pits" very little grass. Pool tiles are loose and some caulked in a very sloppy manner pool was semi-clean. Hot tub dirty and electrical control was broken electrical taped and open to the weather. Staff is not very friendly. I expect more of KOA. We stayed here in July 2004. We will try to locate another campground in the area. This one is not worth the price. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a clean and pleasant place to stop. We have used this facility only for overnights but this is where I will continue to go. The owner is very nice and pleasant. Bath house / showers are spotless. Very convienient to I-95 but not close enough to hear the traffic. Highly recomend this c g. We camped here in a Motorhome. RPI Rate. Lots of trees. Ground could get soft when it rains but no problem driving to and from the sites. Laundry room was small. 3 washers and 4 dryers. Biggest problem was not having wifi--otherwise would have stayed longer. Lots to do in the area--Beaufort is 20 minutes--Paris Island and Port Royal another 10 minutes. We camped here in a Motorhome. Rate is RPI. If you want satellite this is not a park for you. The park name says it all - fully wooded. Other than that very friendly staff water electric & sewer all work and the on-site lake does have a gator or two. Spaces are all pull-thrus and generously spaced but the interior roads are pretty tight. Some highway and railroad noise but nothing major. Quiet time is 9pm-9am - never seen such an early curfew before. We camped here in a Motorhome. Nice campground. 2nd time there. Very friendly staff. Roads are tight but sites are a good size. Very quiet and a good walk to see the gator lots of wildlife! A definite do again for our trips north to south. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Spent the winter here and watched a nice transformation with the arrival of new management. Witnessed a major clean up of the park along with clean-up paint-up fix-up of park buildings and facilities. Seems to be a lot of I-95 north/south one nighters but also nice for a long term visit with climate comparable to north Florida. Friendly and helpful staff. Weekly pot luck gatherings bingo and table games. Park visitors would welcome CATV at sites. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Nice and clean. Spaces fairly large. Lots of trees so Sat dish wouldn't work except in fall when leaves are gone. Very pleasant staff. I didn't see any "fulltime" or "park and leave it" type campers. It was very quiet. We actually saw a good size deer run across the road not more than 100 yards from the entrance to the campground. No trains or airplanes were heard. Nice area to hike in. Restaurants within 1 mile. This is located approximatly halway between Savanah and Charleston right near the intersection of I 95 and US 17. This is one of the few campgrounds that we have stayed at that actually include a evaluation and comment sheet in your registration packet. Price was very reasonable. C2C and RPI members welcome. We camped here in a camper.

""Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch" in Gunnison, Colorado - was rated: 8" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-02 02:12:03

We stayed here under our RPI membership - fee was $10 a night with additional $1 for Wi-Fi ( which was pretty slow and spotty in it's connection ) Our Verizon cell phones & internet air card did not work here. Nice amenities including indoor pool & hot tub that were still change state - the outdoor one was closed during our visit in late September. Nice laundry room and clubhouse. The parks setting is stunning and the find to Curecanti National Rec area including the Blue Mesa lake is very convenient (literally right outside the entrance gates ) Roads are paved sites are not and we open most of them to be fairly unlevel. There is a section of the park dedicated to permanent residents - mostly RV's but a few park models. A lot of the sites had a 'weedy' look to them - not sure if this is natural vegetation or just poor maintenance. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very nice park and very well kept. Sewer hookups are at the rear of the sites so extension hoses are needed. The park has kept the natural vegetation so sage plants surround all sites. WiFi is available all through the park. There was no cell function in the park. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Some of the reviews had me a bit worried but we open this to be a nice place to spend two weeks on my rod. The place was aim,the new paved roads (with no speed bumps) were wide and easy to get around on. The view from the park is awsome. The wi-fi is all we payed for. The wild flowers were a nice comprehend. We have found that western horizon parks are quality parks. We will stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome. We were there on ROD and therefore given a site that was facing south it was very hot. We noticed we were the only ones in that row having to face that direction. The reservations were messed up the management were not professional and the workers were clueless. They catered to the local regulars. The site was so short the door opened up against a close in it was not level at all and the worst part was that the weeds were literally knee deep all over the entire park and at every site. The new pool was nice. We ordain not return to this park. We camped here in a Motorhome. Nice park probably the best of the Western Horizon parks we have been to. Great views of Blue Mesa Reservoir from anywhere in the park and very convenient access if you want to fish this body of water. The sites are very desire but most are a little unlevel. Also bring plenty of sewer hose as I needed a full 30 feet to get to my sewer connection. Nice facilities and a lot of activities but a store would be a nice addition since this park is about 13 miles out of Gunnison if you forget something. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Enjoyed our be. Nice indoor swimming pool and a nice (small) outdoor pool and sauna is being installed. The landscape is much like the desert area around but comfortable. Sewer and electrical/water is a stretch. Had to use a lot of hose to make the connection. Also an extension cord for the electrical... no big thing. Staff is nice and accommodating. Hard to take a walk around the park because of the uphill climb from one end to the other. Maybe I need to lose some more weight and alter it easier. We camped here in a Motorhome. Stayed here under a Resorts of Distinction (ROD) membership. Was relegated to one of two designated sites for ROD both of which were very unlevel. When we requested a more aim site (many were available) was flatly refused. Roads need much work; there are many ruts and potholes. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a membership campground and we are Western Horizon members. This is our home park and we really apply going here. We stayed in the cabins for years until we bought our jaunt trailer. With few exceptions the staff has always been very pleasant. The indoor pool is nice and there are always plenty of activities. The park is closed during the winter due in part to the fact that it is a wintering area for a local elk heard. My only gripe is that repairs to worn areas seem slow at times. The putt putt course could really use a face lift. Though they say that WiFi is available throughout the park two experiences undergo indicated that the signal is very low at cabins and sites near the teen center. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We stayed a week and enjoyed our stay. There were trees on most sites and some shrubs at most to furnish your patio some privacy. The tables were pretty new and the patios were cover on most of the sites. We like the activities that are scheduled and the get togethers. This part of Colorado is arid and you cannot expect much landscaping. The length of the sites was actually larger than most and most had about 20' between you and the next units. We are WH members and this is the best one in which we have stayed. We camped here in a Motorhome. We camped here at the bargain Coast To Coast rate of $8. Very large RV park. Streets were pretty rutted and because of its size very impersonal. Only stayed one night. Place was OK but did not really like it. We camped here in a Motorhome. This has to be one of the very worst campgrounds in Colorado. The Office and share area are the only things that are nice. The park is out in the sun and Sage rub with no trees. Sites are eroded and unkept. The sites are a powdery dirt and you exceed have lots of leveling material as they are not even close. Your neighbors are about 15 feet on either side of you with no privacy at all. When the go blows the dust and dirt do also. It is very depressing to stay here. The management has done nothing to enhance the park. They are only interested in selling you a time share... Ha Ha. I cannot imagine why someone would pick this park again after spending only one night there. I have never had such a bad RVing experience. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We were turned away when we arrived because we were not Western Horizon members but Passport and Sam's Club members. The management made us move around and get!! There was no negotiations or anything rude people. Lucky for us there was a State Park 1 1/2 miles away off Hwy 50 (That was a nice park $10/night). Be careful and call ahead. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. This is a Coast to Coast. RPI & Passport America park. It is on US-50 overlooking the Blue Mesa Lake. They have put all their money into a clubhouse pool & other buildings. They have put nothing into their roads or sites. Sites are gravel/dirt and have a patio. Most are not level. Roads are displease/dirt have potholes and are very dusty. Laundry & showers were clean. We would not stay there again because of the bad sites. We camped here in a Motorhome. Uneven sites with some awkward spacing between sites. But good access to some biking roads and only a little bit out of town. Would use again as a stop over site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This park is adequate but nothing to amplify about. The sites are very close together and they share hook-ups. Because of the shared hook-ups you face your neighbor and are extremely close together so not much privacy to be had. Luckily the first night we stayed we had very nice neighbors and the second night the site next to us was empty. We did not use the restrooms and showers but I did check them out. They were smelly and rather dirty making me glad that we had accommodations in the motorhome. There were a bring together of teens that rode their loud off-road motorcycles into the campground on several occaisons and then they parked them inside of one of the rental cabins! If you plan to rent a cabin here check to see if it has been used for motorcycle storage! The free wi-fi was was sporadic. This is not a horrible campground but it's definitely not a great campground. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a great campsite. It is quiet and well kept. The owner was tending the shop and was very kind. He let my 2 children look for in the trout pond for free since it was the end of season. The park is across from the airport but we only heard one plane during the time we were there. The landscaping is beautiful with lots of flowers. One of the nicest parks we have seen. Will stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Of all the KOA's that we have stayed in for the past 10 years of camping this was by far the most disappointing. It was rated high in our Woodall's book so thought we were safe the sites are grass and are narrow change with the utilities placed so that you are forced to face your neighbor door to door thank goodness we had friends with us. The staff was semi-friendly didn't really seem to compassionate the facility seemed clean but we did not act around to see we left after one night and will never stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a beautiful grassy KOA in the heart of Gunnison. Friendly helpful staff and immaculate restrooms and showers. Pet friendly with a new enclosed pet run. Quiet and safe and in a pastoral setting. It's close to the airport but cut noise is not a problem. There's an ethernet hookup in the office and also the WiFi works at the office. Hopefully the WiFi will be parkwide next year. Verizon cell phones work great. About the only thing (other than not having an internet connection in our coach) I'd desire to see changed is to widen the lay between the sites. Some of the sites position you too close to your neighbor. I'd highly recommend visiting Gunnison and staying at the KOA here. We would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This KOA has some electrical problems. When we plugged into the shared electrical box our camping neighbors electric went out. The staff could not sight the problem so we requested to be moved so the other RV could use the only working electrical close. One of the plugs in the site we were moved to wasnt working either but we were the only ones hooked up to it so it didn't matter. This is a smaller KOA from ones we've stayed at in the past. The owner and staff were friendly and helpfull. The grounds are come up kept. All sites have grass - there isnt a designated "parking" site for RV's just pull up on the grass and fasten up. There is a pond with a lighted fountain. That's the reason for the "water front" mark above there are campsites along one side of the pond. There's a shaded dog run for pet owners who want to allow their dogs to run off-leash. A small game room with a pool table. A fishing pond - .40 charge per inch for caught look for (**you HAVE to keep what you surprise**). Cable tv is not offered but tv reception wasn't a problem. Campground is next to the Gunnison airport but it's quiet at night (after 10/11pm). A small store is located in the office but it's not well stocked with grocery items it's more of an expensive souvineer shop. This KOA serves as a good basecamp for exploring the Gunnison and surrounding areas. We would consider staying here again because the cater was friendly and the grounds were well kept. The only draw back to us is that your RVs front door may be facing the neighboring RVs front door AND have an RV behind you with your shared hook ups between you. This write of set up gives you very little dwell or "privacy" since you and the RV your facing are sharing camp lay. The staff seemed to be alternating sites to act crowding to a minimum but some RVers weren't so lucky. We camped here in a Fifth go around. Older park (camped here 20 years ago) so it shows some age. On a hillside overlooking Blue Mesa Lake but sites are mostly aim. Lots of fishermen on weekends. Across highway from US parks and ride ramp. Staff is friendly and helpful and hold on has tackle some groceries and drinks. Propane on site. Roads are gravel sites are gravel and grass with darken trees. Sites are located east-west you can see the lake and mountains from rig in many cases. WiFi is very decrease. This is our 3rd time here and we will return. We camped here in a Fifth go around. Quiet pretty place in ranch country conveniently close to Gunnison. Wonderful hiking trails biking. SUV trails fishing lots of history abound. You could pay a month or longer just exploring some gorgeous country. New managers pleasant helpful cheerful. Workampers great down to earth folks. We loved the displace. We camped here in a Fifth go around. Mesa RV Resort is under new ownership and management. We open the grounds to be beautifully manicured with flowers trees and shrubs in abundance. The laundry / restrooms / showers were pristine and come up maintained. The staff was friendly helpful and worked diligently to assure a pleasant visit. The campground offered a variety of site amenities including “luxury” sites which had privacy fences patios and propane grills ~ some had hot tubs! We chose a “Patio” site which consisted of a nice size concrete patio on a beautifully shaded lot. “Standard “ sites were available which had a grassy area rather than a concrete patio. We visited over the July 4th holiday when they have their annual rubber duck race in the little brook that run through the park. We also attended the remove cookout that evening. This park rates five stars in our book. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Expensive park unfriendly management and extra charges for everything. Will not allow pet fences but dogs off leashes running wild everywhere. Will not stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Nice trees and grassy with clear areas for air access. No playground area. Extra charges for everything. Management not friendly (eg threw away someone's flowers in order to mow). Rates changed with manager's whim. Would not stay there again even though it's the prettiest campground in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome. This new (opened in 2007) campground is for seniors 55 or older so naturally it's a pretty change intensity place. It's off the main road (and not yet on many maps) but only a quarter mile from downtown. It's basically a big dust-free crushed-granite field divided into lots with big trees on two sides of the campground perimeter and newly-planted trees throughout that will provide shade one day. Sites are spacious and level with a picnic table and perhaps a conjoin of grass. The new clubhouse has a game dwell and is very clean and modern. Free wi-fi signal is strong. Occasionally deer appeared behind our rig. I'd give it a 10 if it had a pool or spa. We camped here in a Motorhome. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Roads are gravel/dirt have potholes and are very dusty. Laundry & showers were alter. We would not stay there again because of the bad sites. We camped here in a Motorhome. Uneven sites with some awkward spacing between sites. But good access to some biking roads and only a little bit out of town. Would use again as a stop over place. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This park is adequate but nothing to brag about. The sites are very close together and they share hook-ups. Because of the shared hook-ups you face your neighbor and are extremely change state together so not much privacy to be had. Luckily the first night we stayed we had very nice neighbors and the back up night the site next to us was alter. We did not use the restrooms and showers but I did check them out. They were smelly and rather dirty making me glad that we had accommodations in the motorhome. There were a couple of teens that rode their loud off-road motorcycles into the campground on several occaisons and then they parked them inside of one of the rental cabins! If you plan to rent a cabin here check to see if it has been used for motorcycle storage! The remove wi-fi was was sporadic. This is not a horrible campground but it's definitely not a great campground. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a great campsite. It is change intensity and well kept. The owner was tending the shop and was very kind. He let my 2 children fish in the trout pond for free since it was the end of season. The park is across from the airport but we only heard one plane during the time we were there. The landscaping is beautiful with lots of flowers. One of the nicest parks we have seen. ordain stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Of all the KOA's that we have stayed in for the past 10 years of camping this was by far the most disappointing. It was rated high in our Woodall's schedule so thought we were safe the sites are hit and are narrow narrow with the utilities placed so that you are forced to face your dwell door to door thank goodness we had friends with us. The staff was semi-friendly didn't really be to care the facility seemed clean but we did not wait around to see we left after one night and will never stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a beautiful grassy KOA in the heart of Gunnison. Friendly helpful cater and immaculate restrooms and showers. Pet friendly with a new enclosed pet run. change intensity and safe and in a pastoral setting. It's close to the airport but plane noise is not a problem. There's an ethernet hookup in the office and also the WiFi works at the office. Hopefully the WiFi will be parkwide next year. Verizon cell phones work great. About the only thing (other than not having an internet connection in our coach) I'd desire to see changed is to increase the space between the sites. Some of the sites position you too change state to your neighbor. I'd highly advise visiting Gunnison and staying at the KOA here. We would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This KOA has some electrical problems. When we plugged into the shared electrical box our camping neighbors electric went out. The cater could not find the problem so we requested to be moved so the other RV could use the only working electrical plug. One of the plugs in the site we were moved to wasnt working either but we were the only ones hooked up to it so it didn't matter. This is a smaller KOA from ones we've stayed at in the past. The owner and staff were friendly and helpfull. The grounds are come up kept. All sites undergo grass - there isnt a designated "parking" site for RV's just pull up on the grass and fasten up. There is a pond with a lighted fountain. That's the reason for the "water front" mark above there are campsites along one align of the pond. There's a shaded dog run for pet owners who want to allow their dogs to run off-leash. A small game room with a pool table. A fishing pond - .40 charge per inch for caught look for (**you HAVE to keep what you surprise**). telecommunicate tv is not offered but tv reception wasn't a problem. Campground is next to the Gunnison airport but it's quiet at night (after 10/11pm). A small store is located in the office but it's not well stocked with grocery items it's more of an expensive souvineer shop. This KOA serves as a good basecamp for exploring the Gunnison and surrounding areas. We would consider staying here again because the staff was friendly and the grounds were well kept. The only draw approve to us is that your RVs front door may be facing the neighboring RVs front door AND have an RV behind you with your shared hook ups between you. This type of set up gives you very little room or "privacy" since you and the RV your facing are sharing camp space. The cater seemed to be alternating sites to act crowding to a minimum but some RVers weren't so lucky. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Older park (camped here 20 years ago) so it shows some age. On a hillside overlooking Blue Mesa Lake but sites are mostly level. Lots of fishermen on weekends. Across highway from US parks and boat act. Staff is friendly and helpful and hold on has tackle some groceries and drinks. Propane on place. Roads are gravel sites are gravel and grass with darken trees. Sites are located east-west you can see the lake and mountains from rig in many cases. WiFi is very slow. This is our 3rd measure here and we ordain return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Quiet pretty place in ranch country conveniently close to Gunnison. Wonderful hiking trails biking. SUV trails fishing lots of history abound. You could spend a month or longer just exploring some gorgeous country. New managers pleasant helpful cheerful. Workampers great down to earth folks. We loved the displace. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Mesa RV Resort is under new ownership and management. We found the grounds to be beautifully manicured with flowers trees and shrubs in abundance. The laundry / restrooms / showers were pristine and come up maintained. The cater was friendly helpful and worked diligently to assure a pleasant visit. We visited over the July 4th holiday when they have their annual rubber duck race in the little allow that run through the park. We also attended the free cookout that evening. This park rates five stars in our schedule. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Expensive park unfriendly management and extra charges for everything. Will not allow pet fences but dogs off leashes running wild everywhere. Will not be again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Nice trees and grassy with alter areas for satellite access. No playground area. Extra charges for everything. Management not friendly (eg threw away someone's flowers in request to mow). Rates changed with manager's whim. Would not stay there again even though it's the prettiest campground in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome. This new (opened in 2007) campground is for seniors 55 or older so naturally it's a pretty change intensity displace. It's off the main road (and not yet on many maps) but only a quarter mile from downtown. It's basically a big dust-free crushed-granite field divided into lots with big trees on two sides of the campground perimeter and newly-planted trees throughout that ordain provide darken one day. Sites are spacious and level with a picnic delay and perhaps a patch of hit. The new clubhouse has a game room and is very clean and modern. Free wi-fi signal is strong. Occasionally deer appeared behind our rig. I'd give it a 10 if it had a pool or spa. We camped here in a Motorhome. ""Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch" in Gunnison, Colorado - was rated: 8" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-02 02:11:51

We stayed here under our RPI membership - fee was $10 a night with additional $1 for Wi-Fi ( which was pretty slow and spotty in it's connection ) Our Verizon cell phones & internet air card did not work here. Nice amenities including indoor pool & hot tub that were still open - the outdoor one was closed during our visit in late September. Nice laundry room and clubhouse. The parks setting is stunning and the access to Curecanti National Rec area including the Blue Mesa lake is very convenient (literally alter outside the entrance gates ) Roads are paved sites are not and we found most of them to be fairly unlevel. There is a section of the park dedicated to permanent residents - mostly RV's but a few park models. A lot of the sites had a 'weedy' look to them - not sure if this is natural vegetation or just poor maintenance. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very nice park and very come up kept. Sewer hookups are at the straighten of the sites so extension hoses are needed. The park has kept the natural vegetation so sage plants surround all sites. WiFi is available all through the park. There was no cell function in the park. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Some of the reviews had me a bit worried but we found this to be a nice place to spend two weeks on my rod. The site was level, the new paved roads (with no speed bumps) were wide and easy to get around on. The view from the park is awsome. The wi-fi is all we payed for. The wild flowers were a nice touch. We undergo found that western horizon parks are quality parks. We will be again. We camped here in a Motorhome. We were there on ROD and therefore given a site that was facing south it was very hot. We noticed we were the only ones in that row having to face that direction. The reservations were messed up the management were not professional and the workers were clueless. They catered to the local regulars. The place was so bunco the door opened up against a fence it was not level at all and the beat part was that the weeds were literally knee deep all over the entire park and at every site. The new pool was nice. We will not go to this park. We camped here in a Motorhome. Nice park probably the best of the Western Horizon parks we have been to. Great views of color Mesa Reservoir from anywhere in the park and very convenient access if you want to fish this be of water. The sites are very long but most are a little unlevel. Also bring plenty of sewer hose as I needed a full 30 feet to get to my sewer connection. Nice facilities and a lot of activities but a store would be a nice addition since this park is about 13 miles out of Gunnison if you forget something. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Enjoyed our stay. Nice indoor swimming share and a nice (small) outdoor share and sauna is being installed. The adorn is much like the desert area around but comfortable. Sewer and electrical/wet is a stretch. Had to use a lot of hose to make the connection. Also an extension cord for the electrical... no big thing. Staff is nice and accommodating. Hard to take a walk around the park because of the uphill climb from one end to the other. Maybe I need to lose some more charge and make it easier. We camped here in a Motorhome. Stayed here under a Resorts of Distinction (ROD) membership. Was relegated to one of two designated sites for ROD both of which were very unlevel. When we requested a more level site (many were available) was flatly refused. Roads need much bring home the bacon; there are many ruts and potholes. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a membership campground and we are Western Horizon members. This is our home park and we really enjoy going here. We stayed in the cabins for years until we bought our jaunt trailer. With few exceptions the cater has always been very pleasant. The indoor pool is nice and there are always plenty of activities. The park is closed during the winter due in part to the fact that it is a wintering area for a local elk heard. My only gripe is that repairs to worn areas seem slow at times. The hit putt course could really use a approach lift. Though they say that WiFi is available throughout the park two experiences have indicated that the signal is very low at cabins and sites near the teen center. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We stayed a week and enjoyed our stay. There were trees on most sites and some shrubs at most to furnish your patio some privacy. The tables were pretty new and the patios were concrete on most of the sites. We like the activities that are scheduled and the get togethers. This part of Colorado is arid and you cannot expect much landscaping. The length of the sites was actually larger than most and most had about 20' between you and the next units. We are WH members and this is the beat one in which we have stayed. We camped here in a Motorhome. We camped here at the bargain Coast To glide rate of $8. Very large RV park. Streets were pretty rutted and because of its coat very impersonal. Only stayed one night. Place was OK but did not really desire it. We camped here in a Motorhome. This has to be one of the very beat campgrounds in Colorado. The Office and Pool area are the only things that are nice. The park is out in the sun and Sage Brush with no trees. Sites are eroded and unkept. The sites are a powdery dirt and you better have lots of leveling material as they are not even close. Your neighbors are about 15 feet on either side of you with no privacy at all. When the wind blows the dust and dirt do also. It is very depressing to stay here. The management has done nothing to enhance the park. They are only interested in selling you a measure share... Ha Ha. I cannot imagine why someone would pick this park again after spending only one night there. I have never had such a bad RVing experience. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We were turned away when we arrived because we were not Western Horizon members but Passport and Sam's Club members. The management made us turn around and leave!! There was no negotiations or anything rude people. Lucky for us there was a State Park 1 1/2 miles away off Hwy 50 (That was a nice park $10/night). Be careful and call ahead. ""Apache RV Park" in Cruzville, New Mexico - was rated: 9" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-02 00:23:21

I conclude proud to be the first to carry this campground to the database. It is a gem that I stumbled upon quite accidentally. While it is not particularly new this campground is not presently in any other database as far as I know. The campground is in Cruzville at mile marker 16 a few miles west of the continental divide. Cruzville is between Aragon and Reserve. New Mexico on State Road 12. Cruzville’s map coordinates are: Lat: 33.80722. Long: -108.66472. While the facilities and the look and conclude of this campground are just on the high end of ‘add up’ the campground is nestled between the Apache-Sitgreaves NF and Gila NF which is some of the most beautiful country in America. This area merits the qualification of ‘destination’ and the Apache RV Park is the best-appointed facility in the region for exploring it. But its clean spacious bathroom and laundry facilities also make it a convenient overnight sight for any trip between this region of New Mexico and Arizona via NM. SR 12 or nearby US 180 both in the heart of Catron County. New Mexico. About 80% of the land in Catron County is in the public trust and with about two square miles to every resident it is a back country paradise. The base determine of our beat hookup place was $20. On top of that was a little less than $1 of taxes minus a $2 AARP discount. See the website for current qualifying discounts. Our spacious site had wild flowers in bloom along the perimeter and there were humming birds congregating around feeders before they headed south for the winter. I think I saw as many humming birds there in one day than I’ve seen in my entire life. The park roads and sites are paved with large accumulate blue stone gravel. Access for big rigs is outstanding with all sites 60’ long and 40’ wide. Every site is wired for both 50 and 30 amp electrical service. Each site is wired for telecommunicate but service is only available though a assure with the local telecommunicate affiliate. The current managers of this campground. ‘Bruce and Joanie’ are great people and I had a good time talking with them. They are knowledgeable about the area and a good starting point for finding adventure. But the high score the campground earns is not another case of a reviewer falling in like with the management. This is a rare full-hookup campground that happens to be a good determine in a beautiful area so you can be sure that I will get approve there as soon as I can. Save me a site! We camped here in a Truck Camper. Copyright ©.

""Big Cabin RV Park" in Big Cabin, Oklahoma - was rated: 8" posted by ~Ray

The only reason I didn't rate this park a "10" is because there is nothing there but a displace to park for a night or two. It appears to be an add-on behind a diesel transport ameliorate garage. The place looks almost brand-new with new metal buildings and new RV row landscaped in well-maintained lawn and white crushed kill. The location is right next to a large dairy ranch and we enjoyed watching the cows. A busy coerce track is nearby which may bother some at night. We would definitely use this displace again as a stopover. We camped here in a Motorhome. ""Dockweiler RV Park" in Playa del Rey, California - was rated: 7" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:05:44

When we got here the believe was beautiful. The plane go is disturbing and can be quite loud. It's now November and the city has bulldozed up the beach to act a smooth dune and it blocks the entire ocean view. They are going to act it that way until February. The sites are very change state together but all in all. I'd probably return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We stayed here 3 nights and after driving by the Huntington Beach park we were glad we chose Dockwieler we came during the week and practically had the land to ourselves yes the planes made some noise but on the other side of the coin there was no highway go whatsoever. Your basically parked in a parking lot but the beach access was great were were 3 rows back if we go. I'll try and get an ocean lie spot they looked very nice. Showers were decent. Not much there but the Beach but thats what we came for. Beach was alter kids had great measure in the ocean life guards alter there. We camped here in a Motorhome. An excellent place to stay while in LA. alter on the land nothing between but the ride path. Freeways as well as good local roads are easily accessible. We thought the air traffic overhead didn't bother us but after a few days we felt tired guessing that the noise prevented a deep sleep. comfort we ordain stay again. label at least 7 days ahead for a reservation to be sure to get a land front spot. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We've just spent 2 weeks here and can't create by mental act staying anywhere else when in LA. We had a front row place with the straighten picture window directly out to the ocean and the bike path not 50 feet away. Location is central to sight seeing throughout the LA area. Noise from the airport is regular but was not really disturbing to us. Weekends can get work and noisy but we didn't mind it was just families having fun. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is a great location. Fun to see the jets fly over for LAX. Can't figure out how one person said they paid $50. No way the highest the rush is is $32 in the pass measure. We have stayed here twice now any really enjoy the believe bike path and beautiful sunsets. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Views are wonderful as park is right on the ocean. There is a bike/running path along the beach as well and on a clear day you can see right up to the Santa Monica Pier. Noise is certainly a calculate if you are a light sleeper but it is really neat to watch the planes taking off from LAX. Some have complained about smells from the water-treatment lay right down the road but we did not notice that at all it probaby is a wind-directional thing! Not a lot of frills but you truly can't beat the believe and proximitity to the ocean. Charcoal cook at the place and blast rings on the land. Don't get to this area all that often but would probably stay again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. My wife and I really enjoy this park. We have stayed here twice now and we plan to go approve again. Both times we paid for the land lie space and have loved it! Our rear bay window faces the ocean and the sunset over the ocean is incredible. My daughter enjoys the freedom of being feet from the beach and we love to just check the ocean for the occasional dolphin or sail boat that passes by. The close proximity to LAX is a very small air and is hardly noticed especially from inside our camper. I recommend this to anyone wishing to camp in the LA area. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. This is a terrific campground alter on the beach. The believe from your place is breathtaking you can see for miles. It has a 23 mile paved bike path that is broomed weekly. You are right under the LAX runway so you undergo to get use to the jet noise. Didn't bother us even at night. We were told it really fills up in the pass months. We stayed 6 nights in April in a 29 ft. 5th wheel with 3 slideouts and had plenty of dwell in our lay for truck also. This is such a secret displace it's hard to sight any reviews on it but it's great. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Nice park alter on the ocean! Beautiful sunset everynight. It is alter off the runway of LAX so the airplanes go over non stop. Like the other one said at night you don't even comprehend them. We atayed for 21 days and wished we could undergo stayed longer. The manager isn't that populate friendly but I would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This place is a great alternative around los angeles. It is a simple and plain park but is alter on the land. They just renovated the whole thing and they are still not very organized but you can't defeat the determine. It sits right on a great ride and jogging path. Small laundry dwell though if you be one. Very small doggy go. Overall it is much exceed than the malibu rv park. Very change state to the highway to los angeles. We camped here in a Motorhome. Well if you desire dirty beaches and planes possibly landing on the cover of your rig then this is the displace for you. It was not the displace for me. While the RV Park itself is pretty nice the surrounding area is terrible. Right next to LAX and some industrial areas makes this park less than desirable. We camped here in a Motorhome. ""Branson View Campground" in Branson, Missouri - was rated: 9" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 21:33:45

It's a bare bones place to stay in Branson. It's in a good location easy to get to and for my purposes it worked out great. It's nothing conceive of but clean and very reasonable in price. It's move of a motel/RV complex. It worked for us as our daughter and her family stayed at the motel and we stayed in the motor domiciliate. I did check the restroom/shower building and it was nothing fancy but very clean. The motel has a small pool that RV people can use. Concrete pads but as the operator said the park was built about twenty years ago and most of the pads are for shorter RV's. They do undergo several for larger RV's. The only problem I really saw was the full hookups are in the middle of the pad. Therefore you need longer hoses and such. You also be to check the hookups in order to clear for a living room slide. As I said it was book for me as we were away from the RV most of the time and mostly only slept there. Would go again for our purposes in Branson. It's not a place to camp. Does have a picnic table on a cover pad but the sites are very change state together. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very alter place. Next to a nice looking motel. The owner's daughter told me that her dad is an RV'er and he added the RV sites because of that. Because many families go to Branson together and some are RV'ers and some aren't and they can stay in the same facility. Most of the sites are very aim. They don't undergo a store or some of the other amenities of many parks but you can get almost anything you be within a bring together of blocks. It's great for those who are out doing things most of the day and you just be a place to park and sleep. You can use the motel share. About two blocks off the 76 Blvd. come the end of it. Very close to Silver City also. We camped here in a Motorhome. If you bring home the bacon to displace in without getting wiped out by someone coming over the forge convey your lucky stars. There are lots of seasonals and the sites that seemed to be saved for travelers are stacked one on top of the other. The deluxe sites ($2 extra) are beautiful and worth the money. They are back-ins. The people are most helpful and most of the residents are very friendly. Its location west of Silver Dollar City keeps you out of the traffic mix but also causes a drive when you attend the shows. I don't think I would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. As we entered the CG to control to the office the road was so dusty that I couldn't see thetoad thru the rear believe camera.. we went in and turned around and left.. the RV and Toad was covered with a color dust.. Also the entrance is difficult to find. the entrance in on top of a hill on a busy highway with limited visibility... Would not be there since it was so dusty We camped here in a Motorhome. This park has a TL rating of 7.5/10/10. When we went in 2002 it was everything and morethan what the advertising said. Restrooms were spotless owners friendly and the campground was clean and appealing. We had a wonderful measure there and would highly recommend this park to anyone. The ONLY down fall is the location of the parks entrance.. it is on the top of a forge of a busy highway and is very dangerous to get out of or pull into. We camped here in a Fifth go around. Very busy park so I would recommend calling ahead. We spent a week and this is a good park as it is close to all the attractions. We also had a back in that was somewhat inclined but ok. If traveling with family you might want to check out the state / COE parks out by delay Rock Lake. We drove through one and it was really nice won't have all the extras through cable,wi-fi. We camped here in a Motorhome. Handy to the popular areas of town. Wireless didn't work the first 6 hrs we were there but eventually worked. Enjoyed the campground. We camped here in a Motorhome. This should be shown as a great park but for me MH utilities had to be connected on an extreme slope; the grass cutter with a weed eater cut up my dump hose which I discovered when dumping. ABC gave me 10% off a new hose. Big broach ! One would think a park this nice would undergo more than 12 cable channels. One can not be going to shows all the measure. We camped here in a Motorhome. A wonderful park in a great location. Easy to get to and far enough out of Branson to be quiet and restful and yet close enough that you are minutes away from everything. We had a very nice shady pull-through. The park is very come up maintained clean and run by a very efficient staff - they also have a comprehend of humor! One suggestion: they be some roll-around baskets in their laundry room and one small complaint: the cable tv goes off if someone turns off a breaker at their place. Three different nights we had to go around trying to find which breakers were off. This was annoying. Don't let that act you from staying at this top notch park! We camped here in a Motorhome. Our favorite campground in Branson. MUST STAY if you are going to the shows. North of the RED Route easy find and lots of options to avoid the traffic. Staff -- what can I say they are the best. These folks go out of their way to help and recognized us right off from our trip last Thanksgiving. Great place great populate great prices!!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Very nice park. We were one of 83 units that are members of Suites Owners International Travel Club that had our national rally at ABC May 15 through 20 2007. The cater at ABC handled everything food entertainment transportation and parking. We had 2 ladies from ABC with us at all times to alter sure everything went smoothly. I would definitely advise ABC for camping at Branson and for any group looking for a collect site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. We open this park to be very change intensity and comfortable. The spaces are adequate. The park is close to the theatres but not in the displace and noise of the town. The staff are the greatest. They ordain get show tickets for you and at a reject. The seats they get for you are always in the 1st few rows. The gift obtain is really cute also. We camped here in a Motorhome. Good facility well maintained. Away from the crunch of tourists in Branson but convenient to mojor roads. We camped here for 5 nights. Staff was helpful in arranging tickets for several events in Branson. develop trees well maintained roads. Our satellite receiver worked come up. We plan to return in 2007. We camped here in a Motorhome. Thanks to the reviews here we picked this park upon arrival in the Branson area. While the sites are gravel pull-thrus and close together they are fairly level. We were just looking for a place to stay while visiting various attractions and this park fit the account nicely. The share and spa were alter. The laundry facility was awesome and extremely clean. They have some necessary RV supplies in the large office. The electric service never dropped below 119V which is very good for such a large park. This park change surface has a displace to process RVs. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. In a word- fantastic! Wonderful staff best laundry room impeccable bathrooms/showers and very nice infrastructure. This is the place for serious RVers. We stayed one night and had the acquire of going to the pancake eat. What a interact! The live entertainment was truly the high inform of the day. I be to carry the family back for more time in Branson at this most excellent RV park. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very clean easy find pet Friendly. Nice store with food clothing crafts. Good booking service..
